Chapter 291: Deep Investigation!

The corrupted energy pulsing beneath Jax’s fingertips felt wrong, as the divine signature woven into the crystalline anchor carried traces of holy power similar to what he had sensed from the Church before, yet it lacked the purity normally associated with genuine divine blessings.

It was distorted and artificial, forced into shape through methods that clearly were never meant to exist naturally.

Jax remained crouched silently for several moments while golden light flickered faintly behind his eyes.

The dead flowers around him trembled beneath the pressure of his mana alone.

"...You’re really starting to piss me off." Jax muttered quietly.

The dimensional anchor embedded within the celestial current pulsed again weakly, continuing to siphon away power from the stars overhead.

Even now, mana flowed upward through invisible channels toward somewhere beyond the dimensional walls.

Jax followed the flow briefly with Mana Refract, the energy trail vanished before fully revealing its destination.

"...Hidden routing." He observed calmly.

Whoever designed this system anticipated detection eventually. The anchors weren’t directly connected to the Church itself. Instead, they redirected energy through layered dimensional folds designed to obscure the final endpoint.

Which meant whoever created this network possessed advanced knowledge of dimensional engineering.

Far beyond ordinary priests or mages.

Jax’s expression remained calm outwardly, but internally his thoughts sharpened further.

Someone patient and intelligent was orchestrating this, and unfortunately for them, they had touched something Jax considered his.

The air around him grew heavier and then suddenly,

~CRACK~

The ground beneath his feet shattered, golden pure mana erupted outward from his body in an overwhelming wave, instantly flooding the surrounding region.

The dying flowers nearby immediately regained color and the wilted trees straightened.

The weakened celestial streams overhead stabilized slightly under the sheer pressure of his magic alone, and the black crystalline anchor embedded within the dimensional current began violently trembling.

"...Let’s see how deep this goes."

Jax extended one hand forward, his fingers closed and the world bent. Reality itself compressed around the anchor as space folded inward with terrifying force.

The holy runes covering its surface immediately activated defensively and blinding white light exploded outward.

Divine chains manifested around the crystal, attempting to resist him but Jax stared at them flatly.

"...Cute." He muttered, and then crushed everything instantly.

~WHOOOM~

The chains shattered into fragments of holy mana and the anchor cracked down the center. A scream echoed faintly through the dimensional current.

Not a physical scream but a magical backlash. Somewhere far away, whoever had been linked to this conduit just felt it break, and would feel some pain.

Jax’s eyes gleamed coldly, "Good."

The crystal finally disintegrated completely into dust and the moment it vanished, the celestial current surged violently.

Pure star energy flooded back into the damaged region like a river breaking through a collapsed dam.

The effect was immediate as the flickering artificial stars above stabilized while mana density rose rapidly. The dead landscape around him began healing itself almost instantly.

Grass spread across the ground again, flowers bloomed and the air regained warmth and life.

Jax exhaled softly through his nose while observing the restored mana flow.

"...One down."

But his attention didn’t leave the area yet, because the anchor itself hadn’t been the true problem. The dimensional defenses surrounding the Witch Dimension were compromised.

Whoever placed these anchors had created hidden pathways through the barrier itself. Tiny fractures and subtle weaknesses which created openings that while small , were enough for infiltration.

Jax slowly stood fully upright again, then closed his eyes. The world around him disappeared from his perception.

Instead, he saw mana, entire oceans of it. The Witch Dimension unfolded before his senses as an endless web of celestial pathways and dimensional layers.

Normally, the outer barriers resembled smooth flowing walls of star-infused magic. Now however, they looked diseased.

Tiny punctures spread throughout the dimensional edges like invisible parasites feeding from the framework.

Jax clicked his tongue softly.

"...Sloppy."

Not sloppy on the Church’s part, sloppy because they assumed nobody strong enough would notice.

Unfortunately for them, Jax existed.

Golden light exploded outward from his body again. This time far greater than before. The dimensional sky itself trembled.

Throughout the Witch Dimension, countless witches suddenly paused mid-conversation as overwhelming mana pressure washed across the entire world.

Seraphina nearly dropped the glowing fruit she had been holding.

"W-What was that?!"

Nearby witches immediately looked toward the distant skies and several older witches widened their eyes instantly.

"...That’s Lord Jax’s mana."

Even Serika’s fox ears twitched slightly beneath the sheer density flooding the dimension.

