Let's Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 1742: Time-Space Merchant (19)
Peng Wenchao chased after Chuzheng: "What you just said is true."
"What do I gain by lying to you?"
Peng Wenchao’s mind was in chaos, not knowing whom to believe.
"How do you prove what you said is true?"
"Mr. Peng, I have no need to prove it’s true to you. Believe it or not, it doesn’t matter to me."
After Chuzheng said that, she walked away, as if she really didn’t care whether he believed her or not.
Peng Wenchao: "..."
Peng Wenchao stood there, nervously took out his phone, and dialed the number stored in his phone.
But there was only a cold message in the phone — the number you dialed is not in service.
No matter how many times he dialed, he got the same message.
Peng Wenchao looked towards Chuzheng, who was already reversing and preparing to leave.
Peng Wenchao shoved his phone into his pocket and hurriedly ran over to stop her.
"Do you have any way to help me?"
The girl in the car casually uttered a word: "Yes."
Peng Wenchao: "..."
-
Peng Wenchao sat in the car, nervously asking Chuzheng the same question over and over: "I’ve already reached an agreement with him. Will my time still be there?"
"If the transaction is not completed, he cannot take your time."
Peng Wenchao managed to stay quiet for a while after hearing this and then continued asking.
Chuzheng couldn’t stand it anymore: "Are you done? If you keep babbling, get out."
Peng Wenchao: "..."
Chuzheng dropped Peng Wenchao off not far from his company, told him what he needed to bring for the exchange, and then urged him to bring it to her quickly.
Peng Wenchao left with hesitation and a heavy heart, his mind filled with thoughts of how he wouldn’t live another ten years...
He would be dead in ten years... no, maybe not ten years.
Peng Wenchao muddled back to the company, and as soon as he entered, he saw his assistant rushing over: "Director Peng, we just got the latest news, they won’t terminate the contract with us."
"Ah?"
Peng Wenchao’s mind was in chaos, not understanding what the assistant was saying.
After a while, he reacted: "Really?"
"Really." The assistant was all excited: "They just called to say so, don’t know why they suddenly changed their mind."
Peng Wenchao became faintly excited: "That’s great..."
His company was saved.
Does this mean it really works?
"I need you to do something for me." Peng Wenchao grabbed the assistant and seriously instructed: "You must personally handle it, let no one know."
The assistant got nervous by Peng Wenchao: "Director Peng, what is it?"
Peng Wenchao asked the assistant to come closer and whispered a few words to him.
-
Outside the company, Chuzheng sat in the car, looking through a pair of binoculars in that direction.
The phone was connected, and a voice came from the other side: "Miss Chuzheng, we’ve arranged everything as you said."
"Mm."
Chuzheng hung up the phone, thoughtfully touching her chin.
She wasn’t sure if this task would count for her in the end.
Now both she and Wei Yi were involved in this transaction, and whether it succeeded in the end depended on the Time-Space Exchange’s decision.
If it didn’t count, she would just have to quietly wait for death... no, rewind.
Now just waiting for Peng Wenchao to hand over the item, and then see how it is decided.
The original host’s broken system is different from the King’s Account, it can’t communicate, only showing tasks and results coldly.
Chuzheng planned to stick with Peng Wenchao throughout, to avoid Wei Yi swooping in to snatch the deal.
Chuzheng touched her chest area, the red scarf on her chest looked even brighter!
-
Peng Wenchao stayed in the company all the time, with so much going on, he didn’t even have time to rest.
Chuzheng waited down below boredom, sending a message to her little guy at home, telling him to go back by himself that night.
The little guy responded immediately.
[Xi Jing: Do you have something very important?]
[Chuzheng: Yes.]
[Xi Jing: Oh]
Chuzheng seemed to see disappointment in that one word, and imagining the little guy’s pitiful appearance made her want to pick him up...
Serious business is important!
If something went wrong, it would be her who’s done for here.
[Xi Jing: When will you be back?]
[Chuzheng: Later, no need to wait for me, just close the door.]
[Xi Jing: Mm, I’ll wait for you.]
[Xi Jing: I’ll tidy up first, getting off work soon.]
[Chuzheng: Mm.]
Xi Jing probably finished work, directly called Chuzheng.
"I’m heading home now."
Chuzheng could hear Xi Jing walking, occasionally someone passed by, and Xi Jing spoke quietly to her, his voice sounding a bit pitiful over the phone.
Chuzheng patiently didn’t hang up, listening to him babbling about work trivialities.
Xi Jing suddenly asked: "Does listening to me talk about this annoy you?"
Chuzheng nodded furiously in the car.
If it weren’t for the fact that you’re a Good Person Card, I would have hung up already.
"No." Chuzheng lied effortlessly: "You talk, I’ll listen."
"I won’t annoy you?"
"..." Oh dear ancestor, how would I dare to be annoyed with you! "No, you won’t."
Xi Jing seemed to be happier: "Can I make you breakfast tomorrow?"
"You’re not going to work?"
"Mm, the boss gave me a day off." Xi Jing said obediently: "Can I?"
"Sure."
Xi Jing’s voice became more cheerful: "Then what do you like to eat?"
"Can you make everything?"
"..."
Chuzheng hit the nail on the head, leaving Xi Jing speechless.
Xi Jing could only cook a few dishes, couldn’t possibly make everything.
"Then... what do you want to eat, I’ll learn, I learn quickly." Xi Jing promised Chuzheng: "I won’t let you down."
"Make whatever you want, I like everything." Chuzheng paused: "As long as you make it." Can’t afford not to like what the Good Person Card makes.
Xi Jing suddenly went quiet, no sound for a long time.
"Xi Jing?"
"Xi Jing!"
Chuzheng sat up straight, suspecting something might have happened to Xi Jing, when his voice came again, mumbling: "Um... sorry, I was just thinking about what to make for you."
"Don’t suddenly go silent." Scared someone to death!
Worrying every day you’d bump into something, even a mother couldn’t be more concerned than me.
"Mm... got it."
Chuzheng heard the sound of going upstairs, guessing he was almost home.
"Hiss..."
A sharp inhalation sound suddenly came from the other end of the phone.
Chuzheng’s brow twitched: "What happened?"
"Nothing... slipped." Xi Jing quickly replied: "I’m home."
"Are you hurt?"
"No." Xi Jing’s voice was normal, there was the sound of a door opening over there, followed by a door closing.
Chuzheng asked him: "Do you want to hang up now?"
Xi Jing hesitated: "I don’t want to."
"Then keep it on, do your thing."
"Mm."
Whatever Xi Jing was doing over there, he reported it to Chuzheng, who found her Bluetooth earphones and put them on, occasionally responding back.
