CHO EUNTAK got up from his seat when the violent man dragged Choi Seungmin away by the hair.

He was about to help his classmate.

But Baek Jeho grabbed him by the arm and stopped him from following Choi Seungmin.

"Are you crazy, Cho Euntak?" Baek Jeho asked in disbelief. "Why would you follow those people?"

"Why not?" Cho Euntak asked, confused. "It’s obvious that they’re going to fight physically. What if Choi Seungmin gets badly hurt?"

"And that concerns you because...?"

"Because he’s my classmate. Is that not enough reason to help someone who obviously needs help?"

"How can you help if you can’t even throw a punch?"

"I’m calling the police first, of course," Cho Euntak said, pulling his arm away from Baek Jeho’s grasp. He then took out his phone and started calling the police. "Baek Jeho, if you’re scared, then just stay here."

Baek Jeho looked offended, but he didn’t say anything.

Cho Euntak then walked away while calling the police.

He immediately reported what happened and gave them their location.

The staff members tried to stop him— probably because they hadn’t paid for their meal yet— but he simply pointed at Baek Jeho.

Cho Euntak immediately looked around as soon as he got out of the restaurant.

And he didn’t have to look for too long.

He could hear loud noises coming from the alleyway on his left side.

However, his body suddenly felt heavy when a strange smell hit his nose.

It stinks!

Cho Euntak covered his nose and mouth with his hand, and then he forced himself to walk towards the dark alleyway.

How could they stay there when it smells so horrible?

It wasn’t the smell of blood.

But he couldn’t pinpoint what the odor was.

It’s my first time smelling it...

Argh!

The stench got stronger and more awful when Cho Euntak finally arrived at the ’scene of the crime.’

He saw Choi Seungmin plopped on the dirty floor— the corner of his mouth bleeding.

"Choi Seungmin!"

Cho Euntak wanted to run to Choi Seungmin, but the big man with sleeve tattoos blocked his way while glaring at him.

He almost puked on the spot.

The bad odor is coming from this person...?

"Who the fuck are you?"

Cho Euntak flinched, his knees almost collapsing.

The only reason he didn’t drop to the floor was because someone grabbed him by the waist.

Oh.

Baek Jeho?

Cho Euntak immediately recognized his childhood friend even without looking.

After all, Baek Jeho’s scent was unique.

I love how he smells.

Just like that, Cho Euntak could finally breathe again.

I should ask Baek Jeho later what perfume he wears.

"Are you crazy?" Baek Jeho asked in a low, cold voice. "How dare you attack my Euntak with your dirty, stinky pheromones?"

First of all, Cho Euntak flinched because even though Baek Jeho’s anger wasn’t directed at him, he could still feel how scary his childhood friend was at the moment.

"Kids, stay out of our business while I’m still asking nicely."

"Your business became my business when you attacked my Euntak," Baek Jeho said, still using that unfamiliar cold, and low voice. "Do you want to die?"

Cho Euntak wanted to scold Baek Jeho for being confrontational, but he got shocked when a strong yet not-so-nice smell leaked out of his childhood friend.

The refreshing scent was suddenly gone.

And, now, he couldn’t breathe again.

PLOP.

No, it wasn’t Cho Euntak who fell on his knees.

Much to his shock, the scary guy dropped to the ground while grabbing his throat as if he couldn’t breathe.

Serves you right, jerk.

However...

Cho Euntak couldn’t breathe as well...

... and then everything suddenly turned black.

"Cho Euntak!"

AS SOON as Euntak opened his eyes, he realized that he was in a hospital.

In a private room, to be precise.

"Euntak-ah, I’m glad you’re awake."

"How are you feeling?"

Oh.

Cho Euntak smiled when he was greeted by his dear friends— Hong Sera and Park Sohee.

But his smile instantly disappeared when he remembered something important.

"Sera Noona, Sohee Hyung, have you heard about what happened to my classmate?"

"If you’re talking about Choi Seungmin, our classmate, then he’s fine," Park Sohee explained. "He was taken to the hospital with you. But he left after getting his wounds treated. After that, he went to the police station."

Cho Euntak’s ears perked up. "Did the scary guy with tattoo sleeves went to jail?"

"Unfortunately, that didn’t happen," Hong Sera said while shaking her head. "Your classmate decided to end the problem with a settlement."

Cho Euntak’s heart sank, feeling disappointed. "How can he forgive the person who hurt him that badly?"

"Euntak-ah, it’s probably not because Choi Seungmin wanted to forgive his abuser," Park Sohee said gently. "Choi Seungmin probably didn’t have the energy or resources to put a bastard like that in jail. Sometimes, it’s easier to just go with the flow. I’m speaking from experience, so I know I’m talking about. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t judge Choi Seungmin easily, Euntak-ah. He might be in a position where he can’t afford to fight a scary person."

"I’ll keep that in mind, Sohee Hyung," Cho Euntak said politely. Then he changed the topic since none of them knew Choi Seungmin that well anyway. "Hyung, Noona, why did I faint? Am I sick? All I remember was the pungent smell that almost killed me."

"I really don’t understand since I’m a Beta..." Hong Sera said, and then she turned to Park Sohee. "Oppa, I leave it to you."

Park Sohee nodded, and then he smiled at Cho Euntak in a not-so-nice way. "Euntak-ah, you need to take up sex education classes for Alphas and Omegas."

IT WASN’T like Cho Euntak was completely clueless about Alphas and Omegas.

After all, even Betas had received a sex education class regarding Secondary Gender from elementary to high school.

He just missed something important.

Knowing about pheromones and actually smelling them are two different things.

"So, that’s how bad pheromones smell when Alphas are angry..."

Yeah, he just talked out loud.

It didn’t matter since he was alone in the room at the moment.

Sera Noona grabbed food for us while Sohee Hyung had a meeting for his group project.

Anyway, he wouldn’t be alone for too long.

Hence, he used that opportunity to talk to himself out loud.

"Choi Seungmin and the scary tattooed guy are both Alphas," Cho Euntak whispered to himself. "So, it’s really possible— Alphas can date each other..."
