Landlord in the Arctic
Chapter 225 - 211: Cooperation
They were drinking on the house.
The amber liquid swirled gently in their glasses, exuding a faint, fragrant aroma.
With relaxed smiles, the two men chatted about happenings back home. Amid their lighthearted conversation, the topic shifted to the shooting range.
As for the shooting range, Sun Jia had many ideas, but also felt a sense of helplessness.
He had poured his heart and soul into the range, even selling several of his properties back home just to fund its construction and design in the Crown Territory.
The new range wasn’t just equipped with the most advanced hardware on the market; it also featured unique, custom-built facilities.
Every detail had been meticulously considered, all to provide customers with a top-tier shooting experience.
He had also planned various activities. They could host different types of shooting competitions and set up diverse scenarios to increase the challenge and fun, allowing tourists to experience greater thrills and a sense of accomplishment.
But no matter how well-designed or planned it was, it all ultimately depended on a large supply of firearms.
While Alaska might seem to have lax gun control, that only applied to local residents.
For foreigners, the restrictions were incredibly strict.
His only other option was to go through the black market and buy illegal guns.
If he did that, the FBI would be knocking on his door for a "household check" within three days.
If the range were back home, he would have plenty of connections to make things happen. But in Alaska, the only solution was to turn to the man sitting before him.
After three rounds of drinks.
Sun Jia couldn’t hold it in any longer. He set down his glass. "Brother Feng, the shooting range is finished. When do you think you can sort out the firearms issue?"
"Firearms?" Feng Shan feigned ignorance, a hint of confusion on his face. "They haven’t arrived yet?"
Sun Jia quickly replied, "That’s right. I mentioned it to Yves, and he said he had to wait for you to get back. The tour groups from home will be arriving in a few days. If the firearms aren’t ready, the range will have been built for nothing."
Feng Shan picked up his glass and took a sip of his drink. After a moment of thought, he said, "Sun, don’t worry. I’ll figure something out for the firearms. It might take some time, though. There’s a lot of paperwork and regulations involved, so it’s a bit of a hassle."
’A hassle, my ass.’
’Whether there are guns or not is just a matter of you saying the word.’
’After all this talk, he’s still not willing to lift a finger until he gets what he wants.’
A bitter smile touched the corner of Sun Jia’s mouth. "Brother Feng, let’s consider the shooting range our partnership. I’ll manage it, you just provide the land. I’ll cover the cost of purchasing the firearms. Just like with Su Ziweng’s restaurant, how about you take a 40% stake in the range?"
"How could I accept that!" Feng Shan quickly set down his glass, a strange smile on his face.
’To be honest, I could have set up this shooting range project myself, even without Sun Jia.’
’I could just fence off a piece of land, set up a few targets, and let the tourists blast away with some guns.’
’But getting it running and running it well are two different things.’
’To operate the shooting range successfully, you need professional management and operations.’ 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
’Sun Jia has the experience and ability in this area. His involvement would make the range more professional and orderly.’
’Besides, working together would allow them to share the risks and reduce operating costs.’
’Most foreigners already own guns, so their enthusiasm for shooting ranges isn’t that high. On the other hand, people from back home have a particularly strong interest in firearms.’
’Sun Jia doesn’t have much influence in Alaska, but he has a considerable network back home and can bring over some real gun enthusiasts.’
’These people are more willing to spend money and have greater purchasing power than the tourists in Brother Kai’s groups.’
Feng Shan had seen this market potential, which was why he chose to partner with Sun Jia to make the shooting range a popular tourist and entertainment attraction in the Crown Territory.
This way, he only needed to provide the land to get 40% of the range’s shares—an undeniably profitable deal.
Furthermore, he possessed both an FFL and an SOT license.
With these two licenses, he could legally purchase most of the automatic weapons available on the market through proper channels.
This would not only provide the range with a rich arsenal of firearms, attracting more tourists and shooting enthusiasts, but also ensure the range’s legality and safety.
"A pleasure doing business with you. However, my people must be in charge of firearm management." Feng Shan extended his hand, beaming.
Business was business, but he couldn’t entrust firearm security to Sun Jia.
In this particular field, safety was always paramount. Only by having his own people strictly control the firearms could he be at ease with the range’s operations and the safety of the tourists.
"Of course, no problem. It’s a pleasure!"
Sun Jia extended his hand with a wry smile.
They shook hands, sealing the deal.
Feng Shan immediately pulled out his walkie-talkie and told Yves to come to the bar.
「Five minutes later.」
Yves strode into the tavern and approached Feng Shan. "Khilla."
Feng Shan pointed to the empty seat beside him. "Sit. I called you here to ask about purchasing weapons."
Of course, Yves knew why they needed to buy weapons.
The shooting range south of the camp had been finished for a while; all it needed now were the weapons.
"Khilla, purchasing firearms requires an FFL and an SOT dealer license. Otherwise, you can’t buy fully automatic weapons. As far as I know, those two licenses are very difficult to obtain."
"I have them." Feng Shan nodded, pulling two documents he had prepared earlier from inside his coat. "I have a Type 01 and Type 02 FFL, and a Class 3 SOT."
Yves’s expression was one of surprise as he took the documents and looked them over.
"That’s right. With these documents, you can purchase NFA weapons. What kind of weapons do you need to buy?"
"I’m not too familiar with that myself." Feng Shan turned to Sun Jia and passed the question to him. "What guns are you planning to buy?"
"Fully automatic weapons, of course! The more, the better!" Sun Jia’s face was alight with excitement, deliberately ignoring the minor detail of how Feng Shan had come to possess those licenses. "What kind of guns can we buy?"
Yves thought for a moment.
"We can get fully automatic and semi-automatic weapons. Things like the AK-47, HK54, MP7, M4A1, and AR-15. We can also buy heavy machine guns, as well as antique firearms."
Hearing the names of these guns, Sun Jia’s eyes lit up. He wanted to buy every single one of them.
