Let's Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 1739: Time-Space Merchant (16)
Chuzheng came back after buying breakfast, and Xi Jing was still curled up in bed.
Chuzheng set the breakfast down and went over to pull Xi Jing’s blanket off.
"Time to get up."
Xi Jing mumbled, blushing as he got up.
As he got up, he hesitated, glanced at Chuzheng, and asked in a low voice, "Did I do anything weird last night?"
As soon as he asked, Xi Jing’s head almost dipped into his chest.
"No."
"Really?"
Chuzheng found it strange, she thought for a moment, then seriously asked, "What weird thing do you want to do?" If you say it, I can fulfill it.
Xi Jing quickly shook his head: "No... no, it’s good if I didn’t." After saying this, he scrambled out of bed and dashed to wash up.
After getting ready, Xi Jing came back to eat, and Chuzheng grabbed him: "What should you do now?"
"Eat... breakfast?" Xi Jing answered cautiously.
"Are you sure?"
Xi Jing was not very sure, and his voice was even softer, "Then... what else should I do?"
"I bought the breakfast, right?"
"Mm."
"Shouldn’t you thank me?"
Xi Jing nodded, "Thank you."
Chuzheng leaned in slightly, "Show your gratitude."
"Huh?"
Xi Jing was a bit muddled, after a moment he seemed to realize what she meant, and once again his cheeks flushed deeply.
Chuzheng hooked his waist with her finger, making it clear that she wouldn’t let go unless he complied.
Xi Jing habitually fiddled with the hem of his clothes, kneading it back and forth several times, his heart pounding as if it were trying to jump out of his chest.
In the end, Xi Jing closed his eyes and swiftly kissed Chuzheng on the cheek.
"Is... is that okay now?"
Chuzheng patted Xi Jing’s head, no longer teasing him: "Alright, eat up."
It was really difficult just to get a kiss for a Good Person Card.
Xi Jing sat down with his head lowered and silently started eating breakfast.
Chuzheng bought quite a bit of breakfast, with a variety of options. Almost all of them were things Xi Jing liked to eat these past couple of days.
Chuzheng was determined to nurture the Good Person Card into a White Fatty, because right now it’s too thin.
"I... I’m going to work now." After finishing breakfast, Xi Jing was ready to leave.
Yesterday was his first day at work, so he could go in the afternoon, but from today he needed to officially start in the morning.
"Wait, I’ll take you."
"No... no need, it’s really close." Xi Jing quickly shook his head to refuse: "I’m off."
-
In the following days, Xi Jing continued to make his bed on the floor, but after waking up he would find himself in bed... still holding Chuzheng.
Every day, getting up was a rush for Xi Jing, and his face stayed flushed from wake-up until he left the house.
"I clearly slept on the floor, so why do I wake up on the bed?" Xi Jing gathered a bit of courage to ask Chuzheng this question.
Chuzheng, drinking milk, calmly said: "You climbed up yourself."
"???"
Xi Jing’s face was full of confusion.
"You get up in the night and insist on climbing over here." Chuzheng said righteously, "I can’t just throw you down, can I?"
Where would you find someone as nice as me!
Xi Jing: "..."
Why doesn’t he remember at all?
Could it be an old habit?
After all, the place Chuzheng slept in used to be his...
Chuzheng glanced at him: "Do you have any objections?"
"No... I..." Xi Jing didn’t know what to say, and then hurriedly stood up and moved towards the door: "I’m... I’m off."
"Stop."
Xi Jing’s body froze, standing by the door.
He watched Chuzheng walk over, and the moment she raised her hand, Xi Jing quickly closed his eyes, retreating slightly.
Chuzheng: "..."
What now, did you think I was going to hit you?
Am I that kind of person?!
Chuzheng adjusted Xi Jing’s clothes: "I’ll pick you up tonight."
Realizing he wasn’t getting hit, Xi Jing slowly opened his eyes to meet Chuzheng’s gaze and obediently nodded: "Mm..."
Xi Jing’s work at the dessert shop was going well. With him there, the sales were guaranteed, making the boss particularly fond of him.
This was probably the easiest job Xi Jing had ever had.
However, all the girls who came to watch made Xi Jing a little uncomfortable. He suspected that they might storm in if it weren’t for the counter between them.
"Whew..."
After the last customer left, Xi Jing let out a sigh, his cheeks puffing slightly.
Even though the pay was good, it was still tiring every day.
"Xiao Jing, no more customers?" The boss cheerfully came out from the back.
"Mm." Xi Jing immediately released that breath.
"Everything’s sold out?"
"There’s one chocolate mousse cake left."
The boss glanced into the display: "Then tidy up. If it’s still unsold later, just take it home."
Xi Jing nodded.
Humming a tune, the boss left first, and Xi Jing, along with the other staff, cleaned up outside. Everyone was getting ready to clock out.
Being an honest kid, Xi Jing didn’t leave right away and insisted on staying a little longer.
Of course, the main reason was that it wasn’t closing time yet and Chuzheng wouldn’t come over early.
"Xiao Jing, we’re heading off."
Xi Jing obediently saw them off, and as the store quieted down, he leaned on the counter and sighed softly.
He went over everything once more, ensuring there was nothing missed before standing idly behind the counter.
Ding-a-ling—
The bell at the store’s entrance chimed.
"Welcome..."
The last two words got stuck in his throat as he stared blankly at the person who walked in.
Chuzheng approached the counter, glanced around at the empty store: "Why are you the only one here?"
"Uh..." Xi Jing snapped back to reality: "They all clocked out first."
"You’re working overtime alone?" What kind of boss is that!! How can they let this little guy work overtime alone, what if something dangerous happens!
"No... no, the boss didn’t ask me to work overtime. I... I was waiting for you." As Xi Jing finished, his cheeks flushed slightly.
"Why are you so early today?"
Earlier than usual by over half an hour.
"Just happened to be passing by." Chuzheng said, "Can you clock out now?"
Xi Jing nodded.
"Then let’s go."
Xi Jing quickly came out from behind the counter, ran halfway, then turned back to grab the boxed chocolate cake.
-
On the way back, Chuzheng seemed deep in thought, a bit absent-minded.
Xi Jing glanced at her several times without getting any reaction.
Pressing his lips together, Xi Jing cautiously reached out and hooked one of his fingers around Chuzheng’s little finger.
Chuzheng turned to look at him, and Xi Jing quickly pulled his hand back in surprise.
Chuzheng swiftly held onto him: "You don’t have to be this cautious if you want to hold my hand. I don’t mind."
Instantly, Xi Jing’s ears turned red hot, and he mumbled an acknowledgment, lowering his head to look at the ground: "What were you thinking just now?"
Chuzheng: "..."
Chuzheng was thinking that her time was running out.
It was tough.
These past couple of days, she discovered that both Wei Yi and she could enter that Space, but when Wei Yi was inside, she couldn’t enter, and vice versa.
The most important point...
It seemed that only Wei Yi received the mission notifications.
It’s like an exam where Wei Yi knows the venue, but she doesn’t, and she can only find the venue through Wei Yi, and in the end, who does well depends on their own abilities.
Being a poor, helpless little creature is really hard.
