INTERSTELLAR ERA: MY MIND IS A LIBRARY - Chapter 40: CONVERGENCE
Amelia weaved through the battlefield like a god of death. Her katana cut through flesh like paper.
One of the criminals lunged at her with sharp claws that threatened to pierce through her body.
She was prepared. A calm step to the side and a follow-up kick to the rib.
Before he could even fly away from the force of the kick, her blade met him, cutting through his torso cleanly. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
She did not stop for a minute.
It was like she has a more personal vendetta than their mission to destroy them.
And yes. She constantly stole glances towards where Silas stood protecting Lilura.
She saw the girl try to make advances.
It only made her rage burn hotter. She poured the ferocity into her attacks, killing each enemy in the most efficient and gruesome way possible.
The gang was far outmatched by the Veritas Corp which had more than 10 Master rank cultivators and the rest being at Expert rank.
Even the vice general of the Veritas Corp was already at the Grandmaster rank.
He just sat casually atop a tree, gazing down at the battle with a bored expression.
His green hair was long, going down his back till it got to his waist. His cream eyes was enough to captivate anyone that looked into them.
The only time he intervened was when a corp member was about to die. He would create an aether spear to kill the attacker.
That was all.
"That girl is good," he whispered, seeing Amelia test through enemy after enemy.
A smile appeared on face as he felt new presences enter the battlefield.
Three, there were exactly three people at the Master rank.
These three, as if controlled by something, did not go for any other master ranks.
They split, one heading for Silas, another for Amelia, and the last one for the Vice general.
Amelia smiled, seeing one of the intruders separate Silas from Lilura.
Her body twisted, dodging the chain attack targeted at her head.
It stopped mid-air, then coiled and followed Amelia’s body again.
Amelia tapped the floor lightly, somersaulting above the chain.
Her hand shit out in the air, grabbing the chain with all her strength.
As she landed, she finally saw the attacker.
A woman with a thick scar across her face. She looked at Amelia with unfiltered hostility.
Amelia, unbothered, flooded her hand with aether.
The lady felt the sudden increase in grip strength. But she could not react.
Amelia yanked it from her.
The chain slithered out of the lady’s hand.
Amelia did not stand on ceremony.
Unlike Silas who preferred to take things slowly, Amelia went all in from start.
Her body dipped slightly, then, like an arrow, shot forward.
The light entered the lady’s face but she was prepared.
Amelia swung up, in an horizontal slash.
The lady’s hand moved in a blur, unsheathing a dagger from her belt.
A loud metallic chime rang through the air as both sides struck each other.
The impact made both sides stumble backward.
But the lady was already moving before she even regained her footing.
She closed the gap, dagger slicing towards Amelia’s chin.
Amelia ducked, her body bending from the waist. The dagger’s tip passed through where her head once was.
Her katana vanished, returning to her AI space.
Her palm hit the floor and she kicked up with both legs, hitting the woman in the chin.
The woman stumbled backward, her eyes bloodshot as the pain registered.
She shook her head and rushed in, dagger swinging in short, rapid cuts.
Amelia moved with her, sliding between each swing. Left, right, under, to the side. The blade kept missing by a small margin.
Then one slid past Amelia’s form.
A clean cut on her arm. Not deep but still enough to cause problems.
The lady grinned, licking the blood off the dagger like a maniac.
Amelia did not like what she did, and for sure, the lady was going to pay for it.
Using the brief pause, the woman came in again, slamming her elbow at Amelia’s shoulder and following with a thrust towards her chin.
Amelia was destabilized by the sudden hit but she regained control just as quickly, sidestepping by a close margin.
Her gaze hardened. With a sharp twist, she moved to the side of the lady.
Before the lady could even register, the sound of flesh parting reached her ears.
She looked down, to her waist.
The last thing she saw was blood spilling from all sides before her body slid apart.
Amelia shook the blood of her katana and sheathed in calmly.
The vice general of the Veritas Corps, Azrael, looked at the last Master rank cultivator running towards him, his brows furrowed.
"Of everyone he could fight, he came for me directly," he muttered. "Is this bravery or foolishness?"
The cultivator stopped at the foot of the tree, his bloodshot eyes locked on Azrael.
Azrael smiled lightly. "You seem fun," he muttered.
"How about this, if you can dodge my attack for the next 1 minute, I would leave this battlefield," he said.
The cultivator did not even reply, condition or not, he had been assigned to fight against Azrael and he was going to do that with all his might.
But Azrael did not care about his thoughts either.
He snapped his finger lightly.
That was all. A massive shadow formed above him.
Instinctively, he looked up.
Before he could, the thousands of aether spears began to descend.
"It was never a condition," the cultivator muttered as the spear pierced through his skull and dug into the floor.
"Pathetic, couldn’t even withstand one spear," Azrael scoffed.
His brows knitted.
He turned his gaze towards the place Bryan had pushed the leader of the base to.
The pillar of dark flames made him shiver subconsciously.
"General Bryan can’t handle this alone," he muttered.
His body began to drop to the floor, landing softly.
Without even stopping,
he dashed forward.
Silas, Amelia, and the 12 master rank cultivators followed behind.
"This is going to be tough," Silas whispered beneath his breath.
