"EUNTAK-ah..."

"I think I’m about to cry..."

"You’re already crying, Sera Noona," Cho Euntak said, laughing softly at Park Sohee and Hong Sera’s reaction. Then he touched his head. "Do I look that bad?"

He had just cut his hair.

Since he was about to enlist, he had to.

And, now, he was sporting a very short buzz cut.

"I probably look like an egg."

Park Sohee burst out laughing at what Cho Euntak had said. "It’s not that bad, Euntak-ah. A handsome young man like you would still look good even if you become bald. But don’t go bald and behave while in the army. If someone bullies you, tell me immediately."

"Are you going to fight my bullies for me, Hyung?"

"No— I’ll tattle on my husband," Park Sohee said, laughing. "Kim Heedo is a chaebol, so he could fight the army for you."

"Why are you only relying on Heedo when I’m here?" Hong Sera complained playfully. "Our Daesung Group can also protect you, Euntakie. So, if someone bothers you in the army, tell me." She paused, and then she shook her head. "Actually, I’ll tell my brothers to tell the people they know in the army to take care of you."

’People in the army.’

Sera Noona is probably talking about the big shots in the army if they are connected to her older brothers.

Cho Euntak was grateful to his hyung and noona.

However...

"Admittedly, I’m a bit scared since I heard bullying in the army is pretty common. And you know how timid I can be sometimes. But I promise to change while I’m in there. So, unless it’s something a person like me from a middle-class family can’t handle, I’ll do my best to solve my problems on my own."

Park Sohee and Hong Sera looked at Cho Euntak as if they were proud of him.

And that made him chuckle.

Sometimes, I think Sohee Hyung and Sera Noona see me as a literal child.

"It’s you, so we know you’ll be fine. We just can’t help but worry because you are our precious dongsaeng," Park Sohee said, patting Cho Euntak’s head this time. "We’ll miss you, Euntak-ah."

"Don’t get sick," Hong Sera said, hugging Cho Euntak. "We’ll send you letters."

Pfft.

Cho Euntak smiled and hugged his hyung and noona. "I’ll miss you, Sohee Hyung and Sera Noona."

***

CHO EUNTAK never really liked the fact that he was an Alpha.

So, when he found out that Alphas were required to serve the army for only a year, he was beyond delighted.

I have to donate my blood and pheromones for science, though.

Which wasn’t a big deal. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The big deal was...

"What are you doing here, Heedo Sunbae-nim?" Cho Euntak asked worriedly. "You didn’t have to be here..."

Cho Euntak’s family had already left.

The only ones remaining in front of the base where he belonged were his friends.

Park Sohee, Hong Sera, and Kim Heedo.

But Heedo Sunbae-nim isn’t my friend...

In fact, Cho Euntak was a bit afraid of Kim Heedo.

I haven’t forgotten when Heedo Sunbae-nim almost attacked me just because Sohee Hyung’s pheromones clung to me...

Anyways, Cho Euntak didn’t expect Kim Heedo to be there.

For a few weeks, Park Sohee had lived separately from Kim Heedo. In fact, the two almost got a divorce because Kim Heedo had lost his memories.

But, fortunately, Kim Heedo had already retrieved his memories.

And he’s doing his best to make it up to Sohee Hyung now.

"Don’t mind me," Kim Heedo said, waving his hand dismissively. "I’m just here to greet one of the people our family knows in the army."

Aigoo.

Hong Sera’s older brothers also visited the army for the same reason.

They’re really taking care of me.

"By the way, Cho Euntak."

"Yes, Sunbae-nim?"

"Does Baek Jeho know that you’re enlisting?"

Park Sohee elbowed Kim Heedo while Hong Sera glared at the older Alpha.

But Kim Heedo remained unapologetic.

"No, he doesn’t know," Cho Euntak said while shaking his head. "And I don’t think it’s my obligation to inform Baek Jeho that I’m enlisting."

Yeah, he didn’t tell Baek Jeho.

He was running away from him, after all.

However...

"Heedo Sunbae-nim, can I ask for a favor?" Cho Euntak asked worriedly. "Can you relay my message to Baek Jeho?"

***

TSK.

Baek Jeho immediately clicked his tongue when he saw Kim Heedo waving at him.

That hyung pestered him until he was forced to agree to meet him in the Korean BBQ restaurant near his place.

No, it wasn’t the famous BBQ restaurant that Hong Sera’s ex-boyfriend owned.

It was just a common family restaurant.

"I’m surprised you eat at places like this one, Sunbae," Baek Jeho said, sitting down on the chair opposite Kim Heedo. He even looked at the older Alpha strangely while watching him grill the meat. "And I didn’t know you could cook."

"You have Sohee Hyung to thank for," Kim Heedo said cheerfully. "He turned me into a decent human being."

"Sure," Baek Jeho said, and then he went straight to the point. "Why did you invite me here, Sunbae? If you have something to say, then say it already." He checked his watch. "Euntak might be home already."

"Cho Euntak isn’t home."

"And how do you know that?"

"We just sent him to the army this morning."

"Excuse me?"

"Cho Euntak had already enlisted," Kim Heedo said bluntly. "And he asked me to deliver a message for you."

Baek Jeho was almost afraid to ask what the message was.

Did Cho Euntak curse at him?

Did Cho Euntak want to let him know that their friendship was over for real?

Did Cho Euntak ask Kim Heedo to get rid of him?

Well, the last thought was just Baek Jeho hating on Kim Heedo.

Anyways, he was hesitant.

However, Kim Heedo didn’t wait for his response.

"Cho Euntak asked me to tell you to forget everything that happened between the two of you," Kim Heedo said bluntly. "By that, he meant his confession. Once he’s out of the army, he wants you to pretend that the confession didn’t happen."

Baek Jeho frowned. "That’s impossible— how could I forget about Cho Euntak’s confession?"
