Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!
Chapter 689 - Afterglow of the honeymoon (Part 2)
After a few minutes of simply eating quietly, the pope paused and finally spoke his mind. He asked, "Did everything go well with you two? My grandson’s constitution isn’t that strong. You should have noticed that by now."
Surprisingly, instead of just asking his grandson a simple question of "How are you feeling?", the question was directed to me instead. As if understanding that the question is indirectly for him, Clarence answered almost immediately, "I am fine. Everything was blissful and amazing. It can’t be any better than it was. I did not know that being married would be this satisfying."
Clarence’s voice was quite loud, enough for the people from the surrounding tables to hear. Most of the priests around us choked on their food and some have obviously flushed faces from my husbands very direct answer.
For the first time since I have seen this two, Clarence actually smiled towards his grandfather in a relaxed manner. There was no anger or the feistiness that he usually had when speaking to him. He was simply answering the question honestly and nonchalantly.
Seeing that his grandson was looking relaxed and obviously happy, a rare smile can be seen on the pope’s face too. The pope then looked at me with eyes conveying deep gratitude. He then faced his grandson again and commented lightly, "I guess you are indeed okay, seeing that you are eating well and can speak freely. I am glad to hear that you both had an amazing time." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The amicable exchange successfully started more light exchanges and shared stories between the three of us, something that I thought would never be possible as these two were arguing like cats and dogs whenever their paths cross. Though they look amicable now, I think that there are still a lot more other things that they need to talk about and clarify with each other to mend their relationship permanently.
We continued the relaxed conversation in between eating breakfast. I simply listened in, only adding some of my thoughts when I am asked directly. I just want them to have some quality time together without all that drama and angst from before.
In the middle of our conversation, the door to the dining hall opened abruptly and another person came briskly walking in. I winced at the sight as I clearly saw who it was and tried not to look at the direction where he was in. So much for avoiding, he still saw me, walked briskly towards me and sat in front of me as he looked at me coldly, not saying a word.
Now that there are four of us in the table, the awkwardness that was starting to ease a little bit have heightened again plus the addition of a bit of tension. Everybody knows that Clarence and Darth never liked each other’s existence.
The pope coughed awkwardly, looked away and continued eating. Clarence paused and just stared at Darth. Darth couldn’t help but stare back, only to get a smirk from my husband whom then just continued eatingshortly after as if he just saw something unimportant.
As for me, I stopped eating and leaned back a bit, staring at the man who is obviously angry and had a lot to say. He stared at me and just as he was about to speak, I raised my hand together to signify for him to not speak. I smiled and told him, "You eat your breakfast first and then meet me at my quarters after."
Darth’s mouth then clamped shut, he stood up and went in front to get his food obediently. While he was away, I told grandfather-in-law and Clarence to go straight to the pope’s office for their much needed conversation while I handle this other ticking time bomb.
Contrary to expectations, Clarence simply nodded his head and continued eating. The pope looked at me and then Clarence then nodded absentmindedly as well. After a few minutes, Darth came back and sat in front of me with his food. He ate speedily while still staring at me like I was the one he was chewing to bits and not the food in front of him.
I continued eating as well, ignoring the glares that was being sent my way. The pope was the first one to finish eating and he immediately excused himself, saying that he has a lot of paperwork to finish in his office.
The next one to finish was Clarence, who then confidently leaned in and gave me a peck on my lips. He then smiled and told me that he would need to talk with his grandfather for about an hour. He even teased me openly that I shouldn’t miss him too much since I would be seeing him again real soon before gracefully exiting the dining hall.
I also finished my meal but simply stayed seated since Darth was not yet done with his meal. Once he has finished, I stood up and turned around to make my way to the dining hall door. I could hear Darth’s hurried footsteps following me from behind. I was just glad that he isn’t crazy enough to scream out all of his grievances in the middle of the dining hall for everyone else to hear. If that happened, I do not think that Clarence would be as calm as he was earlier.
No matter how much I show my husbandsthat I care and value them, that does not mean that they would stop feeling jealous or insecure of other men and even previous husbands once in a while. I couldn’t help but sigh as I remember that my connection with this little stalker is already a done deal the moment I made contact with that little boy in his consciousness.
Sometimes, I ask myself why I cared too much and helped too much. It is not like I can save everybody or change how men are treated in this world quickly.
It was also never my intention to make men think that I am interested in them or seducing them but it is just that I don’t like seeing people who were hungry, sick, being abused, crying or being bullied. It just so happened that in this world, the target of all those horrible situations were men. Honestly, I would have helped just the same whether it was women, an elderly person or young children.
