Magus Supremacy
Chapter 1056: No Emotion
Chapter 1056
Max had just unleashed a huge creation onto the battlefield, a creature as massive as an elephant of old, directly atop Z6.
The construct slammed into the Zodiac with all its might, causing the entire ground to shake tremendously as dust was kicked up fiercely.
...
They waited for several moments, peering into the haze to see if the Zodiac had survived or not.
Several more seconds passed in tense silence while the noise of the larger battle raged on around them.
Max touched his nose, which was slightly bleeding, with small trickles of crimson rolling down his face.
Leo panted softly as he twirled his wrist a little bit.
This was the first time he was fighting since the time he had been disabled, and it wasn’t easy.
Fighting with a single hand was a massive hurdle, especially since he was a swordsman.
His technique and skill would have functioned much better when he had both hands to support his weapon properly and fight swifter.
Though he wasn’t completely disadvantaged or useless, it remained a major hassle.
He felt rather sore in that hand as he looked ahead.
Lyra clamped her hands on her waist as she huffed, waiting for the dust to settle too.
Dante placed his palms against the earth, his gaze fixed ahead while anxiously waiting for the results.
Finally, the dust could be seen clearing.
As the cloud began to dissipate, they quickly shifted back into battle stances, ready for the Zodiac to burst out from the debris.
"..."
They calmed back down and loosened the tension in their bodies after seeing the aftermath.
A giant, wide crater yawned open in the ground.
Since they were quite close to it, they could see the Zodiac lying inside.
His form was caved in as if struck by an immense force.
His eyes were wide in agony, and his body remained unmoving as he just lay there, staring blankly at the sky.
It was hard to tell if he was dead or not since his eyes were wide open.
"Let’s take a closer look?" Lyra suggested, glancing around to get the others to agree with her.
But nobody moved for a few seconds, forcing her to sigh. "Fine. I will check."
Wind hummed around her outstretched hand, forming a translucent blade as she took steady, cautious steps forward.
Her eyes were fixed on the crater and most especially on the unmoving form, watching for any signs of a twitch.
But there was none.
Soon enough, she stood right before the fallen enemy.
The aftermath looked incredibly severe; the crackling lightning from the elephant-type creation had torn through the Zodiac’s defenses, leaving the opponent scorched badly and looking shriveled up.
It was clear; Z6 was completely incapacitated.
There was certainly no coming back from this.
Heaving a sigh of relief, Lyra turned around and dismissed the wind blade before giving a thumbs-up to the guys.
"..."
Leo’s eyes stretched wide almost instantly.
He looked absolutely horrified.
Lyra raised a brow.
Then she turned to look at Dante and Max, who both shared the exact same terrified expression as Leo.
"Wha—"
"Behind you!" Max shouted out a warning as lightning arced around him fiercely. He was ready to lunge forward, but someone beat him to it.
With a loud bang, Leo darted forward.
He flash-stepped just as Lyra was turning around to see Z6 standing before her.
They were wrong. Utterly wrong.
The opponent still had a shred of life left and it looked like he wouldn’t go down without at least taking one of them with him.
His claws lashed forward with deadly speed, streaking towards Lyra’s face.
CLANG!
Leo’s sword deflected the claw in time, catching it just an inch away from the girl’s face.
Parrying the strike away, he lunged forward and delivered a swift, decisive thrust to end the threat once and for all.
The force of the counter caused the enemy to buckle completely, the finality of the strike echoing through the small clearing.
The body swayed for a few seconds before crashing into the earth with a heavy thud, kicking up a pool of blood into the air as it finally went completely still.
Leo turned to face the girl with a slight pant.
"Are you okay?"
Lyra looked horrified from being so close to the edge that she couldn’t even hear the man’s question for several seconds.
Afterward, she nodded.
....
"SCARLET!" Vanica shouted in horror from the sidelines as the Zodiac and Scarlet vanished into a cloud of dust.
Greg and Raze stared into the haze with pale looks on their faces.
Though they couldn’t move easily, they were still ready to push through and attack.
They could send some lightning strikes into the dust, but what if it hit Scarlet?
They couldn’t risk it one bit.
But knowing who Scarlet was, she wouldn’t give up without a fight.
And they were right.
The very next second, Vince’s body could be seen hurtling through the air, bursting out of the dust like a bullet.
He crashed into the earth with a loud thud, followed by a few rolls, and then he came to a halt.
Unmoving.
Raze and Greg stared at the form for a few seconds, expecting it to move, for him to dash forward and shoot a few spikes.
But unfortunately, there was nothing.
Rising out of the crater where she had been slammed by Vince, Scarlet could be seen with blood trailing her lips and hands.
She looked in the direction of the fallen warrior without a flicker of emotion.
Raze stuttered, "Sc-Sc-Scarlet? Di-Did you kill him?"
Scarlet turned to face him for a moment, no expression on her face.
"Yes. We hesitated, and he took that chance to almost kill me. I couldn’t risk it again, so I did what had to be done."
Greg and Raze exchanged glances with one another.
Why was she speaking so casually about defeating her childhood best friend?
Lifting her gaze, she nodded at Vanica.
"Heal them both. I will go ahead and join the main battlefield."
Without waiting to be questioned again, she spun around, flames roaring around her hands and legs.
She cast a quick glance at Zodiac One, who was still seated on the throne, before hurtling away like a rocket.
