Chapter 86: PUNCHING BAG

Amelia’s body moved in a flash of blue, appearing behind the attacker.

She came down from above, her katana appearing in her hand as she slashed downward at the person’s neck.

The attacker twisted mid air, raising his hand to catch the blade.

Clang.

A chime echoed through the air as the katana struck hard against his gauntlet.

The attacker rolled over the mattress and tore forward before he could stand fully.

Amelia landed just at the edge of the bed.

Her body dropped low to avoid the attacker’s lunge.

The attacker crashed into the wall behind her, destroying it with ease.

He pulled his hand out, turning back to look at Amelia.

She was gone, her body a flicker as she appeared in his sight.

A whistle spread through the room as her katana arced toward the attacker’s neck.

The attacker ducked, letting the blade slice through the space his head had once occupied.

The katana did not stop there. It caved through the wall behind, splitting it into two perfect halves.

A screeching sound rang out as the walls fell apart.

The attacker already moved, leaping backward to avoid another thrust aimed at his head.

His body crossed the last block of wall between the outside and Amelia’s room.

Amelia looked at the attacker properly for the first time.

He was tall, with long hair that cascaded down his back.

Amelia studied him for a while, her gaze scrutinizing.

Then she tore forward again, her katana glistening as sunlight bathed its edges.

The attacker was not to be outdone. He lunged at her, not waiting for Amelia to reach him.

Amelia swung forward. He punched at the same time, directly at the katana.

Boom.

The floor beneath them exploded as both sides collided.

They began to plummet to the ground at a rapid pace.

Mid air, Amelia did not stop. She pressed on, her katana coming from above at the attacker’s shoulder.

The attacker’s body twisted, narrowly evading the attack.

Amelia was already moving, her katana a streak as it tore toward his torso.

Using one of the stone slabs falling alongside them as a foothold, the attacker jumped over the attack.

His leg pressed against the slab, tilting it until it was in a horizontal position he could stand on.

Amelia did not wait. She caught the edge of the slab, pulling herself onto it.

The attacker was already there.

As she got onto the slab, his fist was already in her face.

Amelia’s body dropped low.

She bounced back up almost immediately, hitting the attacker’s jaw with the hilt of her katana.

His head jerked backward from the pain but he held on.

The air detonated as his leg shot toward her ribs.

Amelia caught the kick with her elbow.

She skidded sideways, her footing faltering for a fraction of a second.

She regained her composure just in time to avoid another kick aimed at her head.

She swung her blade forward, coating it in enough aether that the air seemed to get sliced by its advance.

The attacker ducked beneath the attack.

The blade sliced through the space his head had occupied, releasing a wide arc of aether that tore through the walls around them.

He drove his fist upward in an uppercut that connected.

Amelia was thrown into the air, her body plummeting just as fast from the increased gravity that came with how far they were falling.

The attacker’s fist flashed upward to meet her from behind, sending a concentrated burst of aether along its path.

Amelia’s body flickered, like a glitch in reality.

She appeared behind the attacker, her sword slashing at his neck.

The attacker reacted on instinct, bending from his torso.

He rolled forward to create space between them, but it was unnecessary.

Amelia closed the gap immediately, her katana thrusting down at the attacker’s chest.

The attacker reacted quickly, coating his chest with aether dense enough to send a pulse through his immediate space.

A cracking sound echoed through the air as the katana connected.

Then another.

Layer after layer of aether coating began to break under Amelia’s relentless push.

Then it stopped.

Amelia looked up, only to be met by the attacker’s fist.

Her head jerked backward as the fist smashed against her face.

Not waiting, he delivered another punch at her chest.

The slab cracked, spiderweb fissures spreading across its surface.

The attacker jumped, his body rolling through the air as his leg came down against Amelia’s stomach.

Her body crashed into the slab, destroying it from the force of the attack.

The attacker moved quickly, his body zipping through the air as he jumped to another slab.

He performed the same motion as before, creating another platform to stand on.

He squinted as he looked around for Amelia.

"Looking for me?" The voice came from behind, calm and steady.

The attacker turned back quickly, catching Amelia’s katana in his palm.

His knee buckled.

He was pressed into the stone beneath him as he tried to hold on.

Something cracked.

He looked at his hand.

His gauntlet had begun to chip away as Amelia’s blade pressed against it. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

He clicked his tongue in anger, pushing up with as much strength as he could muster.

Amelia smiled lightly at his struggles.

She drove her leg forward, breaking the sound barrier as it crashed into his ribs.

A crunching sound filled the silence, then came a scream.

The attacker yelled as he felt his ribs crack under the weight of Amelia’s attack.

The stone beneath them suddenly jerked, coming to a stop.

Amelia looked up at their new location.

"Isn’t this the kitchen?" She muttered, bending as low as she could to avoid the attacker’s counter.

A vial was in his hand as he grinned at Amelia.

"You think a wound can keep me down?" He asked.

Amelia shook her head.

"Heal as many times as you want. You will only serve as a punching bag for me to release all my frustration."

As she said those words, both sides lunged.
