Let's Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 1780: Storm over Fengmanlou (Part 17)
Liu Quchen thought it would take some time, but unexpectedly, the woman brought back news by night.
"The Tower Master of Fengman Building brought back a young master two days ago, similar to the Second Young Master of Man Mansion."
"Fengman Building?" Liu Quchen muttered: "Are you sure?"
The woman hesitated: "Not very sure."
Fengman Building has been acting high-profile recently, and also spending lavishly...
Liu Quchen said: "Send a message over, saying I’ll visit tomorrow."
"Manor Owner, is it necessary to visit in person?" The woman was surprised.
Even if there are suspicions, it would be enough to summon the Tower Master of Fengman Building for questioning; there’s no need to visit personally.
"Go on." Liu Quchen didn’t say much, waving the woman off.
"...Yes."
-
The news that the Manor Owner of Shenwu Manor would visit had everyone at Fengman Building startled, but thinking of the recent rumors, they seemed to understand something.
Chuzheng didn’t hide when she brought Young Master Man Yue back; Shenwu Manor wouldn’t sit idly by regarding the massacre at Man Mansion.
However, the Manor Owner visiting personally made everyone at Fengman Building feel honored and surprised.
That was the Manor Owner of Shenwu Manor.
Many heroes and knights longed to meet him but never had the chance.
Shenwu Manor’s status is naturally linked to its strength.
Now the Manor Owner, Liu Quchen, has reached the peak of martial arts, with few in the martial world able to rival him besides the elderly seniors.
In contrast to the excitement and tension of the Tower members, Chuzheng appeared much calmer.
She didn’t even know who this person was, so what was there to get excited about?
So the next day, when Liu Quchen entered, Chuzheng had a straight face.
"Miss Fong, I apologize for the sudden visit." Liu Quchen was polite and gentle, exuding more of a scholarly and elegant presence rather than that of a martial arts practitioner.
Chuzheng casually assessed him, raising a hand: "Master Liu, please sit." You know you’re disturbing and still came!
As for the beautiful woman beside Liu Quchen, she thought Chuzheng’s attitude seemed a bit arrogant.
Their Manor Owner personally visited, yet the Tower Master of Fengman Building responded with such an attitude.
However, since the Manor Owner said nothing, she held her tongue, though she was inwardly dissatisfied.
-
While Chuzheng assessed Liu Quchen, he was also sizing her up.
Most people who met him were either reverent and terrified, and those who weren’t were still quite respectful.
This young woman seeing him didn’t seem reverent or terrified, almost as if he were just an ordinary stranger.
Interesting...
Liu Quchen: "What made Miss Fong decide to move Fengman Building to Linjiang City?"
"Is this what Master Liu came to ask me?"
Liu Quchen was startled, then smiled: "Not really, just curious. Can’t Miss Fong talk about it?"
Liu Quchen did not put on the airs of the Manor Owner of Shenwu Manor, instead speaking as if chatting with an old friend.
"I like it here." It’s easier to squander money here.
Liu Quchen: "Linjiang City is indeed nice, just too bustling."
Shenwu Manor isn’t in Linjiang City but on a mountain outside the city.
With a manor named after a mountain, how could it live up to its prestige if not on a mountain?
"Master Liu, if you have something to discuss, just say it. Don’t waste everyone’s time." She’s busy! Who has time to listen to your idle chat?
The woman behind Liu Quchen couldn’t hold back: "How can you be so rude?"
Chuzheng glanced at her, replying indifferently: "If you were polite, you wouldn’t have spoken out now."
Though Chuzheng’s inner complaints were lively, what she said wasn’t too offensive and could even be considered polite.
It was just her expressionless face that gave people an unfavorable impression.
The woman’s eyes widened in anger, and she was about to speak when Liu Quchen raised a hand to stop her.
"Manor Owner!"
The woman spoke up to support the Manor Owner, feeling this young girl’s attitude was inappropriate!
"Alright, you go out first."
"..."
The woman, usually favored, left with a grievance, letting out a dissatisfied snort as she exited.
"Cun Xin has grown a bit spoiled due to my indulgence, and lacks understanding of proper conduct; I hope Miss Fong can forgive her."
Chuzheng didn’t intend to argue with a stranger, merely saying: "If Master Liu has something to say, speak directly, and don’t waste our time."
Liu Quchen glanced at Chuzheng, perhaps realizing her impatience.
What she said initially seemed to mean no more than urging him to get to the point.
Liu Quchen: "I indeed came to discuss something. I heard recently Miss Fong brought back a young master, may I see him?"
"Why should you?"
"..."
Liu Quchen was momentarily at a loss for words from Chuzheng’s response.
Fortunately, he quickly regained his composure: "Miss Fong must have heard of recent events in the martial world. That young master might be the Second Young Master of Man Mansion, so I wish to confirm."
"He is."
"..."
That answer was too quick!
Liu Quchen found it hard to keep up with Chuzheng’s pace, and after a few moments, sincerely asked: "Miss Fong, may I meet him? I wish to ask about the events in detail, to catch the culprit and avenge Man Mansion."
Chuzheng glanced at him, tapping the back of her chair with her fingertips: "He won’t say anything."
She had tried asking before, but Man Yue wouldn’t utter a single word.
He also displayed no extra expressions, as if he’d completely forgotten that day’s events.
Liu Quchen: "I’d still like to meet the Second Young Master..."
Chuzheng remained silent for a moment: "Come with me."
-
Chuzheng led Liu Quchen to the room, where a young man sat on the windowsill, one foot propped up and the other dangling, swinging idly.
Hearing the door open, he glanced over, and seeing it was Chuzheng, he showed no interest.
But as he was about to look away, from the corner of his eye he noticed someone behind her, and his body tensed, then he jumped down from the windowsill.
"Man Yue..."
Chuzheng had just called his name when Man Yue suddenly attacked, grabbing a nearby vase and throwing it.
His target wasn’t Chuzheng, but the person behind her, so the vase flew past her.
Liu Quchen easily caught the vase, but before he could speak, more things were thrown.
"Get out." Chuzheng pushed Liu Quchen out the door.
Liu Quchen stood there holding the vase, blankly looking at the closed door.
-
Inside the room, Chuzheng pointed at the porcelain bottle in Man Yue’s hand: "Put it down."
Man Yue seemed very angry, gripping the porcelain bottle tightly, and only after a while did he put it down.
Chuzheng walked over and carried him back to bed: "I told you not to get out of bed, why did you come down?"
Man Yue ignored her, turning his head to the other side, his anger brewing.
Chuzheng: "..."
"This time it’s my fault." Chuzheng suddenly said: "Don’t be angry."
Man Yue turned his head back, his clear eyes staring at her intently, opening his mouth after a long while, but no sound came out.
"He has some questions to ask you, don’t get angry later."
