Chapter 1580 - 1162: Only Fit to Be Your Lover
Ash was stunned.
But he quickly shook his head and earnestly said, "In the future, don’t joke like this. Words have magic; once spoken, they become seeds accidentally sown... Igula used to warn me like this often."
As he spoke, he gave the Divine Being a gentle pat as a warning. Vishi softly hummed, silver waves rippling.
"I wasn’t joking," Vishi said softly. "I realized a long time ago that we’re not suited to be together... at least not for marriage, only for love."
"Is it because you destroyed Senluo? If you’re talking about atonement—"
"No, it’s not," Vishi shook her head. "Do you remember when we were in the Flowing Gold River beneath the Twin Abyss, I once described my ideal life to you?"
"I remember," Ash smiled. "Every day when I open my eyes, I’ll see you. After washing up, we’ll make breakfast together. In the morning, you’ll read in the study while I watch shows beside you. After lunch, we’ll have a date at the library, and after dinner will be our time of intimacy. That’s when you listen to me the most..."
"Now it seems that ideals and reality still have quite a gap. At least our time of intimacy won’t be limited to the evening." He blinked, "It feels like it starts when I open my eyes."
Vishi stifled a laugh, giving Ash a sidelong glance, "So you understand now? I’m a very dull person; even my imagined life is so devoid of interest."
"I think it’s already very interesting," Ash said honestly. "At least it doesn’t include work—just thinking about eating and doing nothing every day feels very romantic."
Vishi flicked Ash’s forehead, "Now you’re a Demigod Mage, and in the future, you’ll be the Supreme ruler of Divine Lords, the Supreme of Magic. You should have some higher pursuits, shouldn’t you?"
"I think handling my emotional issues is a lifetime of advanced pursuit for me," Ash sighed, half-jokingly, half-seriously. "But look, I’m also a very dull person. The peaceful life I pursue isn’t very interesting either. Aren’t we quite a match?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Vishi countered, "Do you know the kind of people who always say they’re tired of their current life and yearn for another, but never actually change, and instead get deeper into their current life?"
Ash: "...Are you talking about me?"
"You always talk about yearning for the ordinary, yet you break into the Imperial Palace for the Witch in the Gospel Society, fight desperately in Senluo for the Black Crow and for me, and now you’re exploring Hell for us." Vishi reached out her fingers to play with Ash’s lips, "If you were someone who truly yearns for the ordinary, you wouldn’t fall in love with this troublesome group of women; and if you were, we wouldn’t fall in love with you either."
"It’s different. Those messy things always suddenly crash onto my head, so I have no choice but to take risks," Ash argued. "Someday I won’t need to take risks anymore, and then the only way to break the monotony would be to make you angry."
Vishi shook her head, "You will definitely take risks because you care too much about the ones you love. You strive to make sure everyone is without regrets. So, you couldn’t bear to let the Witch become the Gospel, couldn’t bear to let me die. Even though you could accept a barely satisfactory outcome, you refuse to, insisting on pursuing a Miracle."
"What’s wrong with a Mage pursuing a Miracle?" Ash asked.
"But people always have regrets," Vishi said. "Just like you’ll never be able to resolve the regrets of the Sword Maiden... she’ll always torment you."
"And because you care about the ones you love, even if you settle down, your life will inevitably be colorful. Doing something as a friend with the Swindler and Necromancer shows you’ll respect others’ hobbies and can easily share their joy—Sword Maiden likes to binge-watch shows, so you do too; the Witch likes card games, so you learned to play with her; Vishi may not have shown any particular hobby, but she likes chatting with you. Even Felix loves sending you selfies."
"Haven’t you noticed? Even if they’re not lovers, you’re still everyone’s best friend." Vishi said leisurely, "Through you, I can vaguely sense how terrifying a true Observer could be. You might not feel anything, but if an Observer used this talent consciously, he would be a Heart Stealer even harder to defend against than a Spirit Mage."
"You’re too skilled at finding joy in life and in others’ moods. Even if your life is bland, it won’t be boring." Vishi’s breath quickened, "Like now, we’re discussing serious matters, yet you keep... teasing... me..."
The Divine Being suddenly straightened her neck, like an instrument with tightened strings, ready to sing out, but Ash timely sealed her lips, and the melodious song dissolved into lingering intimacy.
When their lips parted, Vishi found herself unconsciously wrapping her arms around Ash’s neck. A faint blush appeared on her face, her eyebrows curving with allure, her gaze toward Ash filled with a spring-like affection, her voice becoming all the more charming and languid, "Don’t you really want a star?"
Ash tilted his head slightly, whispering softly in her ear, "Isn’t the brightest star of Senluo right here in my arms?"
"Ash, you’re becoming more and more delicious."
"So are you."
"No," Vishi shook her head. "I’ve always been stagnant, still that dull Silver Lamp. I have no hobbies, and nothing stirs my heart anymore. Even reading and studying are just a habit for me... I used to call you an empty vessel, but in fact, I’m the empty vessel. With the loss of my world-destroying mission, I feel as if I’ve been hollowed out."