Far away within the Star Sanctuary, Willow slowly looked upward. Even she herself was overwhelmed by the intense mana from Jax.

Then sighed softly, "...There he goes."

Back at the damaged region, Jax raised one hand toward the sky.

Countless golden magical formations erupted into existence around him. Layer upon layer upon layer as ancient runes rotated across the heavens themselves.

The air screamed beneath the sheer amount of magic being invoked, and then Jax grabbed the dimensional barrier directly.

His authority latched onto the framework of the Witch Dimension itself and the stars overhead brightened violently.

Celestial currents surged across the skies like rivers of light.

Then Jax spoke calmly, "Repair."

Reality obeyed.

~WHOOOOOM~

The entire dimensional barrier shook. Across the outer edges of the Witch Dimension, countless hidden fractures sealed themselves instantly.

The parasitic pathways embedded by the Church collapsed one after another. Foreign mana signatures were purged completely and ancient defensive formations dormant for centuries reignited beneath Jax’s control.

The skies illuminated with massive glowing constellations.New defensive layers formed around the dimensional walls.

Not merely repaired, but all upgraded due to Jax’s skills.

The amount of magical control required for something like this bordered on absurdity. Even among Gods, reconstructing dimensional defenses on this scale would’ve been considered monumental.

Jax did it casually, having gained <Magic Formation Mastery> as one of his recent lottery rewards as well.

The final rune locked into place overhead and then silence fell. Pure mana flowed naturally again and the region stabilized completely.

Jax lowered his hand slowly.

"...There."

The dimensional barrier now pulsed with overwhelming resilience. No hidden infiltration pathways remained and no foreign mana signatures lingered.

Anyone attempting to breach the Witch Dimension again without permission would immediately trigger catastrophic defensive backlash.

Even divine entities would struggle forcing entry now.

Jax glanced upward briefly.

"...Try sneaking in again."

The air itself practically radiated menace. Then, he vanished, and reappeared at the second corrupted location.

This region looked worse. Entire forests had begun dying here, large sections of riverbeds were dry and several artificial stars overhead flickered dangerously close to collapse.

At the center of the region, Jax could see three anchors and he stared at them silently.

"...Persistent little parasites."

The anchors reacted immediately upon sensing him. Holy runes activated violently. Defensive constructs materialized from divine mana. Humanoid shapes formed from condensed light.

Artificial angelic guardians.

Jax blinked once.

"...Seriously?"

The constructs charged him instantly, but Jax erased them by existing slightly harder.

~BOOOOM~

The pressure from his aura alone annihilated the guardians completely and the anchors trembled violently afterward.

Jax walked forward calmly.

Every step restored life beneath his feet. The grass around him regrew and mana stabilized and the surrounding celestial currents healed simply from proximity to him.

Then he raised one hand again. This time he didn’t even bother being careful, "Disappear."

The three anchors imploded simultaneously. The backlash surged through the dimensional pathways violently enough that Jax actually sensed distant panic ripple through the connected network.

Somewhere, someone just realized their operation was collapsing and Jax was using this as a warning to them not to mess with him.

Jax spent the next several hours moving throughout the Witch Dimension. One corrupted region after another. One hidden anchor after another. Each discovery revealed more details.

The Church had embedded dozens of siphoning points throughout the dimensional framework.

Some recent, and some horrifyingly old. Certain anchors had clearly been hidden for years gathering small amounts of celestial energy slowly to avoid detection.

Others were newer and far more aggressive, which meant something had changed recently. They were accelerating and rushing for more progress.

Why? That question remained unanswered.

But Jax continued dismantling everything methodically. Every restored region brought the dimension further back to life.

By the end, the Witch Dimension practically glowed with renewed power. The skies shined brighter than before, the air felt richer and the celestial mana flowed flawlessly once again.

Deep beneath all of it, Jax added something extra.

A hidden failsafe. Anyone attempting to tamper with the dimensional channels again would immediately expose their exact location directly to him.

No matter where they hid, no matter what dimension they fled toward, Jax finished placing the final formation atop a floating cliff overlooking endless glowing forests below.

Then finally exhaled softly.

"...Done."

The stars above responded almost immediately. Celestial light cascaded gently across the skies like shimmering rain. The entire dimension felt relieved. Even the mana itself seemed calmer now.

The problem with the Witches had been handled, at least temporarily.
