At the moment, it was clear that Margaret was being polite. But of course, Michael would not mind even if Margaret suddenly acted out due to his response.

If it had been his parents that had arranged something like this, maybe there was a possibility that Michael might have accepted. But that was on the premise that he did not already have someone else in his heart.

He was someone who did not enjoy needless trouble. So, if they could avoid a conflict, he would not mind. Additionally, with the possibility of this world changing in the near future, having allies is way better than having enemies.

Still, Michael would not compromise, and would not hesitate to become enemies with someone that tried to snatch what was his, or tried to harm those that he cared about.

"Let’s hear it. If it is something that I can agree with, it can definitely work." Michael responded.

"Since you cannot become my son-in-law, how about you become my godson? If you accept, I can promise you that no matter what you want to do, the Rico family will fully support you." Margaret stated.

It was just that, her words ended up leaving everyone dumbfounded. Nobody had really expected that Margaret was willing to go to this extent, just to form a bond with Michael.

By this point, who would not believe that Margaret had some intentions of getting close to Michael? Of course, Kate and Carol did not know about the past between Zachary and Margaret.

Therefore, to the two of them, Margaret’s actions seemed quite suspicious. It felt as though she was deliberately approaching Michael. Perhaps, she had some intentions?

From the understanding of the two ladies, especially for Kate, it felt as though Margaret was trying to gain some benefits from Michael’s uncle through Michael.

If she could attach herself to Michael, then, she definitely could get some benefits from Michael’s uncle.

Kate definitely knew that the uncle that Michael was talking about was not related to the Santos family. At least, not directly related to the Santos family, otherwise, the relationship between Michael and the Santos family would not be strained.

As she thought about the possibility that Margaret might have some ill intentions towards Michael, she became cautious. She observed Margaret, while at the same time, she made sure to be very close to Michael.

Despite knowing that Michael was stronger than herself, she instinctively wanted to protect him from anyone that wanted to cause him any harm.

Rachel on the other hand looked at Margaret with widened eyes, filled with disbelief. Just like Kate and Carol, she could not understand why Margaret was willing to go this far.

She understood that Margaret held a high position within the Rico family. But even then, it was not as though she could make the final decisions for every move of the family.

For some situations, she would have to consult some of the older members of the family, before she could receive their approval. If they were told that they were supposed to help Michael in any situation, how many of them would agree?

Why did Margaret hold a high position within the family? It was mainly because she was bringing the most benefits to the family. It was because of this that everyone respected her, and allowed her to have her way.

But in a situation where some losses would be incurred in the family, those hypocrites, they would definitely not allow it.

Initially, after Michael rejected the possibility of the two of them getting married, she should have felt happy. After all, she was not happy with this arrangement from the start.

Still, with the reason being that Michael already had someone else, she felt kind of angry? At least, she also had someone that she cared about, but because of this arrangement, she had to break up with him.

She had already made a sacrifice, but Michael was not willing to do it? How was that justified? At least, it seemed that Margaret should have communicated with Michael first, before coming to a decision of asking her to break up with her boyfriend.

As she was feeling aggrieved, she looked at Kate. She wanted to understand, what could make Michael not want to give up on Kate, to marry her.

In terms of appearance, Kate was at the same level as herself? As for the figure, in some areas, she felt that she had a small advantage. But, there was something unusual about Kate.

It seemed to be the same feeling that she had got when she was observing Michael. It was just that this sensation that she was getting from Kate, it seemed to be at a slightly lower level.

Eventually, Rachel lost herself to her own thoughts, not paying much attention to the conversation between Michael and Margaret.

Michael’s reaction to Margaret’s suggestion wasn’t exaggerated. Still, he felt, this lady, she really was quite obsessed. But there was one thing that Michael had to admit. That was the fact that she was kind of intelligent.

At the thought of this, Michael wondered, if he really managed to bring Zachary back to life, what would happen if Margaret knew about it?

Shaking his head at the thought of this and the different possibilities or scenarios that could occur, Michael made a decision.

If he really could bring them back to life, he would make sure that they would become mutants. Only then would they be able to deal with different situations, especially those that might put their lives at risk.

"I’m sorry, but I really am not interested in that idea." Michael shook his head as he responded, not giving any further explanation.

Margaret’s expression visibly shifted. In the depth of her eyes, he could clearly see that she was having an internal struggle.

And truthfully speaking, Margaret was having an internal conflict. She was contemplating on whether to use forceful methods against Michael, or to try to persuade him using other means.

Eventually, she seemed to have come to a decision a few seconds later, as she looked at Rachel. She felt her heart ache at the decision that she had come to.

But she realized, she had to go through with this. As for Rachel’s feelings, she would consider them later on. Additionally, she was willing to compensate her in other ways.

Rachel obviously did not notice the gaze that she received from Margaret, as she was still immersed in her own world.

On the other hand, Michael seemed to notice something, and immediately, he got a bad feeling about what was going to happen next. And it really happened.

"How about this? Since you cannot leave your girlfriend, what about having two of them? When you get married, your girlfriend will be the first wife, while my daughter here will be your second wife, that can work, right?" Margaret asked, her eyes filled with hope.
