Marrying My Bestie's Ferocious Brother - He Calls Me His Baby!
Chapter 343 - 341: From Now On, You Call the Shots in the Gu Family!
The moment their lips touched, Gu Yanshen’s body became as rigid as a rock.
The hot towel that had fallen onto the cotton quilt continued to emit steam. Lin Wanyi cradled his face with her hands, her fingertips grazing the hard stubble on his chin, which felt a bit prickly. Undeterred, she tilted her head slightly upward, deepening the kiss.
Gu Yanshen knelt on one knee by the bedside, maintaining the posture for two seconds.
Then, his large, rough hand cupped the back of her head.
The guest took charge.
His movements bore the aggressiveness typical of a soldier, yet just when he was about to hurt her, he forcibly restrained his strength. His other hand braced against the bed, the veins bulging on its back, as he tried hard to contain the beast raging within him.
The air in the room grew thick. The warm yellow glow of the desk lamp fell upon their intertwined shadows.
Lin Wanyi’s breath became stifled under his kiss, and she let out a very soft moan.
The sound became the spark that ignited the fuse. Gu Yanshen’s arms tightened, lifting her directly from the edge of the bed and placing her in the center of the soft bedding. He moved over her, propping himself with his arms on either side, careful not to crush her with his weight.
"Wanwan," his voice was hoarse, like sandpaper on a tabletop, "do you know what you’re doing?"
Lin Wanyi lay on the pillow, her long hair in disarray. Her skin, nourished by spiritual spring water, was dazzlingly white, with two patches of blush on her cheeks. She looked up at the man known outside as the "living Yama" and extended a finger to poke lightly at his rock-hard chest.
"Kissing my lawful husband," she enunciated clearly.
Gu Yanshen’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down violently. He said nothing more, dipping his head to seal her lips once again.
This kiss was even more passionate than before, with an undeniable possessiveness. Lin Wanyi wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers weaving into his short hair.
It was unclear how much time passed before Gu Yanshen forced himself to stop.
He buried his head in the crook of her neck, breathing heavily. His warm breath sprayed onto her collarbone, causing her to shiver slightly.
"Don’t move," he pressed down on her shoulder, his voice full of restraint, "let me hold you for a while."
Lin Wanyi obediently let him hold her. She could hear his heart pounding like a drum within his chest, strong and powerful, full of security.
Once his breathing became steady, Gu Yanshen straightened up. He picked up the towel that had fallen on the quilt, tossed it into the nearby washbasin, soaked it in hot water again, and then brought her right hand over, continuing to apply it on a faint red mark.
"I shouldn’t have let you handle things today," he said, staring at the red mark, his tone remorseful.
"Dealing with people like Wang Guixiang, reasoning is useless. You just have to be bolder than her," Lin Wanyi looked at his focused profile, "Besides, I’m sitting here just fine, not a bit of disadvantage."
"As long as I’m here, you don’t need to worry about anything," Gu Yanshen lifted his gaze, his dark eyes staring at her, "In the Gu Family, you call the shots. Dad and mom think so too."
Lin Wanyi smiled. She knew when Qin Lan gave her the family heirloom bracelet today, and Gu Zhen Guo stood up for her in front of everyone, this family had fully accepted her. All the prejudice and criticism that once came with the label of a "capitalist’s pampered daughter" were shattered by the Gu Family in today’s farce.
"I’ll get a glass of water," Lin Wanyi withdrew her hand, got out of bed, and went to the kitchen.
Gu Yanshen wanted to help, but she stopped him, pressing down on his shoulder, "You sit here, I’ll go."
She walked to the table, picked up the thermos, and poured two glasses of warm water. At the moment her back was turned to Gu Yanshen, she mentally activated the Spiritual Spring Space.
In the space, the spiritual spring was bubbling with water. As her relationship with Gu Yanshen warmed, the space had expanded significantly, the black soil filled with various rare medicinal herbs and vegetables. She drew a drop of the advanced version of spiritual spring water and stealthily dropped it into one of the enamel cups.
