Martial Arts: I Have a Wilderness World
Chapter 403 - 227: The Mysterious Jade Stone
Luo Dingran was taken aback by Cheng Zongyang’s question.
He pondered for a moment before shaking his head. "My lord, I’m afraid I don’t know. The Huangfu Family was once based in Linchuan, which is now Linchuan Prefecture City.
But as for their ancestral land, I doubt many people know where it is. The Huangfu Family has been around for over two hundred years; it’s been too long."
At this, Luo Dingran seemed to recall something and added,
"If the Huangfu Family’s secret is hidden in their ancestral land, they must guard its location with extreme secrecy. It’s even possible they created a fake ancestral land as a diversion to ensure the secret of the stone carvings doesn’t get out. The true location is likely known only by that group of people who were sent away back then. Unless we can find a member of the Huangfu Family, it will be incredibly difficult to locate."
Cheng Zongyang fell silent for a moment, but then a thought struck him. "Could the Da Yi Commerce Association find it?" he asked suddenly.
This time, it was Luo Dingran who fell silent. After a moment, he shook his head. "I’m not sure about that. But if even the Da Yi Commerce Association can’t find it, then it’s likely that only the group they sent away all those years ago would know."
Cheng Zongyang stared at the six stone slabs on the floor, lost in thought.
Suddenly, he stacked all the slabs together and placed them on the counter to appraise them again.
This time, a new appraisal message appeared, different from before:
——
[Stone Slabs]
Description: Ordinary stone slabs, but they are carved with special information, making them quite valuable.
Grade: Blue
Value: 10,000 Points
——
"GASP...!" Cheng Zongyang’s eyes widened.
’What in the world is carved on these? To be worth a whole ten thousand Points... A single slab was only worth five hundred before!’
Seeing Cheng Zongyang’s dumbstruck expression, Luo Dingran appraised the slabs as well. He, too, was instantly stunned.
’Before, one slab was worth five hundred Points. Six of them should have been three or four thousand Points at most.’
’But who would have thought they could sell for ten thousand Points? So what exactly is on them? Judging by the price, it has to be something incredibly important, not just some random carvings.’
’And the cabin knows what it says! It just won’t translate it.’
Cheng Zongyang suddenly said to Luo Dingran, "Get some paper and make a rubbing of everything on these slabs. Remember, it needs to be perfectly clear. Don’t miss a single detail.
Then, take a portion of that content and post it in the request section. See if we can commission a translation. As for the Huangfu Family’s ancestral land, I’ll ask the Da Yi Commerce Association about it later."
Luo Dingran nodded, then asked, "After we’ve made the rubbing, should we sell the slabs?"
A smile suddenly appeared on Cheng Zongyang’s face. "Let’s do this: first, make three rubbings. Then, try selling one directly and putting another up for consignment.
Since it’s the content that’s valuable, the rubbings themselves should be sellable.
If both of those sell, put the last one up for consignment as well. Once the cabin buys one copy, it probably won’t buy a second. Of course, you can try it just in case."
Luo Dingran was stunned by Cheng Zongyang’s proposal.
’You can do that?’
But then he thought about it and realized it made perfect sense. The cabin’s direct purchase and the consignment system were two different things. And you could set a higher price for consignment.
"Brilliant, my lord." Luo Dingran couldn’t help but give him a thumbs-up. ’I never would have thought of that.’ "I’ll give it a try later. If it works, even if we can only sell one of each type, the Points from those two copies would be enough to buy two special items." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Cheng Zongyang smiled. He’d gotten the idea after reading the appraisal description.
’In his mind, he figured a unique item like this could probably only be sold on consignment once, but he hoped for more. It was like someone with a High Level Cultivation Technique making several copies to sell.’
’If this actually worked, he wouldn’t be so short on Points anymore.’
’But he suspected it was probably impossible.’
"My lord!" Just then, Han Mo appeared at the cabin door and called out to Cheng Zongyang. "Mr. Zhang is asking for you. He said he found something else inside the Exotic Beast."
Hearing this, Cheng Zongyang put down the beast hide he was holding on the counter and hurried outside.
Seeing this, Luo Dingran followed right behind.
「A short while later, in the apothecary’s courtyard.」
The Exotic Beast fish had already been flayed by Zhang Jinquan, leaving the ground covered in blood and gore.
Zhang Jinquan, however, was having a Soul Slave collect the blood pooling on the ground. This blood could be used to create Growth Liquid or to cultivate Red Jade Ganoderma.
Cheng Zongyang paid no mind to the fish’s fate and simply asked, "What’s going on?"
Zhang Jinquan pointed to two porcelain plates on a nearby stone table. One held several irregularly shaped beads. On the other plate lay four or five chipped pieces of jade, each no bigger than a thumb.
Both sets of items had clearly been washed, as there were still water stains on the plates.
Zhang Jinquan said, "I found these inside its abdomen. These rock-hard beads were attached to the stomach wall, practically fused with the flesh. I’ve appraised them; they should be what you’re looking for."
"As for the others, two of the larger pieces are called Jade Stone. They were also attached to the stomach wall, and these Jade Stones have some kind of pattern on them. After appraisal, the other two pieces turned out to be just ordinary Jade."
As Zhang Jinquan spoke, Cheng Zongyang was already appraising the three irregular beads on the plate.
As expected, they were indeed Demon Beast Bones. Their surfaces were smooth and polished, clearly having been partially corroded and digested away to end up in their current state.
The appraisal revealed that the total value of the three beads was 21,000 Points. Each one was worth 7,000, which was obviously less than the relatively complete Finger Bone from before.
