Inner Thoughts Exposed: Reborn General's Farming Daughter Has a System
Chapter 57: Terrible Fight
Xiao Qingya was listening to her sisters and mother discussing Zhou Shiming’s suspicious action.
"Bad! He’s bad!" She explained to her mother and sisters anxiously.
At this moment, Zhou Anran and the twins were also trying to put on a performance that seemed convincing for the little one.
Xiao Yuxi whispered. "Little Ya’s words make sense, don’t you think? If cow dung is that good, why doesn’t Uncle save it for himself like he always did?"
With a helpless glare, Zhou Anran scolded her daughter half-heartedly. "Xi’er, you can’t talk about your uncle like that."
Compared to Chen Huayun, Zhou Shiming proved to be an ambitious person. He could even endure bringing over such smelly cow dung over to their fields by himself.
Once his mind was set on something, he would pursue it relentlessly.
Alas, he had inherited some of his father’s intelligence but also his mother’s terrible and selfish personality. He would achieve whatever he wanted, it didn’t matter whether he sacrificed his closest kin in the process.
"Mother, we should stop Uncle. I think that Eldest Sister is right," Xiao Yuyan bit her lip. "He is acting unusual."
Xiao Qingya nodded. "Unusual! Bad!"
Just as Xiao Qingya finished saying these words, a loud slap followed by cursing startled them.
The other Xiao family members were stunned by the sudden turn of events. They saw Xiao Fenghao fighting with Zhou Shiming, punching and wrestling each other.
"Elder Brother, Hao’er, stop!" Zhou Anran was panicking.
At the beginning, Xiao Fenghao could still hold on against the adult Zhou Shiming. However, soon, he lost his advantage. Gradually, he became the one who was at the losing end.
He wasn’t even an adult, just a mere fifteen years old, and of course, facing Zhou Shiming who was a full adult, he couldn’t gain any advantage.
Xiao Fenghao’s face became all bruised, yet his eyes still brimmed with ferocity and stubbornness. It didn’t matter that he needed to endure three or four punches or kicks in order to punch Zhou Shiming once.
Seeing the increasingly worse situation for her son, Zhou Anran braced herself to separate the fight. The twins and Xiao Qingya were watching anxiously on the side, Xiao Yuyan’s eyes already brimming with tears.
"Second Brother, Uncle, stop it, don’t fight anymore!" Xiao Yuxi shouted helplessly.
Zhou Anran stumbled when a strong punch from her eldest brother landed on her. Her shoulder was quickly bruised as she fell to the ground.
"Mother!" The twins ran toward her, helping her to get up from the ground.
Zhou Shiming finally snapped out of it. He threw the weak Xiao Fenghao to the lump of cow dung and sneered, "Bunch of ungrateful wretches."
With that, he turned around and left the scene.
Zhou Anran shook her daughter’s hand and approached Xiao Fenghao, who was writhing on the ground, almost unconscious. Xiao Yuxi was trying to drag him from the cow dung.
[System, will my second brother die?]
Xiao Qingya was also panicking upon seeing so much blood on him. Not to mention that his wounds were now coated with unimaginable bacteria from the cow dung.
If he didn’t get decent treatment, he might even lose his life due to infection. After all, the medical knowledge and technology in the ancient era wasn’t as advanced as in the modern times.
[Little Ya, calm down, okay? With me here, I will think of a way to save your brother.]
The little one picked a bowl and carried the water from the water vat toward her second brother. Her lips trembled, but she desperately tried to rein in her emotions. She couldn’t cry!
They already moved Xiao Fenghao to the field hut slowly, afraid any sudden movement might exacerbate his injuries.
With a somber face, Zhou Anran took the bowl from Xiao Qingya. Her hand was throbbing badly, yet she acted as if she didn’t sense it at all.
"Xi’er, Yan’er, use the wooden buckets and bring some water," Zhou Anran ordered seriously. She wiped Xiao Fenghao’s face, who had become unconscious.
Her fist clenched slightly. Why is her eldest brother so ruthless?! Even against her much younger son, Zhou Shiming never thought of sparing him. Each of his punches and kicks were done in full force.
The twins moved quickly. They didn’t even mind the smell anymore, using their own clothes to wipe Xiao Fenghao’s wounds clean.
Xiao Qingya secretly wiped her tears, feeling somewhat useless. The System consoled her, feeling quite heartbroken.
After a while, Xiao Fenghao’s wounds were somewhat a lot cleaner, but it would still need a physician to examine him. Zhou Anran’s hand was hurting badly, and they couldn’t carry Xiao Fenghao by themselves.
Xiao Yuxi ran toward nearby fields, trying to find a few kind neighbours who could help them. She met several kind-looking uncles who called over some of his friends and followed her worriedly.
"Xiao girl, what happened to your brother?" The burly, honest-looking man asked in concern.
Xiao Yuxi didn’t need to answer him, because soon, they arrived at the field hut and they could witness Xiao Fenghao’s state by themselves. The few adult men gasped.
"Let’s not dawdle any longer. His state isn’t good." A man among the group frowned as soon as he got closer. "We need to find a physician as soon as possible."
They all made a temporary stretcher and put Xiao Fenghao there. The teenager groaned in pain as they lifted him, his forehead beaded with sweat, his brows furrowing deeply.
Xiao Yuxi quickly ran toward the village, wanting to find Physician Li to treat her Second Brother.
The men carried Xiao Fenghao with full concentration, trying not to make too much movement so that the stretcher wouldn’t shake, which could result in further worsening his situation.
"Zhou Anran, what happened to your son?" Upon arriving home, one middle-aged man asked. "Perhaps we can help."
Zhou Anran could only shake her head stiffly, and didn’t explain much. "Uncles, thank you so much for your help. Please stay for a while. I will bring you some refreshment."
Not long after, Xiao Yuxi came back, panting heavily. Her face was pale with worry.
"Mother, Physician Li isn’t at home. He went to the town and it’s unknown when he will be back."
