Chapter 308: THE SEAL

The Celestial Realm had fallen into a profound silence, one laced with an undercurrent of raw power and unspoken dread. News of Lumina’s ascension as Crown Princess had swept through the realm like wildfire across starlit skies, igniting whispers in every hall and shadowed corner.

Lumina sat beside her father, King Ryker, and her stepmother on the grand dais.

Her posture was flawless, her gaze unnervingly steady for one poised to reshape the fate of worlds. The weight of centuries seemed to rest lightly on her shoulders.

"I need the seal," she declared, her voice cutting through the hush like a blade.

King Ryker turned to her sharply, as though the voice belonged to a stranger wearing his daughter’s face.

For a long moment, he simply stared. Then, with visible effort, he rose. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The throne room itself seemed to press down on him.

Ryker moved toward the far wall with measured steps, each one heavy with reluctance.

He could feel controlled but he couldn’t do anything about it, after all they share the same blood.

Lumina watched him, her expression unreadable. She knew every illusion, every trick of perspective the palace employed.

When he reached the seamless stone, he pressed his palm against a hidden carving recognizable only to those of royal blood.

A compartment opened. Inside lay the Seal cold, pulsing with an authority older than the realm itself. It demanded obedience from whoever wielded it, indifferent to blood or intention.

Lumina’s lips curved into a faint, satisfied smile as it was placed in her hands.

"Prepare the dungeon," she commanded. Ryler stared at her, she could tell that look held he wasn’t ready to do it but he had no choice.

"Father... relax I am not trying to make you be in the dungeon but you lovely wife." his fist trembled and she smirked.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" Lumina asked, a sly smirk curving her lips. She stepped closer, invading his space until she could stare straight into his eyes. "Go on. Say it."

King Ryker’s jaw tightened. His voice, when it finally came, was thick with disbelief and sorrow. "You used to be so innocent. Why are you doing this? You are not the daughter I pictured."

Lumina’s smirk sharpened into something colder. "The daughter you knew was easier to kill. But the one standing before you now cannot be."

His hands trembled at his sides as the weight of her words struck him. Lumina watched the tremor with detached satisfaction.

"Don’t make me regret sparing your life," she snickered.

Ryker’s face twisted with fury and frustration. "I have given you enough time to speak. Now give the order for Mireyea to be thrown into the dungeon. Immediately."

"You!" he growled.

Lumina merely rolled her eyes, the gesture dripping with disdain.

"Luminaira Windsor!" he barked, slowly regaining control of his body as her binding power loosened, bit by bit.

The sound of her full name on his lips made Lumina throw her head back in dangerous, ringing laughter. The sound echoed through the throne room like shattering glass.

"Only my mother has the right to call me by that name," she said, her voice suddenly ice-cold.

"I am your father!" Ryker roared. "I have every right!"

"Remember this, Father you never named me," Lumina shot back. "The only child you ever truly accepted was Rhynera. How did you treat the rest of us in this palace before my mother’s death?"

Ryker’s expression faltered for a moment. "But I have treated you well since her death. I regret what I did to your mother. I..."

"You regret it?" Lumina scoffed, the sound sharp and bitter. "Please. You tried to poison me. Twice. The moment you realized the first attempt failed, you watched and waited for another chance. My marriage was arranged within minutes you spared it no thought, no care. Yet Rhynera’s wedding was celebrated with grand feasts, beautiful words, and every honor imaginable."

She let out a painful, jagged laugh.

"Did you ever once check on me after that marriage? Did you bother to see how I was surviving in a realm I knew nothing about? A blind girl dropped into a world she did not grow up in. You knew how much your precious daughter hated me, yet you never once asked how I was being treated. The first time you saw me after years apart, you tried to poison me again. And now you expect kindness from me?"

Ryker’s face reddened with a mix of shame and anger. "You are supposed to be like your mother.."

