Inner Thoughts Exposed: Reborn General's Farming Daughter Has a System
Chapter 45: Successful Day
At times, the System was quite desperate because their hopeless mission would end up in failure. In order to improve the possibility of completing the mission, it would even read all sorts of books.
The System had studied knowledge about farming, business, and even school subjects. Even though it could just retrieve data and store it in its memory, it still needed to learn how to apply the knowledge.
Over time, the System had become Xiao Qingya’s personal encyclopedia and advisor.
[The recipe for this soy milk is pretty simple, Little Ya. People might figure it out soon or acquire the recipe from faraway places, so make use of its novelty to sell more and acquire money.]
It began to preach more about its business tips, telling them to make use of the drink’s novelty and make more variety in the future.
Zhou Anran listened, and she also found that the System was right. However, she was also quite surprised when she noticed Xiao Yuyan’s little action.
She knew her daughter’s temperament quite well. If it was Xiao Yuyan who had acted, it might have come from her own idea and not the System. Xiao Yuyan had acted without the System’s urging.
Her daughter seemed to have a knack for making money.
"Anran? Did you hear my question?" The woman waved her hand in front of Zhou Anran’s face.
It snapped Zhou Anran back to her senses. She coughed softly to ease the embarrassment. "I will sell the soybean drinks again tomorrow."
"Great! I will come." The woman sounded quite excited.
Soon, she bid them farewell and skipped over like a spirited lady.
Zhou Anran watched as she approached a man, possibly her husband, and then, their figures were quickly obscured by the darkness as they walked away.
The woman had introduced herself as Su Wan, and she was currently travelling with her family. She had been staying at their stall for a few hours, chatting with Zhou Anran.
"Let’s return home," Zhou Anran quickly gathered their ceramic jugs. They would leave the washed cups at their stall.
She pulled the oil lamp and led their children back home. On the way, Xiao Qingya sat on her second brother’s shoulder, looking exhausted, yet her eyes revealed that she was satisfied.
The System’s idea actually worked!
[Now you admit that I am great, huh? I wonder who was calling me useless some time ago.] The System was clearly still holding a grudge.
Xiao Qingya yawned tiredly. [You also called me useless. We were even.]
Feeling that the little one’s clutch on him was loosening, Xiao Fenghao was afraid Xiao Qingya would fall, so he stopped and changed her position, carrying her in his arms.
Not long after, she already dozed off.
The surroundings were dark, and Zhou Anran walked in front of her children, using the oil lamp to illuminate the way.
Xiao Fenghao stared at the empty ceramic jugs that his twin sisters were carrying, and he suddenly had an idea. Today was the first time they were trying to sell soy milk and they definitely weren’t prepared enough.
He would make a wooden carrier.
"Mother, should we start opening our stall for soybean drink in the morning?" Xiao Yuyan suddenly opened the conversation.
Xiao Yuxi was puzzled. "Why in the morning? They still like our soybean drink even in the afternoon."
"In the morning, it’s the time when people start coming to set up their stalls." Xiao Yuyan started to explain. "They might directly come from their fields to the village market. The sun is always shining hot, and they will definitely crave for something to drink."
A look of understanding crossed Xiao Yuxi’s face. Her eyes lit up. "Yan’er, you are so smart!"
Zhou Anran smiled. "If you want to sell them in the morning, you all should go to bed quickly tonight and wake up early."
The chatter of their small family dispelled the cold from the night.
Once they arrived home, they washed up, ate their dinner and quickly went to sleep, filled with expectation for the next day.
The first one to wake up was Zhou Anran. Before they set off to sell their soy milk, she had soaked some soybeans in the water. Besides selling the soy milk in the market, she also wanted to send some for their neighbours.
In a few days, more soybeans will also mature. In order to preserve the soybeans longer, she also dried the rest under the sun.
As soon as the twins woke up, they also helped their mother in the kitchen.
"Mother, why are we making so much?" Xiao Yuxi asked.
The moment they stepped into the kitchen and washed their faces, Zhou Anran was in the middle of boiling a huge pot by herself. She was also still grinding more soybeans.
"Yan’er, Xi’er. Go wash up and deliver the drink to our neighbours later," Zhou Anran told them.
There weren’t many people who planted soybeans in their village, so she wanted to share them. Besides soy milk, she also had cooked steamed buns with soybeans filling.
"Alright, Mother." Xiao Yuxi nodded seriously, dragging her younger sister along.
Once they finished cleaning themselves, they delivered the food and drink to their neighbours. By the time they finished, Xiao Fenghao had woken up.
He had stayed up late last night, making wooden carriers for the ceramic jugs so that they could bring them more easily.
Xiao Qingya was nestled in her mother’s embrace as Zhou Anran stirred the soy milk in the pot. She waved at her second brother the moment she saw him entering.
He ruffled his little sister’s fluffy head and turned to their mother, yawning slightly. "Mother, when will we be going?"
Zhou Anran sighed. "In a hour."
He nodded, and went to wash himself. Zhou Anran and her twin daughters lifted the pot together, waiting for the soy milk to cool down a little before they put them in the ceramic jugs.
"Mother, Auntie Liu, Auntie..." Xiao Yuxi listed several names at once. Xiao Yuyan added a few names that her sister had missed. "... they want to buy our soybean drinks."
At this moment, Xiao Yuyan just realized something and looked at their mother in amazement.
