Knotting His Rejected Breeder
Chapter 176: Voices Rising
RAMON’S POV
"What did you just say?!" Daisy screamed from the phone, her voice so loud it made the speaker crackle.
I shifted in my seat, because her random screams were beginning to mess with my ears. The meeting room felt smaller than usual, the heavy wooden table between us suddenly feeling like a battle line.
"You know you could have just made this easy for everybody by being here, you know?" Liam said to her, and I could almost hug him for speaking on my behalf.
Except I couldn’t, because I was still on the hot seat.
I wasn’t exactly sure how a meeting called to plan a party had turned into an operation asking the alpha of bloodmoon silly questions. The air in the room was thick with tension, the kind that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
"You just told me that bitter wench is pregnant for Ramon. Excuse me for being shocked!" She hissed loudly, her words sharp enough to cut.
"Yeah, your reaction is tame in comparison to mine. I fainted when I heard about it."
"You did what?" I questioned Ivy, my eyes narrowing.
She rolled her eyes and didn’t respond to me. I could see she was still mad at me, her arms crossed tight over her chest, lips pressed into a thin line.
There was nothing I could possibly do at the moment to get her to my side.
"It’s such silly news to hear. Couldn’t you have been more careful, Ramon? And how’s Sonia doing in all of this? Oh, my precious jewel. She must be devastated," Alpha Daisy asked, answered, and stated all in one go, her voice laced with worry.
"She was sleeping when I left the house. I think she’s doing much better than she was yesterday," Ivy replied, eying Ramon with a pointed look.
"Yeah, thanks to Ramon. At least he was able to redeem himself today," he said, and threw him a thumbs up.
Ivy scoffed, and rolled her eyes hard, her fingers tapping impatiently on the table.
"You call sex redeeming himself? As if it’s not the same action that put him in this position with Lorena," she hissed, her words hitting like a slap.
"Wait, what? You’re sleeping with Sonia, whilst Lorena is pregnant for you?" Daisy howled from the phone, her shock clear even through the speaker.
"Wait, why’s everyone suddenly in my business? The last time I checked, I called this meeting for us to plan a party. What is this gang up for?" I asked, definitely feeling oppressed, my jaw clenching as I leaned back in my chair.
"Planning a party for that snake? No thanks, I’ll pass. If I were you, I’d be investigating. I mean how do you even know she’s pregnant for you?" Daisy asked what had been in everyone’s mind, but they had been too afraid to ask.
She had the safety of not being around to shield her from Ramon’s wrath with that kind of damning question.
"What are you implying, Daisy? I’m not man enough to impregnate Lorena?"
"No Ramon. I’m saying that she’s a liar, and filthy scum of the earth. That’s what I’m saying."
"But also indirectly implying that I can’t think for myself? Wouldn’t I know if Lorena was deceiving me?"
I couldn’t believe my ears. I knew they all didn’t like Lorena, but the least they could do was to be careful with their words around me.
"Are you going to add to this conversation?" I turned to both Blane and Daniel.
They had been awfully quiet, even when they could clearly see I needed backup.
Left to the other three, they would successfully gang up against me. But I wasn’t going to let that happen.
"Yes Blane, I want to hear your opinion. And don’t speak as the beta. Speak your honest thoughts," Daisy said to him.
"Why shouldn’t he speak as my beta?" I countered, my voice rising.
"Because it would be a biased response," Ivy said, her tone sharp.
"How would it be a biased response? What you’re doing is also in a way, twisting his mind. Or what do you think, Daniel?"
Daniel stared blankly at me. In meetings like these, he was usually more active than Blane.
I wondered why he was so quiet, because it was highly unlike him.
"I think the alpha can do whatever he likes," Daniel said, and I smiled, relief washing over me for a moment.
"Oh bullshit!" Ivy called. "You’re just saying that to pander. I’d expect it from Blane, but not you," she scoffed, her eyes narrowing at him.
I caught a look pass between Ivy and Blane, but it very swiftly disappeared before I could form a proper thought on that look.
Still, I made a mental note to investigate whatever that was.
"Yeah, you don’t expect him to speak freely with the heat already on his alpha. Hey just trying to keep his head," Liam said.
"By not telling the truth? Well if no one is going to say it, I will. What should be of utmost importance is finding out the truth of Lorena’s pregnancy. Not throwing a party for her," Daisy said.
"I agree." Ivy shrugged, crossing her arms tighter.
"You have some nerve taking her side, for someone who is hiding the fool that tried to hurt Lorena, and in doing so, almost hurt my baby," I said, my voice low and dangerous.
"What’s that about?" Daisy asked, her tone sharpening.
"Don’t listen to Ramon. He’s just pissed he can’t dump his anger at Sonia almost being killed on poor Moon. If we’re being honest about that entire situation, Lorena should be made to answer some questions. For example, how did she know where to find Moon and Sonia?" Ivy said.
I could tell she had been holding that one back. My only wish was that she had discussed it with me in private.
"I think I need to be in bloodmoon. This whole distance bullshit is not cutting it anymore. Since Liam wouldn’t knock some sense into Ramon, I should try my luck."
"Yeah, you’d need all the help you can get. This one is as stubborn as a mule," Liam replied.
"When you’re all done discussing me, we’ll talk about the party. And as you must know, we’re not leaving here until we draw a perfect plan."
"I have drawn out a plan," Blane who had been quiet all along said, and handed a document over to me.
"Don’t egg him on, Blane," Ivy chided him.
"Blane is compromised," Daisy added.
"Don’t you two think you’re being a tad bit dramatic? I mean I don’t even agree with this party, but it’s getting weird," Liam said, finally coming to my defense.
"Took you long enough," I said.
"I’m not going to be a party to whatever this is. As long as it has something to do with Lorena, I’m out."
Before I could stop her, Ivy for the second time in two days, walked out on me.
I was left devastated, but I couldn’t show it. All I knew was I had to talk to her.
We had to settle this sudden animosity I felt from her.
