Chapter 302: Chapter 302: The Second Bloodline Power

Huangfu Xinyue stepped forward to pull Zhang Jingyu away, but Zhang Jingyu thrashed about like a madwoman, refusing to leave. She even hugged a pillar in the hall with all her might, unwilling to let go.

Yu Mingche’s brow was tightly furrowed. ’I shouldn’t have let them into the villa.’ He had only let her in because he thought her making a scene at the gate would reflect poorly on him.

But now, Zhang Jingyu was having a complete meltdown in the banquet hall. She was, after all, a young female Controller, and the Light Computer on her wrist had a recording function. Even with Yu Mingche’s high status and important position, he couldn’t use force on her. He had only used a subtle method to prevent her from making any sound.

Just as Huangfu Xinyue signaled for Shen Wenwen to help her drag the woman away, a powerful energy fluctuation rippled out. The entire villa was flooded with a dense Fire Element Energy, accompanied by an immense, oppressive aura.

At the first touch of this energy, Huangfu Xinyue felt her strength drain away, and the Companion Spirit inside her began to shudder uncontrollably. She turned her head and saw that Zhang Jingyu, Shen Wenwen, and the others had also collapsed, their bodies limp. Shen Wenwen was staring back at her, her face a mask of utter shock.

The Attendants with lower Spiritual Power Levels standing in the corners of the hall couldn’t withstand the pressure and dropped to their knees one by one.

Yu Mingche’s expression shifted the moment he felt this aura. He gave an order to Yan Fuzhen and Feng Linran, "Watch them."

Yu Mingche sped toward the Practice Room where Ning Xuan was in seclusion. The closer he got, the more intense the oppressive aura became. When he was just a short distance away, he saw that the Practice Room was filled with a crimson glow.

His Companion Spirit, the Nine-tailed Fox, began to stir restlessly. Suddenly, a small, fiery-red bird flew out of the Practice Room and straight toward him.

The small bird landed on Yu Mingche’s shoulder. Instantly, he felt an invisible pressure, as heavy as a mountain, descend upon him.

The pressure wasn’t physical, yet it felt as if the blood in his veins had frozen for an instant. His breath caught in his throat.

It was as if the weight of the entire space was pressing down on his body, or as if an ancient, profound soul was piercing through time itself to fix him with a cold, imperious gaze, causing his own Divine Soul to tremble instinctively in the deepest part of his being.

This wasn’t a clash of power, but an absolute suppression originating from a higher tier of existence, from the very source of one’s bloodline. It made him feel as insignificant as a speck of dust, overcome with the urge to prostrate himself in worship.

The Little Red Bird perched on his shoulder was the epicenter of this terrifying pressure.

Despite being tiny—no bigger than his palm—it exuded an aura that made his heart pound with fear.

’This must be the true form of Ning Xuan’s Companion Spirit,’ he thought. ’The Fire Spirit Vermilion Bird. Even in its fledgling state, it possesses an endless, oppressive power.’

Its body was covered in feathers as dazzling and vibrant as flames. Each plume looked as though it were condensed from the very essence of molten lava, shimmering with a fiery luster in the light.

Its tail feathers were not the magnificent, flowing plumes of a Phoenix. Instead, there were three short, sharp feathers shaped like the leaping tips of a flame. They were a deep and mysterious cerulean-gold, seeming to hold the very laws of primordial chaos and the death of stars.

Its small beak was like a carving of the purest red jade, yet its eyes were sharp enough to pierce the soul, holding the aloof arrogance of a being that looked down upon all of creation.

The Nine-tailed Fox was trembling violently. The Little Red Bird let out a short, soft cry, "CHIRP," and the Nine-tailed Fox was uncontrollably forced to reveal its form.

The proud, mysterious, and cunning Nine-tailed Fox had utterly lost its usual composure. It hadn’t appeared willingly; it had been forcibly "coaxed" out by the irresistible pressure emanating from the Little Red Bird!

Its fluffy fur stood on end, and its nine massive tails no longer swayed gracefully. Instead, they trembled stiffly with palpable fear, pressing close against the side of Yu Mingche’s neck and his back, as if seeking some small measure of protection from its master’s body. The Little Red Bird seemed satisfied with the Nine-tailed Fox’s reaction. It averted its gaze from the trembling fox and stood quietly on Yu Mingche’s shoulder.

Just as Yu Mingche stood frozen, not daring to move a muscle, a peculiar energy began to seep from the Practice Room. This energy was completely different from the scorching Fire Element Energy; it had a light, tranquil feel to it.

Through the window, Yu Mingche saw the light inside the Practice Room shift from fiery red to a faint blue.

Yu Mingche glanced down at the Little Red Bird on his shoulder and saw a look of indignation and helplessness in its eyes. His heart pounded in his chest. ’What kind of reaction is this from the Vermilion Bird?’

’Is there another Bloodline Energy lying dormant inside Ning Xuan?’

’Impossible. A person’s genetic makeup is complex, but to successfully awaken a Companion Spirit, one bloodline must be dominant. It wasn’t unheard of for a Spirit Controller to awaken two Companion Spirits, but such cases were exceedingly rare. It either meant both bloodlines were mediocre, or the Spirit Controller’s first Companion Spirit had died completely, allowing them to awaken a second one only after suffering grievous harm and undergoing a long recovery.’

’Ning Xuan’s situation didn’t fit either of those scenarios. The being on his shoulder was the Fire Spirit Vermilion Bird. Its powerful presence left him terrified of making a wrong move, lest he be "purified" by the Vermilion Bird Fire.’

’With a Companion Spirit as powerful as a Legendary Fire Spirit Vermilion Bird, any other Bloodline Power lurking in Ning Xuan’s body should have been completely absorbed by the Vermilion Bird, leaving it no chance to develop.’

’And yet, judging by the Vermilion Bird’s reaction, it seemed utterly helpless against this other energy. How is that possible?’

Yu Mingche was utterly shocked. He silently focused on the spreading of the other energy. It was clearly much weaker than the Fire Element Energy. ’With the Vermilion Bird’s power, it should have no trouble suppressing this.’

The Little Red Bird gazed forlornly toward the Practice Room, then silently turned its body away, as if it couldn’t bear to watch what was happening.

The light, ethereal energy grew richer and richer. Yu Mingche thought he could hear the faint roar of a dragon, and then what sounded like the deep rumble of wind and thunder converging.

Yu Mingche realized that the other energy now pervading the air was the Wind and Thunder Power. It spread silently, as light and gentle as willow catkins in spring, yet it carried a strange quality that made his skin tingle and his very Divine Soul tremble.

This Wind and Thunder Power was utterly different from the violent, rampaging lightning he knew—the kind that tore apart heaven and earth. This power seemed unnaturally "calm," like a bottomless, frigid pool with a placid surface. And yet, beneath that seemingly gentle stillness, Yu Mingche acutely sensed a terrifying, forcibly restrained ferocity.

Beneath its gentle facade lay a suppressed madness, like an immense thunderstorm condensed into a single spark. Such extreme compression promised an even more terrifying and unstable explosion.
