Live Strong in the Wilderness
Chapter 436: Discussing Classified Matters
When Jerry saw Qin Fan arriving with a Fierce Beast, he was quite surprised.
After all, it had only been half a day since Xu Yi was sent away and he had already succeeded in taming it?
Jerry took out a cigar and handed it to Qin Fan, then said in a very friendly tone, "Old Qin, is this Fierce Beast really tamed and won’t attack people anymore?"
Qin Fan immediately replied, "I quit, thanks. Rest assured, as long as you don’t attack it maliciously or threaten its life, it won’t attack you."
He used to smoke because of an old ailment; when it acted up, he needed a few smokes to feel better. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
But now his old ailment had long disappeared, so naturally, he didn’t need to smoke anymore.
However, he was curious about which reject was living so wildly, actually bringing a cigar to a wilderness challenge?
That packaging obviously came through the Star Chart, not something they made on this planet.
Upon hearing Qin Fan’s words, Jerry nodded, then said, "Then I’ll be at ease, thank you. We used a Star Chart to exchange for it, so how could we bear to maliciously harm it."
Jerry patted the head of the Fierce Beast, a slight smile appearing on his face.
This mount, naturally, was for his own use. The rest would have to wait until the other seven Fierce Beasts were tamed before they could be distributed for use.
Jerry didn’t plan to assign the Fierce Beast to anyone in particular. Instead, whoever went out to hunt would get to use the Fierce Beast.
Two people riding, or even three, was no problem. After all, these Fierce Beasts were terrifyingly strong, carrying five or six hundred pounds with ease.
After handing over the Fierce Beast, Qin Fan left.
However, he didn’t head back directly but went to check out Ivica and Li Kang’s camps.
Ivica’s camp was also engaged in training.
But Ivica’s camp used American-style training, while Jerry’s was British-style.
Arriving at Li Kang’s place, Qin Fan immediately felt at home.
After all, he had come through the same way.
"Halt, who are you, and what’s your business?" a sentry raised his rifle, aiming at Qin Fan.
Qin Fan smiled slightly; he enjoyed this feeling, as it gave him a sense of being home.
"Qin Fan, here to see Young Marshal Li," Qin Fan said truthfully.
"Hold on, I’ll notify him." The sentry naturally knew Li Kang was a military man but was surprised he was actually a Young Marshal.
Are there really such young Young Marshals? How come no one mentioned this before?
Very soon, Li Kang came out, alone.
"Colonel Qin Fan."
Li Kang saluted Qin Fan, his expression serious.
"Wow, these two have such high ranks; even Li Kang is a Major General, really? Does anyone know the story behind this?"
"This must be classified, can we talk about it?"
"Qin Fan’s background is not simple either; he’s likely from some secret unit."
"Do you think, if Li Kang orders Qin Fan to join his team, would Old Qin refuse?"
"I have a feeling they’re about to block the cameras."
Sure enough, the screen went black in an instant as both of them turned off the surveillance ball.
Qin Fan and Li Kang entered a barrack, but as for what was said, the audience couldn’t know.
Though the audience was anxious and curious, they could do nothing about it.
Inside the barrack, Li Kang handed a cup of coffee to Qin Fan.
"Old Qin, can we cooperate?" Li Kang asked directly. He had hinted at this to Qin Fan when he was at Xu Yi’s camp, so he knew he would come.
But Li Kang didn’t expect Qin Fan to be so straightforward.
"I’m afraid not," Qin Fan said after taking a sip of coffee.
Li Kang squinted his eyes and asked, "Why, even if I order you, it won’t work?"
Qin Fan nodded, seriously saying, "We’re not in the same system. You know your orders are ineffective for me, and I don’t need to carry them out. Furthermore, I’m still striving for my mission. How about you, Young Li, is it for the Li Family?"
Li Kang’s expression changed and he immediately said, "Naturally for the country. I’m also performing my task, haven’t changed my original intention."
Qin Fan didn’t respond to Li Kang’s words but continued, "Though I haven’t told Xu Yi about my mission, he can guess some of it, and he’s quite supportive of me. He’s very strong and quite possibly the only one who can last 500 days. You and I may not be able to make it to the end. Therefore, I must stay by his side, as only then can I convey my mission to him in the final moments and ask for his help."
Qin Fan took another sip of coffee before saying, "Isn’t our most basic mission to complete the 500-day challenge, then obtain control of the Star Gate?"
"Xu Yi is so smart and has met the Spirit Race. He surely knows that completing the ultimate challenge grants control of the Star Gate, allowing him to decide who and what resources come to this planet."
Li Kang stared at Qin Fan, somewhat unwilling, and said, "Shouldn’t we cooperate more then? My battalion has 180 individuals and can better support Xu Yi."
Upon hearing this, Qin Fan couldn’t help but shake his head, saying, "Xu Yi doesn’t like mingling with too many people, even less being schemed against. His strength is really formidable; he can easily hunt down 20 Level 2 Fierce Beasts by himself. Can you? Young Li, don’t provoke Xu Yi. I don’t even know how many trump cards he holds, even Lu Ke by his side doesn’t know. So, don’t provoke him."
Li Kang was momentarily stunned, not expecting Qin Fan, who was known as the master strategist within the system, to say such a thing.
"Is he really an ordinary person?" Li Kang asked unwillingly.
He knew that someone who even Qin Fan feared was indeed not someone he could provoke.
On this planet, there are no set rules. Strength is the rule. Xu Yi’s strength is supreme, positioning him to overlook all. The fact he hasn’t done so is something to be grateful for, as his worldview hasn’t changed.
"The world is vast; there are always individuals beyond our imagination. I’ve met several, so I don’t find it strange. Furthermore, thank you for the coffee; it was very mellow. I talked with Xu Yi to have a few words with you. Now that we’re done, I should get back to training." Saying this, Qin Fan placed the cup down and headed for the barrack’s exit.
Li Kang clenched his fist, then loosened it.
He understood Qin Fan’s meaning—strength is everything. If he were stronger than Xu Yi, there’d be no need to woo Xu Yi or Qin Fan.
Li Kang particularly hated the fact he hadn’t awakened his spiritual power.
Otherwise, would he need to woo Xu Yi and be rejected by Qin Fan?
Nonetheless, he still got up to see Qin Fan off as he left the camp.
After leaving Li Kang’s camp, Qin Fan returned to his own, then walked to the outside of Xu Yi’s tent.
Even before Qin Fan spoke, Xu Yi’s voice rang out, "Just come in."
Xu Yi knew Qin Fan definitely had something to report, so he was quite curious.
