Chuzheng received a call from Gao Teng on her way back, there was only a short cry for help, then just the sound of dial tones.

Chuzheng: "..."

Chuzheng tried to call back, but the phone was already unreachable.

It was more than an hour later when Chuzheng found out Gao Teng’s location and rushed over.

By now the night was deep, there were only a few people on the road, and Chuzheng could see the red and blue lights flashing not far ahead.

She walked over, Gao Teng was surrounded by people, speaking. Gao Teng looked pale, seemingly quite terrified.

Gao Teng saw Chuzheng, politely declined the offer to be escorted home, and ran over to Chuzheng.

That’s when the person behind him rushed up, choking him, the phone fell and went blank.

If it weren’t for a passerby, who noticed and scared him away, he would probably be dead now.

"I almost died." Gao Teng held his still red neck, utterly frightened.

"Did you see the person’s face?"

Gao Teng shook his head: "It was too dark, when he attacked me from behind, I couldn’t see anything."

Who would attack Gao Teng?

Chuzheng had some suspicions about Wei Yi, the fugitive, he obtained time differently than regular time-space merchants.

Maybe... killing the target, he could gain time?

"Wei Yi, probably."

Xi Jing was very familiar with this name.

"Why kill him, what benefit is it to Wei Yi?"

"I don’t know, just guessing." Gao Teng doesn’t have any enemies seeking revenge, if he wasn’t unlucky enough to encounter a random psychopath, then Wei Yi is the prime suspect.

Gao Teng sent a photo for Chuzheng to see.
