Lord of All Gods
Chapter 1943 Devil Clan’s Change of Heart
At this point, the Devil Clan chieftain and some big figures were flustered.
The Devil Clan chieftain asked the Witch, "Didn’t I tell you to negotiate with Ye Liuyun? Did he say anything?"
The witch didn’t want to waste her time with him either and simply replied, "He’s asking you to surrender and pay tribute. Or, he’ll kill you on sight the next time he meets you."
With that, she put away the Sound Transmission Talisman, dismissing Tuomu Qianglei without a second thought.
"Surrender?" The Devil Clan chieftain relayed these words to other Devil Clan, who naturally disagreed.
"Rally all our forces and martial practitioners in the nearby cities to wear him out. We can outlast them on our turf!" one of the Devil Clan commanders suggested.
"Very well!" The Devil Clan chieftain immediately ordered to pool the forces from three cities ahead of Ye Liuyun. Over a hundred thousand troops were gathered in the field to confront Ye Liuyun’s Dark Legion.
Plus, almost another hundred thousand Devil Clan martial practitioners joined the fight from these three cities.
But to Ye Liuyun and his forces, this was merely a small distraction!
The hastily assembled army had no time to coordinate effectively. Even within the city walls, the Devil Clan’s martial practitioners weren’t able to defend against Ye Liuyun. Therefore their ability in a large-scale fight was as negligible!
In this battle alone, more than half were killed by the Devil-sealing Stele and Devil Vine. The remainder were swept clean by Ye Liuyun and his mere fifty thousand soldiers of the Dark Legion.
Then he withdrew fifty thousand soldiers to clear the battlefield before advancing with the remaining fifty thousand troops into the city.
The city no longer had any defenders or resistance. It became a playground for the Devil-sealing Stele and Devil Vine.
After sacking the city, Ye Liuyun immediately led his troops at full speed towards the next city.
In no time, these three cities fell to the sword of Ye Liuyun.
Other than the two hundred thousand soldiers and martial practitioners who participated in the war, each city, inside and out, was filled with dead bodies.
As soon as they saw this, the envoy’s members began to feel terrified.
"This place is hell! It’s filled with monsters."
They began reporting the events, detailing the gory fight aftermath scenes, not only to the chieftain of the Devil Clan but to all the influential individuals they could reach.
After spreading the message, the Devil Clan in various cities began to flee their cities towards the main city.
The main city was soon overwhelmed with Devil Clan refugees. Tents set up outside the city stretched for hundreds of miles.
The messenger troop raced back to their capital city, taking advantage of Ye Liuyun’s troop’s rest period.
They witnessed hordes of Devil Clan members running towards the main city as they fled. The Witch’s prophecy for the approaching catastrophe started to sink in.
Some members of the Devil Clan were stopped from entering the main city, which led to dissatisfaction Soon, disputes arose, and conflicts broke out. The refugees joined forces and struck the city’s enforcers.
The chieftain of the Devil Clan devised a scheme to recruit potential future rebellion. Anyone may enlist in the army, regardless of age or gender, and they were dispatched to intercept Ye Liuyun.’s attack.
However, this was no more than a suicide mission. After the first wave of conscription, no one fell for it again, which led to even greater dissatisfaction among the citizens toward him.
The complaints of discontent towards the chieftain within the Devil Clan grew louder.
Ye Liuyun had already informed Pei Yong to deploy reinforcements of around two hundred thousand of defected warriors after killing the praetorian of the Devil Clan.
Now, the two-hundred-thousand-strong army had already passed Dormir.
When the Devil Clan heard the news, they were in a state of complete fear and begged the chieftain to send an emissary to negotiate.
The Devil Clan’s chieftain wanted to send the Witch again, but she flatly refused.
The head of the Devil Clan was so helpless that he had to send reinforcements instead. However, not a single one of the delegates was able to meet Ye Liuyun. Only one member remained after they were almost completely wiped out earlier. However, his virtuoso had been stripped off.
His life was spared only so he could deliver a message.
It was a remarkably simple message of one sentence.
“Surrender and tributary, or complete annihilation!”
Afterwards, a whole lot of rumours started making rounds.
“The Devil Clan’s chieftain had once detained the leader of the Dark Legion, coveting their treasures!”
“The Witch was rescued by the leader of the Dark Legion, but the Devil Clan chieftain repaid his kindness with hostility. Instead of rewarding him with Devil Crystal, he locked him up."
“The chieftain once signed a treaty with Ye Liuyun, declaring that the battle would stop at Dormir. However, due to his greed, he exploited a loophole in the treaty, sending his soldiers to raid Sapien Tribe City outside Dormir, and in turn faced retribution.”
The rumours were part of the propaganda efforts directed by Ye Liuyun and Yu Xiaofeng, leveraging the spies they had embedded within the Devil Clan.
The Devil Clan, now knowing the truth, started to blame their chieftain for their misfortunes.
The Devil Clan being rejected to enter the city had two sizable bursts of rebellion, attacking the city.
While waiting for reinforcements to catch up, Ye Liuyun continued to advance steadily.
When they reached a city this time, Ye Liuyun saw a group of elderly, frail, women, and children of the Devil Clan who were grovelling and begging him to spare them.
Ye Liuyun loudly recounted their chieftain’s deeds to them.
Then he told the Devil Clan, "I give you three days to evacuate. After three days, I will move in and slaughter! If your Devil Clan chieftain, Tuomu Qianglei, doesn’t surrender, I’ll keep killing until the whole Devil Clan is wiped out."
After the announcement, he pulled back his army a little.
Many of the Devil Clan’s residents did evacuate, spreading the news as they went.
However, the City Lord kept many Devil Clans behind. When the city gate was open once again, a group of elderly, frail, women, and children of the Devil Clan grovelled and begged him to spare them. They thought Ye Liuyun might soften his heart and would again spare them.
However, this time, Ye Liuyun released the Devil-sealing Stele and the Devil Vine as he stormed in with his sword.
The Devil-sealing Stele and Devil Vine wouldn’t care who stood in front and went on a killing spree indiscriminately. Ye Liuyun was relentless as well, whoever stood before him, was slaughtered instantly.
He had to take a ruthless stance now.
These Devil Clans wouldn’t be afraid or surrender if he showed mercy. This would lead to endless wars if it became a habit. In another way, it would imply that all of his prior work was in vain.
"Kill! "Leave no one!"
That was the order Ye Liuyun gave his soldiers.
However, those who had fled were spread out Ye Liuyun’s words.
Many Devil Clans began to organise and raise against Tuomu Qianglei. If this continued, the entire Devil Clan would split apart.
He dispatched many skilled Devil Clan soldiers to eliminate Ye Liuyun, but none returned. They had all become nutrients for the Devil-sealing Stele and Ye Liuyun’s Divine soul.
The Devil-sealing Stele was growing stronger. It was capable of killing an intermediate seventh-level Devil Clan in an instant. Ye Liuyun reckoned that it could even tackle an intermediate eighth-level martial practitioner without a problem.
As for primary or intermediate sixth-level martial practitioners, they couldn’t even break through the defence of the Devil Vine.
At the same time, Ye LIuyun and his comrade’s Divine Soul had been increasing rapidly.
Ye Liuyun could currently take down a primary seventh-level fighter with his Divine Soul attack.
Tuomu Qianglei attempted to recruit more powerful supporters from other factions, but no one was willing to help him. Some forces challenged him, and he didn’t dare to punish them for fear of retaliation.
When he sought to dispatch soldiers and pointed to a commander, the selected commander instantly quit. Eventually, he just feigned to be ill and stopped attending meetings.