The advanced version of spiritual spring water had miraculous healing effects on hidden injuries. Gu Yanshen, with years of leading troops in training and missions, had countless scars, and his bones would ache on rainy days. Normally, she only dared to add basic spring water to meals for gradual care, but today she wanted to give him a strong dose.
The surface of the water rippled with small waves, soon calming.
Lin Wanyi returned with the two glasses of water, handing the one with the spiritual spring water to him.
"Drink some water, soothe your throat."
Gu Yanshen took the glass without hesitation, tilting his head back to drink it all.
The warm liquid flowed down his throat. In less than half a minute, he felt a strange warmth spreading from his stomach, swiftly coursing through his limbs. His chronically aching right shoulder joint, the pain akin to a pinprick, miraculously vanished. His entire body felt as if it had shed a thousand-pound weight, unprecedentedly relaxed.
He looked at the empty cup in his hand and then at his wife standing in front of him.
Lin Wanyi held her own cup, sipping slowly, her expression normal.
Gu Yanshen asked nothing. He placed the empty cup on the bedside table, stretched out his long arm, and gathered her, along with the cup, into his embrace.
He didn’t care what secrets she might have. As long as she was by his side, as long as she was Lin Wanyi, it was enough.
"There seems to be some noise next door," Lin Wanyi tilted her head slightly, her ear pressed against his chest.
Gu Yanshen released her, "I’ll go check. You sleep first."
He stood, putting on a jacket, and pushed open the bedroom door, heading to the next room, the nursery.
A nightlight with very low wattage was left on in the nursery. Two small wooden beds were placed side by side.
Gu Yanshen walked over with light steps.
Half a year old, Gu An was restless, his little leg had already kicked the small cotton blanket down to his stomach. He lay sprawled out, with a bubble of saliva slowly forming at his mouth.
Yanshen bent over, adeptly pulling up the blanket to fully cover his son’s small tummy, tucking his little hands back into the covers.
He turned to the other bed. Gu Ning was much more well-behaved. The little girl lay on her side, her small fists tucked by her cheeks, her breathing even. Her long eyelashes cast a shadow on her eye sockets. The sight of her soft cuteness softened Yanshen’s hard features completely.
He reached out, finger hovering just above his daughter’s delicate cheek.
After confirming both children were sleeping soundly, he quietly exited the room, closing the door.
Back in the master bedroom, Lin Wanyi was already lying down. She had left half the bed for him.
Gu Yanshen took off his jacket, turned off the main light, leaving only the bedside lamp on. He lifted the covers and lay down, naturally pulling her into his arms.
Lin Wanyi found a comfortable position, resting her head on his arm.
"Did An An kick off the blanket again?" she asked.
"Yes, but I covered him up. Ningning is sleeping very well," Gu Yanshen replied, his chin resting on the top of her head.
The wind and snow outside seemed to intensify. The snowflakes tapped against the glass, creating a fine rustling sound. In this material-scarce, tumultuous era of the seventies, this small bedroom was like an impregnable fortress, keeping all the cold and malice outside.
Lin Wanyi closed her eyes.
From mistakenly sleeping with the wrong matchmaking partner, to obtaining that marriage report; from being the spoiled child laughed at by everyone in the compound to now being praised as a military wife; from cautiously guarding the secret of her space, to now having adorable twin children and a husband who doted on her immensely.
Everything felt like a dream, yet it was so real.
The farce involving Qin Jian Country’s family was over, leaving them to face the village’s judgment and an indelible mark on their record. The gossips like Aunt Wang had fallen silent after this upheaval. Jiang Zhou’s research on color televisions continued steadily, and he was loyally devoted to her as the future technology magnate.
There was no need to prove anything further or to guard against anything.
Gu Yanshen’s arms tightened slightly, completely enclosing her within his territory.
"Wanwan," he called her name in the darkness.
"Hmm?"
"Sleep. Tomorrow, I’m off, and I’ll take you and the kids to the supply and marketing cooperative for a stroll."
"Okay."
Lin Wanyi snuggled closer in his embrace, listening to his steady, powerful heartbeat and feeling the warmth of his body enhanced by the spiritual spring water.
The wind and snow howled outside, while warmth filled the room.
The night was deep, and time passed peacefully.
