Live-in Son-in-law
Chapter 1506: Falling into the Abyss
"Let go of me."
Qin Yi struggled to pull the Flood Dragon Spear back, but Tian Xie clung to it with all his might, refusing to let go.
Tian Xie’s face was covered in blood, with bruises and swelling, and he sneered:
"I let go so you can take my life?"
Qin Yi: "..."
"Let go, and I swear I won’t stab you."
Tian Xie winced in pain and said disdainfully:
"Qin Yi, do you think I would believe you?"
"Damn it, you’re not letting go, huh? Let’s see if you can hold on? Blood Flood Dragon, show your true form and eat him."
Qin Yi ordered.
Tian Xie’s face turned pale with fright.
"Master, it’s impossible. This chain can’t bear my weight. If I reveal my true form, all three of us will fall."
Qin Yi was speechless.
Tian Xie let out a sigh of relief.
"Damn it, let go."
The two entered a tug-of-war.
Qin Yi wanted to pull back the Big Halberd; if given another chance, he could kill Tian Xie.
Of course, Tian Xie understood this reasoning too, so he exerted all his strength to prevent Qin Yi from retrieving the Big Halberd.
"Qin Yi, Tian Xie, if you two keep this standoff, we might all die here. How about we talk this out?"
The Evil Lord spoke up.
Qin Yi nodded, "Of course, let Tian Xie let go first, and we can have a proper talk."
"You think I’m an idiot? If I let go, I won’t survive."
Qin Yi scoffed, "Be confident, don’t say you’re not. Do you think you’re clever?"
They remained deadlocked.
Tian Xie letting go meant death; he absolutely wouldn’t let go.
The Evil Lord said, "How about both of you let go together."
The Blood Flood Dragon was immediately displeased, cursing, "Old thing, you’re really insidious. If my master and this brat let go together, I’d be the one to die."
"Dare you insult my master?" Tian Xie roared with anger.
The Blood Flood Dragon sneered, "Little punk, if we were on solid ground, I would eat you right now."
The Evil Lord said, "You both are stuck, letting go together is the best outcome."
"Qin Yi, it’s just a weapon. If you agree, I can give you mine."
The Blood Flood Dragon was furious, "Old thing, shut your damn mouth."
Qin Yi sneered, "Old ghost, don’t waste your efforts. I won’t give up the Blood Flood Dragon; I’m not interested in your weapon."
He looked at Tian Xie, sneering, "Let’s see who can hold out till the end."
Qin Yi struggled desperately to pull back the Flood Dragon Spear.
Tian Xie clung on with all his might, refusing to let go.
The two glared at each other like fighting cocks, neither willing to yield.
"You’ve been stabbed so much by the Blood Flood Dragon that you’re practically ruined. Have you fallen in love with this feeling? Is that why you’re holding on?"
"If you’ve fallen for it, you should let go so I can give you more."
Qin Yi grinned maliciously, his words filled with raw malice.
Tian Xie’s face turned blue, "Qin Yi, provoking me does you no good. I suggest you accept my master’s proposal, and we let go together."
"Fine, let’s both let go. I’ll count to three."
"One."
"Two."
"Three."
In the end, both held on tightly.
Qin Yi scoffed, "Didn’t we agree to let go together? You’re such a bastard, trying to trick me."
"Didn’t you not let go either?" Tian Xie sneered.
The two resumed their tug, pulling with all their strength.
Ten minutes passed.
Soon, half an hour passed.
Their expressions gradually became pained.
Their legs intertwined around the chain, each holding onto it, hanging upside down from it.
The prolonged standoff made their bodies numb.
Qin Yi felt his arms and legs starting to cramp and believed Tian Xie felt the same.
But both knew the Flood Dragon Spear must not fall into the other’s hands.
In this situation, whoever gets the Flood Dragon Spear wins.
An hour passed.
Qin Yi felt he could hardly hold on, his entire body weight hanging from an arm and a leg, dangling upside down, almost getting a blood rush to his brain.
Tian Xie’s situation was worse than Qin Yi’s; his body strength was inferior, suffering more in their assault with the Earth Spirit Stones.
Plus, Qin Yi had jabbed the Big Halberd into his buttocks, turning it into a bleeding mess that soaked his pants; cold sweat dripped from his forehead, his body trembled, barely holding on.
"If you can’t hold on, just let go."
Qin Yi said through gritted teeth, his grimacing face expressing his discomfort.
Sweat beaded on Tian Xie’s forehead like peas, his entire being trembling, voice quivering:
"Isn’t it you who can’t hold on? If you’re done, just let go."
"Fine, pretend I didn’t say anything. Let’s keep this up and see who gives in first. When it comes to endurance, I can outlast your ancestors eighteen generations."
They both fell silent, conserving energy.
Another half an hour passed.
Qin Yi felt his whole body seized up, fingers trembling, barely able to hold the Flood Dragon Spear.
Glancing at Tian Xie, he squinted slightly, knowing that if he was barely holding on, Tian Xie was faring worse.
Now’s the moment... Qin Yi suddenly yanked the Flood Dragon Spear.
But instead of pulling the Flood Dragon Spear from Tian Xie’s grasp, he pulled his hand off the chain.
Tian Xie screamed as his hand was pulled off, and his legs, already stiff, released, sending him plummeting toward the abyss below.
"Damn it, let go."
Qin Yi roared in anger; at this moment, that rascal Tian Xie still clung tightly to the Flood Dragon Spear.
Actually, it wasn’t that Tian Xie refused to let go; his fingers were frozen, making it hard to release.
Qin Yi was also at his limit and got pulled down by Tian Xie’s force, falling along.
"Qin Yi, you madman."
The Evil Lord bellowed in anger.
"Old thing, are you scared? Haha... we die together."
Qin Yi laughed maniacally; no one knew what lay at the abyss’s bottom. Falling that far meant life or death was a gamble.
But at this point, it didn’t matter anymore; Qin Yi cast all caution to the wind.
"Master, what do we do?" Tian Xie screamed; he didn’t want to die.
"How should I know?"
The Evil Lord growled, "I’m just a soul, what can I do?"
"Old ghost, Tian Xie, let’s die together then."
Qin Yi shouted.
He and Tian Xie were still connected by the Flood Dragon Spear.
Qin Yi yanked the Flood Dragon Spear hard, landing directly on top of Tian Xie.
Tian Xie suddenly realized, Qin Yi intended to use him as a cushion.
"Get off me."
Qin Yi couldn’t let go; using Tian Xie as a human cushion was his only chance of survival.
Tian Xie screamed in terror, suddenly flipping so Qin Yi was the one pinned beneath.
Qin Yi was furious, hell no, he wasn’t going to be Tian Xie’s cushion.
He flipped abruptly, pinning Tian Xie beneath once more.
Both wanted the other as a cushion, spinning mid-air as they plummeted rapidly.
...
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Minutes later, a muffled thud echoed from the abyss.
Then, everything fell silent.
