Live-in Son-in-law
Chapter 1522: He’s a Dragon
"Where’s that bastard Qin Yi? Why isn’t he back yet?"
In a courtyard somewhere in the Netherworld Hall, Yun Mengyao and Yin Qianqian were lazily lounging in rocking chairs.
Hearing Yun Mengyao’s complaint, Yin Qianqian turned her head to glance at her, "What, you miss him?"
"Tch, who misses him? I’m just afraid he might die out there."
"The news has spread these past few days; this guy destroyed seven branches of the Sword Sect in a row. I bet he’s being chased by the Sword Sect people right now."
"You say he left mysteriously without us, only to cause trouble for the Sword Sect. Was that something to hide from us? Wouldn’t we support him?"
Whenever Qin Yi was mentioned, Yun Mengyao would go on and on, full of complaints.
"What could you do if you went with him? Be a burden?"
Yin Qianqian’s words were a jab, leaving Yun Mengyao rolling her eyes.
"I’m really strong now. I wouldn’t be a burden at all, okay?"
Yin Qianqian scoffed, "Do you even believe that? That skeletal arm did boost your fighting power, but you’re still just a weakling."
"Young lady, train well. Not every time will you have such good fortune waiting for you."
Yun Mengyao protested, "How do you know I’m not training properly?"
"Qin Yi’s been gone for over a month, right? I observed that you’ve trained less than five times."
"These days, all you do is eat and sleep. Haven’t you noticed you’ve put on weight since Qin Yi left?"
Yun Mengyao’s pretty face changed, and she hurriedly touched her own face, realizing she had indeed gained some weight.
But she wouldn’t admit it, "You’re talking nonsense. I just haven’t trained during the day; I usually train at night."
Yin Qianqian lazily said, "If I hadn’t heard your snoring, I might have believed you."
"Nonsense, I never snore when I sleep."
"Didn’t you say you train every night?"
Yun Mengyao: "..."
Sure enough, ginger gets spicier as it ages.
"That guy Qin Yi actually went off alone to the Southern Middle State, really courting death."
"Oh yeah, have you heard? It’s said that the gravity of the Purgatory Trace suddenly disappeared."
Yin Qianqian nodded, "That’s none of our business. I’m going to take a beauty sleep, don’t disturb me."
Yun Mengyao pouted, her hands under her head, and slowly closed her eyes.
This life is really comfortable.
"Who’s there?"
Yin Qianqian suddenly opened her eyes, shouting sharply, almost scaring Yun Mengyao off the lounge chair.
"The elder is still so alert."
A familiar voice rang out, making Yin Qianqian and Yun Mengyao pause in surprise.
The two of them turned their heads abruptly to see Qin Yi entering slowly from the doorway, with someone following behind him.
Yun Mengyao jumped up, full of excitement, but maintained her composure and said with a stern face:
"You still know how to come back, huh? Did you have fun out there playing by yourself?"
Qin Yi smiled, "Not bad."
Yun Mengyao glared at him, then looked at Lang Ya, "And who might this be?"
"Let me introduce you, this is my little brother, Lang Ya."
Lang Ya stared blankly at Qin Yi; when did he become the little brother?
"Little wolf, let me introduce you. This wild one is Yun Mengyao, and the charming one is Yin Qianqian."
"Who’s wild?!" Yun Mengyao was displeased with Qin Yi’s introduction.
Yin Qianqian, however, was quite satisfied with Qin Yi’s introduction.
However, Yin Qianqian stared at Lang Ya for a moment, her gaze flickering with caution.
As a Demon Beast, her innate intuition sensed something extraordinary about Lang Ya.
"Hello to both of you, I’m not Qin Yi’s little brother. Whether in cultivation or age, I’m his elder."
Lang Ya coolly said.
Yun Mengyao was surprised, "You’re saying your cultivation is stronger than Qin Yi’s?"
Lang Ya nodded seriously.
Yun Mengyao looked at Qin Yi, "Is that true?"
Qin Yi rubbed his nose, "He’s injured; right now he can barely match me."
Yun Mengyao widened her eyes in shock, "Injured and still a match for you? If he were fully healed, wouldn’t he be stronger than you?"
Qin Yi awkwardly said, "Haven’t compared, so I don’t know."
"No need to compare, you’re not my opponent."
Lang Ya said earnestly.
Qin Yi: "..."
Damn, doesn’t this blockhead know when to give me an out?
"Whoa, impressive." Yun Mengyao scrutinized Lang Ya and then turned to Qin Yi, "Where’d you swindle this guy from?"
"What do you mean?" Qin Yi was dissatisfied with this wording, earnestly saying, "He’s been charmed by my personality. He begged to follow me, so I reluctantly agreed."
"Shut up."
Lang Ya barely opened his mouth before Qin Yi retorted, knowing he was about to dismantle his story.
Yun Mengyao looked at Qin Yi with disdain, not buying his story at all. Such a powerful figure, if not for Qin Yi’s glib tongue, wouldn’t have followed him?
Yin Qianqian suddenly stepped forward, pulling Qin Yi aside. Her brows furrowed, and she asked:
"Be honest, who exactly is he? His aura makes me uncomfortable."
Qin Yi was taken aback for a moment, then quickly realized that Lang Ya was a Divine Beast, while Yin Qianqian was a Demon Beast—they naturally repelled each other.
"Actually, his true form is a Dragon."
"What? He’s from the Dragon Clan?" Yin Qianqian gasped in surprise.
"Dragon Clan? What are you guys talking about?"
Yun Mengyao curiously asked.
Qin Yi slapped his forehead, seeing Yin Qianqian so flustered for the first time.
"Lang Ya’s true form is a Dragon." Qin Yi said.
Yun Mengyao was stunned, then laughed exaggeratedly, pointing at Qin Yi, "He’s a Dragon? Haha...why not make it more outrageous?"
Yun Mengyao laughed so hard she was bent over, but her laughter gradually subsided.
Because both Qin Yi and Yin Qianqian were looking at her like she was a fool.
Feeling something was off, especially with Yin Qianqian’s serious expression, she couldn’t help but feel nervous, and asked Lang Ya, "Are you really a Dragon?"
Lang Ya nodded without hesitation.
The Dragon Clan are Divine Beasts, innately noble, a symbol of status and honor, nothing to hide.
Yun Mengyao swallowed, "You’re not pulling my leg, are you?"
"He is indeed from the Dragon Clan," Yin Qianqian said, noting that only a top-tier Divine Beast could exert such great pressure on her.
Lang Ya looked at Yin Qianqian, "You’re from the Nine-tailed Silver Fox clan."
Yin Qianqian was shocked, not expecting Lang Ya to see through her true form at a glance.
Lang Ya curiously looked at Qin Yi, "Why are all your friends Demon Beasts?"
"They’re my friends."
Qin Yi said earnestly.
Lang Ya was puzzled, "But you’re a human, how do you become friends with Demon Beasts?"
"When I make friends, I don’t care about their origins, whether human or demon...or even demon-human hybrids. Sometimes, demons are more reliable than humans."
Yin Qianqian interjected, "Not sometimes, they’re always more reliable than humans."
