Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 253 - 252: Target: Mutated Zombies
After listening to Lin Xinghai’s explanation, Yang Jiansheng gulped. He had been focused solely on how to get through this crisis.
He hadn’t had the time, nor the courage, to dwell on these other issues.
Now that Lin Xinghai had pointed them out, he was forced to confront them. But just thinking about these issues filled him with despair.
"Lin Xinghai, do you... do you have a way to solve these problems?" Yang Jiansheng asked, his face full of hope.
’Since Lin Xinghai brought these problems up, he most likely has a solution for them, too.’ 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"It’s simple! We just kill all four of those Mutated Zombies," Lin Xinghai said.
Yang Jiansheng was at a loss for words.
’Did he think I didn’t know that killing the four Mutated Zombies would solve everything?’
’The real question is *how* to kill them!’
As if guessing what Yang Jiansheng was thinking, Lin Xinghai smiled. "It’s not as complicated as you think. As long as we find a way to divert some of their attention, I can handle them."
"The other two support teams, aren’t they on their way to the Mutated Zombies’ location to attack them?"
"Yes, that’s right!" Yang Jiansheng nodded quickly. "Are you saying you want them to draw the Mutated Zombies’ attention?"
"That’s right. That’s all it will take," Lin Xinghai confirmed with a nod.
Even though he got a definite answer, Yang Jiansheng still found it hard to believe.
It sounded far too simple, almost like a joke.
"So, how much of their attention do they need to draw? The support teams should have brought some weapons capable of handling Mutated Zombies. Should they..."
"They don’t need to." Before Yang Jiansheng could finish, Lin Xinghai cut him off with a wave of his hand. "Don’t scare them away. If they run, you can deal with the fallout yourself."
"You can tell them that, if possible, they should try to take out some of the Blood-colored Beetles. They can ignore the rest."
Yang Jiansheng found this rather absurd. ’Is Lin Xinghai actually worried *for* the Mutated Zombies?’
’Those Mutated Zombies were no pushovers. Even if the support teams brought some heavy hitters, did he think the Mutated Zombies wouldn’t dodge when they fired?’
’Not only would they dodge, but they would also fight back.’
’So if a real fight broke out, forget about driving them back—it was questionable whether the support teams could even come out on top.’
Of course, Yang Jiansheng wasn’t about to say anything that would diminish his own side’s morale. He just nodded silently to show that he would relay the message.
"So, when do you plan to leave?" Yang Jiansheng asked.
"Let’s assess the situation first," Lin Xinghai replied. "Can you monitor the Mutated Zombies’ position from here?"
"We can. From the command room."
Soon, the two arrived at the top floor of the office building, where the command room was located.
Using radar and optical scanning equipment, they could get a clear picture of the evolving battle. Of course, for more precise intelligence, they could also send out scouts for direct surveillance.
The Mutated Zombies were certainly under constant surveillance. After getting an update, Lin Xinghai had a firm grasp of the situation.
The support teams from Outpost 33 and Outpost 22 had already joined forces and were closing in on the Mutated Zombies. They were now just over 500 meters away.
A little closer, and both sides would be within each other’s ranged attack distance.
At this range, the Mutated Zombies could no longer ignore the threat. Over a hundred frenzied zombies were already charging the convoy.
Even if the support teams could handle these frenzied zombies, it would likely cause them a great deal of trouble.
Furthermore, the four Mutated Zombies were constantly summoning more High Level Zombies. Upon arrival, these High Level Zombies would be tainted by some kind of venom and enter a frenzied state.
By now, nearly 300 more High Level Zombies had gathered. At their current summoning rate, the next wave of attacking frenzied zombies would number at least 400.
"These Mutated Zombies are a real handful," Yang Jiansheng said, his brow deeply furrowed.
The number of frenzied zombies was growing. If it weren’t for the timely arrival of these Mercenary Corps from the First Division, his outpost, even with its Defense systems fully established, probably wouldn’t have held out for long. After all, you couldn’t fight frenzied zombies with ordinary ammunition.
He glanced at Lin Xinghai beside him. Before, he had thought it would be enough just to drive the Mutated Zombies back. Now, he realized they absolutely had to be killed. Otherwise, even after this zombie horde was over, cleaning up the remaining Zombies would be a nightmare.
"Can you leave now, with things as they are? Or do you need more time to prepare?" Yang Jiansheng asked.
Lin Xinghai was about to say he didn’t, but on second thought, he nodded. "Alright, then I’ll go get Fang Tianhe and the others. Have them send out five Mechas to give me covering fire."
He was doing this because he was still worried about the Blood-colored Beetles.
That was an issue that had to be dealt with carefully. If even one or two Blood-colored Beetles managed to get inside a Mecha and start wrecking the wiring, the machine would eventually be scrapped.
Without a Mecha, even he probably wouldn’t last long in this zombie horde.
That’s why he had to bring Shen Han with him. At a critical moment, Shen Han could use Ice Seal on the Blood-colored Beetles, just like before. Of course, this was just a precaution.
Yang Jiansheng nodded silently. He then used his long-range comms to inform the support team about the plan to raid the four Mutated Zombies, also giving them Lin Xinghai’s communication channel.
"We’re all aware of your combat record," Yang Jiansheng said. "When it comes to killing Mutated Zombies, no one is better than you. You should take command of this raid. They will give you their full cooperation."
"Alright!" Lin Xinghai agreed. Without another word, he immediately went to make his preparations.
’The sooner those Mutated Zombies are dealt with, the better. If they manage to gather a thousand frenzied zombies to assault this outpost, even I will be in trouble.’
While Lin Xinghai went to get ready, Yang Jiansheng had even more to prepare for. The next wave of frenzied zombies would number at least 400. With Lin Xinghai gone, he would have to deal with that problem himself. The mere thought gave him a headache.
It wasn’t that Lin Xinghai hadn’t considered the issue of the frenzied zombies; he just wasn’t overly concerned. If Yang Jiansheng couldn’t even handle a problem like this, he never would have risen to his current position.
After leaving the command room, Lin Xinghai immediately activated his Communication Device and began making arrangements.
’To form a covering fire team with five Mechas, Fang Tianhe and Shen Han are must-haves,’ he thought. ’As for the other three, I’ll have to find them from the other Mercenary Corps. And they have to be people who have unlocked at least Three Genetic Locks.’
Fortunately, while the overall strength of those First Level Mercenary Corps wasn’t impressive, that didn’t mean their leaders were weak.
After all, if a leader didn’t have some serious skills, no one would dare join their Mercenary Corps.