"My mother?" Lumina’s voice rose, sharp as a whip. "The same mother you killed because she was too kind, too good for you? The woman who loved you with every piece of her soul, only to be ordered to her death by the man she trusted most?"

"Lumina..."

"As Crown Princess," she yelled, her voice cracking through the throne room like thunder, "I am telling you what to do!"

Ryker couldn’t control himself anymore he gave the orders without him even accepting to talk more of knowing how it happened.

The palace responded as if it had been waiting for this very like a blade returning to its sheath.

The chandeliers suddenly ceased their subtle trembling. Distant bells hung frozen mid-ring. Even the guards seemed to forget how to breathe.

Then the familiar figure appeared.

Lumina’s carefully composed mask shattered into a bright, almost childlike smile. She rushed forward, hands outstretched.

"Aunt Seraphina," she breathed, relief flooding her voice. "You finally came. I have been calling for two weeks."

Stella remained perfectly still, her smirk sharpening, though her eyes stayed wary.

Lumina reached for her aunt like a starving soul grasping for salvation. But Seraphina stepped back calmly.

"You should not have been able to see me," Seraphina said quietly.

Lumina’s hands hovered in the air, then slowly lowered. Her face tightened with a mixture of relief and rising fury.

Seraphina’s gaze swept over her, cool and unrelenting. "You wanted me to appear, so I did. I came as quickly as I could."

Seraphina raised a single finger, and the room seemed to hold its breath.

"You can see clearly now," she said.

Lumina stiffened, as if the clarity itself brought pain. "Yes, Aunt. I am no longer blind."

Seraphina’s eyes narrowed slightly at the phrasing, detecting something false beneath the words. "Blind," she echoed softly, then looked past Lumina toward the others frozen in place

King Ryker, was still trapped in Lumina’s binding power. His eyes burned with helpless fury and confusion.

"You turn your power against your own father," Seraphina observed. "Do you believe that is wise?"

Lumina let out a laugh cold, brittle, and edged with long-suppressed rage. "He has not proven himself a good father. If I release him now, he will try to kill me." She leaned closer to Ryker, her smile sharpening. "The greatest mercy I could offer is to take the realm from him."

Seraphina did not argue. She exhaled slowly, as if she had long anticipated this path. Her attention shifted. "And Ashen? When he sends you back, what will you say? That you chose cruelty over control?"

Lumina’s eyes flickered with uncertainty for the first time. "I don’t know, Aunt..."

Seraphina stepped closer. The air around her grew warmer, heavier, as though the realm itself braced for her next words.

"You tried," she said. The words sounded like praise but landed like a warning.

"You did your best."

Seraphina turned her head slightly, listening to something distant and unseen. "You have finally unleashed your full power. The entire realm feels it now."

A ripple passed through the throne room, as if the palace had been holding its breath for months and was now forced to inhale.

The weight of Lumina’s awakened strength pressed against every stone and soul.

"People will come for you," Seraphina continued. "This is where the real battle begins."

She moved toward King Ryker, who remained paralyzed yet aware, his eyes tracking her every motion.

"You still need him in position. Rhynera has escaped the Drakonis Realm. She will be coming here."

Lumina’s triumphant expression faltered.

Seraphina’s gaze returned to her niece, enough to slice through deception.

"Let things proceed smoothly. Control from beneath the surface." Her voice dropped to a true command. "And you must go to Drakonis and also claim ownership there."

Lumina went utterly still.

"Ashen still refuses the throne," she whispered.

Seraphina’s mouth curved into a slow, satisfied smile. "Then we make him accept it. Before the realm decides you stand alone."

Lumina clutched the Seal tighter, its cold weight a promise and a chain. The path ahead was no longer hidden.

"Aunty... can I trust you with this seal?" Lumina asked and Seraphina smirked.

"It’s your choice if you hand it over or not... but for trust I am not vouching for that, this is part of you leading, if truly you want to avenge your mother’s death.. you should be smart and be able to tell those that wild stay beside you forever and those that would ditch you."
