Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart
Chapter 2679 - 2688: Too Precious to Drink
"Sister Sunny, I have something urgent here. I’ll call you back later."
"What could be more urgent than what I’m telling you right now? You silly girl, make up your mind quickly!" Sunny snapped angrily.
With every passing second now, the ants on her heart seemed to circle another round on her chest, driving her to distraction.
Holding the phone, she really didn’t know how to tell Sunny that someone was waiting outside her door. She could only say hurriedly, "Sister Sunny, I’ll call you back in a bit, it’s like this."
"If you dare hang up on me, you’re dead!" Sunny was infuriated by her. At such a time, she still acted so nonchalant.
"I might just be dead now. Sister Sunny, it’s really not working out. Hold on for me, I’m hanging up first."
"Hey, hey..."
Olivia Lewis steeled herself, hung up the phone, muted it, and tossed it onto the bed. After hesitating for a moment, she adjusted her pajamas and walked out of the bedroom.
She crossed the living room and walked to the entrance hall. Looking through the door’s intercom, she indeed saw someone standing at the door.
Who else could it be but August Oliver, who had called her earlier?
He looked as if he had just left work, still wearing a shirt, and unusually holding a cigarette, a dejected expression she had never seen before.
Previously, Annan had mentioned that August Oliver didn’t smoke and rarely drank because both could easily irritate his throat. He was very fond of music and cherished his voice. He even avoided spicy food.
But now...
Olivia Lewis glanced at the cigarette butts scattered on the floor, unsure what to say.
She took a deep breath and opened the door—
Perhaps hearing the movement at the door, the man with his head down smoking lifted his head. His handsome face, caught between boy and man, had become more mature over the past months’ endless events. The only constant was probably those dark eyes, more compelling than the starry sky.
Olivia Lewis opened the door, glanced at him, didn’t mention the smoking, and calmly said, "Come in first."
After saying that, she turned back and walked away...
The person at the door hesitated for a few seconds, discarded the cigarette from between his fingers, crushed it with his shoe, and followed her into the living room.
Olivia Lewis busied herself in the kitchen for a while, then brought a cup to him, handing him the water, "Here, have a sip of water first."
August Oliver’s handsome face was complex. He paused for a second and took the cup she handed over. Silently lowering his head, he took a sip. When the honeyed sweetness hit his lips, his expression faltered, and he looked up, giving Olivia Lewis a deep look. As if reluctant to finish the water, he sipped it sparingly, holding the cup, and in a hoarse voice said, "Have you seen the news online?"
"Just saw it." Seeing that he wasn’t drinking anymore and didn’t return the cup, Olivia Lewis felt awkward to ask for it back and decided to let it go. "Did you come here because of that?"
"Yeah." August Oliver held the cup in one hand, frowned, and earnestly said, "How do you want to handle it? Leave it to the public relations department over there, or should I help you?"
Olivia Lewis hadn’t expected him to come for this matter. By rights, as Celestial Entertainment’s executive president, August Oliver shouldn’t have to handle such trivialities personally. He could just have others handle it. Yet he came directly to her door, and it was hard to believe it was purely from a business standpoint.
