Chapter 1747: Chapter 1747: Time-Space Merchant (24)

Xi Jing has become more handsome after being taken care of by Chuzheng, attracting more girls to the sweetshop to see him.

The boss is quite business-savvy, limiting the daily supply of a few types of desserts, each tagged with Xi Jing’s name, which boosted business further.

The boss probably fears that Xi Jing might become overwhelmed and quit, so his demands were not high.

Some employees were unconvinced, but when the boss said, ’If you can attract so many girls to come and buy things, I’ll treat you the same,’ all they felt was jealousy.

So good-looking, why sell desserts? Enter the entertainment industry!

Though the boss gave special treatment to Xi Jing, he didn’t slack off, so despite some employees’ jealousy, they couldn’t bring themselves to hate him.

It was Xi Jing’s turn on shift; employees left one after another, and the shop quieted down.

The doorbell chimed, and Xi Jing looked up from behind the counter: "Welcome..."

Three people stood at the door, led by a somewhat frail man, followed by two burly men who stood there like two small mountains.

The frail man met Xi Jing’s gaze and smirked maliciously: "Really here."

Xi Jing’s face turned slightly pale: "Last month, I already paid you back..."

The frail man clicked his tongue: "Kid, the money you paid back isn’t enough, just the interest. When do you plan to pay the rest?"

"I don’t have any money..."

His entire salary, except for what he kept, was used to repay the money.

The past two months, these people hadn’t come looking, and with his life going well recently, he sometimes forgot about it altogether.

Seeing them now, Xi Jing suddenly felt like he was back in hell.

The frail man reached back, and one of the men handed him a contract: "Kid, it’s written here in black and white, you have to pay up in full this month."

Xi Jing was stunned: "Wasn’t it supposed to be paid monthly?"

That was never mentioned before...

"The contract is here, do you want to look?" The frail man waved the contract: "We abide by the contract, don’t worry, there’s no funny business."

Xi Jing grabbed the contract, flipping through and pointing at a page: "This wasn’t here at the time?"

He didn’t sign this page at all.

The frail man sneered, pointing at the signature below: "Isn’t that your handwriting? Want to get a handwriting test done?"

Xi Jing recognized his own handwriting.

However...

"Hurry up, no nonsense, pay up." The frail man slammed a palm on the counter, his expression fierce.

Xi Jing was so angry that his chest heaved continuously, his face flushed red from anger or fear.

Ding-dong...

The doorbell chimed again.

A man in a black trench coat walked in, ignoring the crowd, proceeded right to the counter, smiling: "Any more food?"

"There’s still one cake and a loaf of bread left," Xi Jing replied instinctively.

The trench coat man glanced at the lonely items, tapping his finger on the bread: "This one, how much?"

"Ten bucks."

Trench coat man scanned to pay, took the bread, but didn’t leave.

The frail man intended to wait for him to leave, but he leaned beside them, starting to eat.

"We have private matters to settle here. Eat outside," the frail man rudely urged him out.

The trench coat man raised an eyebrow: "The shop doesn’t ban eating inside, are you the owner?"

The frail man squinted, signaling to the two men behind him.

The two burly men immediately surrounded him.

The trench coat man appeared not to notice, smiling mockingly at the frail man.

The man behind reached for the trench coat man’s collar, but before the hand touched, a crisp sound filled the quiet shop; no one saw how the trench coat man moved, but when they heard it, the man who made a move was already on the ground.

The trench coat man stomped on the man’s wrist.

-

A white car raced down the street, screeching to a halt in front of the sweetshop, and before it stopped, the door was pushed open.

Chuzheng rushed into the sweetshop, seeing Xi Jing alone tidying up the mess. At the sound, he turned around.

Seeing Chuzheng, his eyes instantly reddened, tears blurring his vision.

Chuzheng moved over and hugged him.

Xi Jing buried his face in her hair, holding her tightly.

Chuzheng said nothing, quietly hugging him for a while, then asked him to sit aside while she cleaned up the broken things.

She brought Xi Jing a cup of hot water. Once he’d calmed a bit, she pulled out her phone, opening a photo: "Has this person been here?"

Xi Jing glanced at the photo, nodded: "He helped me..."

"Helped you?" Chuzheng was surprised: "Helped you with what?"

Xi Jing pressed his lips, turning the cup in his hands, finally making up his mind.

"I... I owe some money, and those people came to collect. That man helped chase them away."

What?

Wei Yi, that dog, would do such a thing?

Chuzheng couldn’t believe he’d be so kind... behaving well without ulterior motives surely had a purpose.

"That person’s not good. Next time you see him, don’t talk to him. No matter what he says, don’t believe it."

"But he helped me." Xi Jing was puzzled, the man seemed nice...

Chuzheng’s face hardened: "You don’t believe me?"

Xi Jing blinked, slowly nodded: "Yes, I’ll remember. I won’t talk to him or believe what he says."

Chuzheng hugged him: "Good boy, let’s head home."

Xi Jing tried to get up, but Chuzheng lifted him directly, his expression slightly embarrassed, while Chuzheng whispered in his ear: "You’ve grown taller recently."

Holding him isn’t as comfy as before...

Growing taller isn’t so good!

"Oh... really?"

"Yes."

Previously, Xi Jing was undernourished, now he’s fed well by Chuzheng every day; it’s no surprise he’s grown taller.

He hadn’t really noticed. Hesitantly, he asked: "You don’t like...me growing taller?"

Of course not, you growing taller, how can I easily hold you anytime!

But it doesn’t matter what she likes; the key is to nurture the Good Person Card well.

Where can you find a good person like me? You’d better treasure it!

"If you don’t like it, I won’t grow..." Xi Jing said softly.

"You think you’re a remote control?" Growing, not growing at will!

She paused for a moment: "I don’t dislike it, it’s all good."

Xi Jing hugged Chuzheng’s neck, his soft hair brushing against Chuzheng’s neck, tickling her, his soft voice sounding: "Really?"

Chuzheng inhaled slightly: "Yes, don’t move recklessly."

It’s distressing.

Chuzheng carried Xi Jing out, placed him in the front passenger seat, carefully buckled his seatbelt, then locked the store door with the key.

Xi Jing leaned against the car window, watching Chuzheng.

Chuzheng turned and met Xi Jing’s gaze, the little guy hesitated, then obediently grinned.
