Investing in My Yandare Villainess Fiancée:Each Reward Fuels My Growth
Chapter 38: Investment — Trigger
In another part of the first floor, the student council core members were faced with a very angry revived Minotaur.
"Is it me, or did its revival piss it off more?"
August made the statement with his usual carefree tone, undisturbed by the troubling situation they currently found themselves in.
"Not just that. It jumped a rank."
Rose stroked her hair. She lifted herself from the rock she sat on with unprecedented grace and elegance. A miniature smile fell on her lips.
"Tee will be very satisfied with this meal."
She didn’t care that it got stronger. Instead, she only felt that now it would make a decent meal for her blade. Temogi Anteca was a unique blade that feasted upon the blood of its opponent to give its host a massive mana boost and affinity boost, amongst other devastating effects.
Leonard turned his head around slowly, exuding a commanding yet subtle aura. His golden eyes were filled with something that could only be defined as "madness intertwined with brutality."
"Why don’t I take this one?" A psychotic smile crept across his face. "As the student council president, of course." He twisted his head towards Rose in an abnormal manner.
"I hope you don’t mind, Rose-chan and Tee?"
This wasn’t a question, nor did he require their utmost understanding. It was a bloody threat, not even an order.
"I’m surrounded by monsters," Rose scowled. She had known him almost her whole life, well enough to know when she needed to take a step back. She folded her arms and placed her butt on the rock.
"This is going to be amazing." Futaba’s eyes gleamed with excitement. She had always been one to enjoy Leonard’s alternative personality, not the facade he displayed before the other students.
"Popcorn, anyone?" Out of the blue, she held multiple cups of popcorn in her arms.
"Don’t mind if I do." August grabbed a cup from her arms.
"I could use one." Rose raised a hand.
"Here you go, girl." Futaba threw her a cup.
Jin was still butt-flat on the sand and shriveling from the very sight of the upgraded Minotaur. He could barely believe his current situation.
"It just came back to life and became even stronger. Yet you all are still very much calm and allowing him to face it alone." He yelped.
He didn’t get any response from them. All he was faced with was nothing but crude silence. He was clearly an outsider who was just there to fill an empty slot.
Leonard’s back was turned against the Minotaur, so it took the opportunity to strike him with its huge muscular fist. The only thing the attack hit was the dry air, nothing else. Leonard simply disappeared like a flash of light.
His body twisted through the air, and before the Minotaur could even understand its situation, all five fingers on its left hand had been ripped off.
The brief instant Leonard came into the Minotaur’s line of sight, it moved with a burst of speed, and in a fleeting moment, it punched Leonard in the torso, lifting him off the ground. His flying body blew a hole through a sandy cloud.
An unsavoury grin crept across the Minotaur’s face. It thought it had won, that one of its foes was defeated. Its large red eyes, with numerous veins pulsing within them, looked towards the other core members of the student council and Jin.
The Minotaur placed one of its hooves forward, ready to move on to the next prey. They all looked very much unbothered except Jin, who was about to wet his pants.
"Hckkkkkkkkk." He grabbed his hair as cold sweats of terror dripped profusely down his chin.
"I told you we shouldn’t have let him go alone." He continued to shrivel, brown eyes dilated with fear. "Now we are done for," he muttered.
Futaba pointed a finger towards the sky.
"Eh, I think you should pay more attention." She continued to eat her popcorn.
The stupid Minotaur couldn’t have hoped to understand what she meant, so it continued its advance.
Sparkles of different sizes blew up rapidly in the sky. Their red light illuminated the brown-coloured sandy sky. A triggering sound echoed very loudly, as if a bomb or missile had exploded.
A streak of combustive explosions descended from the sky and landed on the Minotaur with a great BOOM. The Minotaur’s buttress-like body was thrust into the ground. It formed a crater shaped like its body. Consecutive explosions erupted from the sand in a ring-like shape.
"Affinity Switch: Explosion."
Leonard’s figure came into view as the dust created by the explosion dissipated. But he looked totally different. Golden glowing hair floated upwards, and a powerful aura surrounded him.
"13th Tier Spell: Dynamite."
He stood atop the fallen Minotaur with his bare feet on the sand through the hole in its chest. The flesh within the hole on the Minotaur’s chest joined together rapidly. Leonard blasted himself upwards with an explosion, and in the blink of an eye, the Minotaur was back on its feet.
It scrolled over the sand with its giant hoof. On instinct, it went all out. Black energy sizzled around its body, and its red eyes glowed even brighter. A dark orb of energy gathered on its fist.
A straight beam of condensed dark energy shot at Leonard. He evaded the beam with point-blank speed. In a flash, he was already in front of the Minotaur before it launched its next attack.
"August," Rose called out calmly, sipping the tea that she got from who knows where.
"Okay, Futaba, step back, will you?" August sighed. Futaba was so invested in the fight that her eyes were literally sparkling.
"Tsk. Alright." She shuffled backwards.
August placed his hand on the sand. A spell circle burst forth on the sand. The subtle glow of blue light radiated from the spell circle. His hair floated mystically.
"15th Tier Spell: Aegis."
A blue bubble covered them in a dome. Jin suddenly felt all his anxiety and fear disappearing.
"A high-class protective spell," he gasped.
"Nah. Let’s just hope it holds." August dusted his hands.
In what felt like an eternity for the Minotaur was only but a fleeting moment for Leonard. He discarded his sword and used only his bare hands. A surge of energy formed rapidly within his conjoined palms.
"17th Tier Spell: End of the World."
The combustive energy exploded like a typhoon, destroying the entire area. The protective bubble still held firm, but the rest of the area was reduced to charred sand. And as for the Minotaur, not even a blood cell remained.
A weird bug laid on the spot of the Minotaur’s demise.
"Guys. Why the hell is there a bug here?" Leonard scowled.
