Chapter 45: Necromancer, Invitation
Miro raised a single finger toward the skeletal horde. The summoned beasts immediately charged forward with ferocity. The armored bear slammed its massive paws into the front line of skeletons, instantly crushing dozens of armored corpses into bone fragments.
Meanwhile, the shadow panthers darted flawlessly through the chaotic ranks. They tore off skeletal limbs and crushed rusted helmets with their massive jaws.
Miro commanded the battlefield from a distance, directing the beasts with subtle hand gestures. She maintained complete control over the chaotic fight, effortlessly adjusting her summons’ positioning to protect her blind spots while maximizing their destructive output.
Solomon watched the flawless execution while checking his stream interface.
[LazyCat: SHE HAS GIANT PETS!]
[GoonLord: THAT BEAR JUST SWATTED A DOZEN KNIGHTS LIKE FLIES!]
[User12: Beast tamers are always so cool to watch.]
[OldTimer: Miro commands immense respect globally. Her spatial summoning abilities completely dictate the flow of any battlefield.]
Zoro chuckled and gestured toward the carnage. "Miro always prefers to let her companions handle the tedious work."
Miro chanted another incantation, opening three more glowing portals above the battlefield. A flock of winged serpents erupted from the tears and dive-bombed the skeletal archers, scattering rusted bones across the plaza.
The summoned creatures effectively held the line against the endless wave of enemies.
Zoro crossed his arms and sighed loudly. "At this rate, the sun will rise again before we reach the palace doors. You are taking way too much time."
Miro snapped her fingers, instantly unsummoning her entire menagerie. The beasts vanished into thin space, leaving the approaching undead army momentarily confused.
Then, a massive black crest immediately ignited across the cobblestones beneath her boots. The exact same beasts materialized from the darkness, completely transformed into decaying, rotting corpses.
Their eye sockets burned with sickly green fire. These undead variants possessed vastly superior magical energy and physical size.
A humanoid figure rose directly from the center of the dark crest. He looked entirely alive, possessing flawless pale skin and wearing pristine ancient armor. The man stepped gracefully beside Miro and gently took her hand.
Solomon watched the bizarre display in total confusion. He turned toward Zoro. "Is she using necromancy?"
Zoro nodded in confirmation. "Her innate talent is standard summoning. She spent years studying forbidden magic to learn necromancy and merge the two disciplines."
[LazyCat: A SUMMONER NECROMANCER?!]
[BloodKnight: Combining an innate spatial talent with learned dark arts is incredibly dangerous and rare.]
[User12: look at the human guy holding her hand!]
[GoonLord: I AM SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW!]
The human undead released Miro’s hand and drew a blackened longsword from his hip. He blurred across the courtyard, moving faster than the eye could track.
He plunged into the center of the skeletal army, swinging his weapon in devastating arcs that pulverized dozens of armored knights into dust.
The undead beasts joined the slaughter immediately. The rotting armored bear unleashed a massive roar, generating a shockwave of green fire that completely incinerated a cluster of approaching spearmen.
The skeletal panthers phased through solid weapons, tearing directly into the magical cores of the enemy commanders.
Solomon leaned on his greatsword and simply watched the carnage unfold. The combined forces of the undead beasts and the mysterious human companion completely overwhelmed the opposing army.
They ripped through the enemy formations with terrifying efficiency, reducing the once-intimidating horde to a scattering of broken bones and ashes across the plaza.
Solomon noticed Miro actively covering for the humanoid undead during the chaotic clash. She prioritized his safety over the rest of the summoned beasts, constantly shifting her formations to block incoming strikes aimed directly at him.
"What exactly is going on with that specific summon?" Solomon asked, pointing his greatsword toward the battlefield. "He was holding her hand earlier."
Zoro chuckled warmly. "That is her husband. He used to be a core member of our team. He died a few years ago. She learned necromancy specifically to bring him back." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Turning a corpse into a puppet fails to qualify as a revival," Solomon commented. "Furthermore, practicing necromancy violates international laws and standard ethical guidelines."
Zoro stared directly at Solomon. "You genuinely do not seem like a guy who cares about the law. I guess my initial assessment was wrong."
The chat interface immediately flooded with similar sentiments.
[User12: Solo Man talking about laws after threatening the Bureau on live stream is crazy.]
[LazyCat: You are literally an unregistered mercenary. Stop acting like a cop.]
[BloodKnight: The hypocrisy is quite amusing today.]
Solomon addressed the floating camera and Zoro simultaneously. "I entirely despise biased laws made to favor the privileged while disregarding everyone else. Dead people deserve to pass on peacefully. Enslaving their souls and trapping them in a state of constant torment and suffering is just cruel."
Zoro tilted his head. "What if he actively wanted to stay by her side forever?"
Solomon turned fully toward Zoro. "He died before she ever learned necromancy. She had absolutely no way of knowing his exact post-mortem wishes. You should never think on behalf of the dead. Just let them rest in peace."
Zoro offered a bitter smile. "You have never fallen in love, have you?"
Solomon withheld any verbal response. He thought to himself how much he hated getting asked the same question twice while failing to receive a proper answer.
’If I had a nickel for every time I was asked this, I would have two nickels, which isn’t much but it’s weird that it happened twice.’
He looked to his left side. Vlad effortlessly dismantled an entire skeletal army completely alone, spinning his spear to shatter dozens of skulls simultaneously.
Solomon then glanced to his right, watching Miro’s undead forces tear through a separate horde of armored corpses with terrifying efficiency.
Solomon gripped the hilt of Eden’s Penance and stepped forward. "The next army is mine to deal with."
As Solomon watched the battles with great attention, a loud notification pinged across his interface.
[System: Viewer77 has donated 100 Points using DirectEcho!]
Message: "Get out of the view. We want to watch the fights."
Solomon turned around and grabbed the owl with both hands. He forcefully pulled the camera lens right up to his face. "I am the main character of this broadcast. You are supposed to be watching me."
The chat immediately rebelled against his statement.
[GoonLord: GTFO AND LET US WATCH!]
[LazyCat: move your giant head Solo Man!]
[User12: literally blocking the best part of the stream.]
Solomon let go of the bird and stepped aside. He honestly wanted an unobstructed view of the carnage as well, and viewers also kept throwing a constant stream of small point donations at him just for moving out of the way.
Zoro turned to Solomon and asked, "By the way, I forgot to ask. What rank adventurer are you?"
"I am EX rank," Solomon responded with a confident look on his face.
"Oh! Did they add a new rank? That sounds like a rank that should come in between A and S rank." Zoro nodded to himself.
Solomon’s eyelids dropped. He stared ahead, letting the silent stretch before his expression went completely blank. "No, I am just unregistered."
Zoro smirked from the corner of his lips.
"Would you be... interested in joining our guild? They can help you get registered."
"Nah, I’m good."
