Now that the enemy had been wiped out, Robson could finally relax.

"Sir Robson, on behalf of the Daoen Clan..."

"Sir Robson, I am Enki..."

At this moment, the nobles who had fled earlier all came forward to express their thanks. Regardless of Robson’s original objective, he had ultimately saved their lives.

Even if they didn’t know how to repay this life-saving debt immediately, they felt they should at least come over, say hello, and make themselves known.

"Sir, your earlier solo charge into their formation was a true display of might. The moment those Wolf Cavalry saw you, they turned and scattered. I doubt there are many on the entire Siriel Defense Line who can compare to you."

"Indeed, we were terrified just watching from outside the formation..."

Robson listened to the flattery from these North City nobles with a smile on his face.

"Not at all. It was all due to the Lord of Dawn’s blessing. The effects of the enemy’s wolf howls and horns just happened to wear off."

These nobles seemed to be praising Robson, but they were also subtly fishing for information.

The moment Robson had charged into the Wolf Cavalry’s phalanx, the enemy had inexplicably routed. It was bizarre no matter how one looked at it.

Huang Na had reverted to her fiery red canary form and was now perched on Robson’s shoulder. When she had unleashed her power earlier, Robson was already deep within the enemy phalanx, so no one had seen what truly transpired inside.

Everyone had no choice but to accept Robson’s explanation. Even if they found it suspicious, they knew they had to keep their curiosity to themselves if Robson didn’t wish to elaborate.

After all, he had just saved their lives.

"My lord, you’ve returned!" Bo Yang said, walking over to Robson.

"Mm, you reacted well this time. One must know how to adapt quickly on the battlefield," Robson said approvingly. He was referring to Bo Yang dispatching the Tier Four Soldiers in time to farm experience.

’His army is only going to get bigger. I need subordinates who can take initiative, not just puppets who only act on a direct order.’

Hearing Robson’s praise, Bo Yang looked a bit embarrassed. He had actually just intended to open the city gates to provide cover, not expecting this whole crowd to come pouring in. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"My lord, what about me? I did well too! I counted—I killed at least seventeen of them!"

Having come off the battlefield, Claude was still buzzing with excitement. His dream of clashing steel and charging steeds had finally come true, and he couldn’t calm down. He sat atop his horse, proudly displaying the blood on his sword as proof of his prowess.

"Not bad, you did well too! You definitely have potential," Robson praised with a smile.

Claude was just a teenager, after all, an age where one craves recognition. Robson had no intention of crushing the boy’s dream of becoming a Knight, especially since Claude’s performance today had been genuinely impressive.

Everyone at the scene was in high spirits, but Viscount Fuman found the situation a little strange.

’Come to think of it, Robson is actually about the same age as Claude and Bo Yang.’

"Sir," Viscount Fuman said, gesturing to a man behind him, "this is Mr. Eisen, a Clan Knight under Lady Valentino. He is here to deliver an order from the Earl."

Viscount Fuman had been with Robson for some time and had gained a decent grasp of his temperament.

Robson had dragged his feet about deploying troops, only to suddenly rush out in a great hurry. ’Considering his usual methods,’ Viscount Fuman thought, ’I don’t believe for a second that he rushed out because he genuinely thought the North City nobles were in danger.’

To play along with Robson, Fuman had deliberately left Eisen at the West City Gate to wait for his return.

"Oh? My apologies, I left in such a hurry. I wasn’t aware the Earl had orders for me?" Robson acted as if he were just finding out, putting on a look of surprise and alarm.

As for how effective this act was, one only had to look at the deeply moved expressions on the faces of the nearby North City nobles. ’We’ll never be able to repay Sir Robson’s kindness!’

Eisen stood frozen, stammering, unsure of whether he should deliver the message or not.

’I came here to order Robson to attack.’

’But he’s not only already deployed his troops, he’s completed the mission brilliantly.’

’So, do I deliver this order or not?’

"The Earl... wanted me to inform you... that she wished for you to march out and engage the enemy to the west, to buy time for our comrades in the North City," Eisen finally said, unable to bear the pressure, his face flushing red.

"I see," Robson said, a look of sudden realization on his face. He then declared righteously, "Please assure the Earl that Robson has already fulfilled his duty. I will not allow a single xeno to harm my comrades!"

At that moment, it wasn’t just the North City nobles—even Eisen was moved. He felt there was an air of honor and righteousness about Robson.

"The Sir’s reputation for righteousness is well-deserved!"

"I’d heard others talk about it, but I didn’t believe it at first. Now I see... I was the one being petty."

The fleeing North City nobles began to murmur amongst themselves, every word filled with praise for Robson.

"It was only my duty," Robson said with a laugh. "The main reason for our success was the Earl drawing the enemy’s main force. How could I possibly have the strength to fight those howling wolves on my own?"

’It’s enough for them to be grateful. They don’t need to keep saying it out loud.’

’Valentino is my superior, after all. She went to all this trouble to put on a show; I can’t just steal her spotlight.’

’As a good subordinate to Valentino, any achievements I, Lord Robson, have attained are primarily due to the Earl’s brilliant leadership. My own efforts are merely secondary!’

’If you’re going to thank someone, thank the Earl first. As for me, just remember this and show your gratitude through your actions later on.’

"Yes, yes, if not for the Earl’s Knight Order, we likely never would have escaped the wolves’ encirclement."

"We really must thank the Earl..."

Dazed and confused, the crowd started thanking Valentino all over again.

Eisen sighed in relief at this scene. The process had been a bit bumpy, but the end result was a good one.

After seeing the nobles off, Robson found a quiet spot and opened his "Mount & Blade" system panel.

The gains this time were truly enormous, especially for his Cavalry, which had undergone a complete transformation.

’Cavalry is the troop type that best reflects an army’s quality. For other units, you might be able to compensate with better gear, but if a cavalryman lacks skill, giving him a full suit of armor could actually be a hindrance.’

’A group of Tier Three Cavalry versus a group of Tier Two Cavalry is a night-and-day difference!’

After a single battle, most of Robson’s Frank Knight Recruits had become Tier Three Frank Knights. He even had 31 ready to be promoted to Tier Four Frank Skilled Cavalry.

Of all his skills, the Skilled Deriman-Improved Knight Eight Skills was probably progressing the slowest, since he rarely used it.

The only regrettable part was that his infantry hadn’t played a major role in this expedition, resulting in only a few dozen upgrades to Frankish Elite Infantry and Frankish Elite Shooters.