"Do you know? When you occasionally share your progress and findings with me, I actually feel no waves in my heart, only calmly analyzing and understanding them, without my mood fluctuating because of your sharing. Even with you like this, naturally, I care even less about what Sword Maiden and others say, unless they’re discussing you."
"Using the Sword Maiden as an example, if you share your thoughts after watching the same drama, she would discuss it with great interest. And if you share your thoughts after reading the same book with me, although I would also discuss it with you, but it wouldn’t make me happy."
"You enjoy finding fun in the ordinary, but I’m not interested in anything," Vishi said. "That’s why I said, we’re the least suitable pair."
"But isn’t that complementary?" Ash shrugged, "You’re responsible for the serene years, and I’m responsible for the joy and fun?"
Weiser thought for a moment and said, "If interpersonal relationships are divided into three types, the first is energy supplementation, where the relationship doesn’t drain your emotions, but instead makes you more emotionally enriched; the second is neutral, neither supplementing nor draining, just normal interaction; the third is energy draining, where this relationship continuously consumes your emotions until you are completely exhausted."
"During times of extreme survival pressure in adventurous moments, your relationship with Vishi is of the first type. She excels in turning adversity into courage. The more critical the situation, the more she bursts forth with fiery passion. But in a calm, ordinary life, your relationship with Vishi transforms into the third type. Her relentless pursuit of thrills will constantly drain your energy."
"On the contrary, with the Witch, the more survival pressure there is, the closer she gets to the third type. Her unstable emotions will continuously demand your attention. However, if you two can settle down, you and the Witch will enter the first type of relationship. She is too eager to live a peaceful life with you."
"And the Sword Maiden..." Weiser sighed softly, "Even if we might have opinions about her, we can’t deny that she is the most suitable partner for you. Whether in good times or bad, adventure or peace, you always remain in the first type of relationship. Even if there’s quarrel or awkwardness, you both can quickly resolve emotions, and occasional friction can even strengthen your bond."
"What about you?" Ash asked.
"Depends on the circumstance." Weiser replied, "If you were only with me, it would be the third type of relationship. Whether you’re happy or sad, excited or scared, I cannot empathize with you and can only respond with a calm attitude."
"Once or twice is fine, three or four times is acceptable, but if feedback is continuously absent, your enthusiasm will wane, love will fade, and ultimately, rejecting me becomes inevitable."
Ash stared at her, seemingly confused.
"Is there really nothing that can make your mood fluctuate?"
"There is." Weiser smiled and said, "Aren’t you always doing it?"
"The only thing that can make my mood fluctuate is making love with you." She leaned on Ash’s shoulder and whispered, "Only you can make Silver Lamp glow fiercely."
"I never intend to be your only one, I only wish to be your greatest love. Supporting you in forming a harem isn’t an insincere lie. Even if you truly only liked me, I wouldn’t mind if you sought out other girls. You can only replenish energy from others to fill me, this Abyss."
"So," Weiser whispered in Ash’s ear, "I’m not fit to be your wife, only to be your lover."
Listening to this, Ash was confused and gave her a kiss to calm down.
Weiser laughed softly, "So, do you think I’m more suitable to be your greatest love than the Sword Maiden? I really don’t mind being your emotional dumpster."
Ash was a bit frustrated: "I shared the news of the Observer marrying the Mirror Demon with you because you’re staying in Senluo. I wanted you to feel that ultimately, we would be together. Instead, you’ve made my feelings more complicated... I just wanted to make you happy."
"In a few days, we will arrive at the Silent Spiral. Is there anything else I can do for you? Anything at all."
The bespectacled Divine Being blinked at Ash with a mysterious look, "Really anything?"
Ash was startled, turned his head, pursed his lips, and after a moment of conflicted thought, nodded resolutely, "Since your main body must remain in Senluo, and who knows when we can return to Senluo... Perhaps, before everything settles down, this is our only chance to encounter your main body."
"I... I can try talking with the Sword Maiden."
Seeing Ash muster courage but start to tremble, Weiser couldn’t help but laugh heartily while holding him. Ash looked on perplexed, "Didn’t you say your mood wouldn’t fluctuate?"
"You are the only exception." Weiser wiped away tears of laughter, her eyes filled with joy, "You always create many exceptions for me."
"Alright, alright, I won’t take anything from the Sword Maiden. You might not fear death, but I am indeed scared of it."
Silver Lamp chuckled, "Seeing you willing to stand up to the Sword Maiden for me is already satisfying. When you see my main body, just hug me, but hug quickly and then leave, don’t linger."
"Why?" Ash concernedly asked, "Is it dangerous?"
"Very dangerous, because if you hug for too long, I might not resist following you into your Heavenly Kingdom of Souls." Weiser seriously explained, "You know your Charm is deadly to me."
"Can I have a kiss?"
"Yes, but only one."
"I feel like I might lose control when the time comes..."
"Then let’s kiss as much as you want now."
Weiser pecked Ash gently, but when Ash leaned in again, she stopped him with her lips. In his puzzled gaze, Silver Lamp maintained eye contact. Her body slithered downward like a snake until her hands grasped his belt, teeth pulling at the zipper.
Hiss.
