"I... can’t escape from here?"

The man dressed as Superman tilted his head in thought. Unable to escape and never having left were two completely different concepts.

Which one applied to him?

The Void seemed intent on unleashing his ultimate skill—relentless verbal manipulation.

"I saw everything you went through in here. Tell me, which was worse? The first seventeen years of emptiness, or the final three years of abuse?

"Have you never once thought about revenge? Coward! Those bastards who tortured you and justified everything in the name of science—and the scum standing nearby laughing, unwilling to lend a hand. Every last one of them is living far more comfortably than you ever did. You know that?

"Where’s your resentment? Your hatred? You possess Superman’s power, yet you refuse to settle those old scores. Are you really going to follow that nonsense from the New Testament—love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you? Foolishness!

"You should hunt them down one by one. Kill the men, violate the women, chop the children into pieces and feed them to dogs and bears. Throw babies into blenders and drink the pulp. Repay their cruelty tenfold, a hundredfold. Turn yourself into a demon.

"If you can’t find them, then just pick a random place and start killing whoever you see. Tell the world that unless they hand over everyone who harmed you, the slaughter won’t stop.

"And if they can’t find one of them? Then ten thousand heads for every missing person. If the second can’t be found, then one hundred thousand heads in exchange. As long as you’re crazy enough, someone will eventually drag every last person from that research facility to you—even the janitor.

"And if they’re already dead, their corpses will still be brought before you. Or if you want an even simpler solution, just learn from those two insane nations during World War II.

"Don’t focus on how they failed. That only proves they didn’t kill enough people—weren’t ruthless enough, weren’t fast enough. Learn from them. Become them. Then surpass them!"

"You have the power to destroy the Earth. Then prove it. Destroy the world and show everyone you can. Or if that sounds troublesome, maybe wake the little baby sleeping in the planet’s core and let It do the work instead.

"Don’t be afraid to wipe everything out, because it was this world that failed you. This isn’t your fault—the world never treated you kindly. No one is innocent. Their indifference itself is a crime.

"The self-righteous moderates are even more hateful than villains! Rumor-spreaders never realize that the blades in their mouths are as sharp as the knives in other people’s hands. Yet because of the stupidity of the law, unless you can prove direct harm, those people never receive the punishment they deserve.

"If you ask me, kill the lawmakers who refuse to understand reason. Throw the laws that only protect themselves into the trash.

"But sadly, the next person in power will just be corrupted all over again. So why not simply wipe out humanity altogether?

"As long as there are no people left, true world peace can finally arrive. You would achieve the greatest possible good.

"And even if you don’t care about doing good, you should still punish those who abused you, mocked you, cursed you—or even merely looked at you.

"Because sooner or later, every one of them will stand against you. They’ll oppose your opinions. Once they’re gone, the only people left in the world will be those who support you.

"And if someone changes sides? Then just keep killing.

"Maybe in the end there won’t be a single supporter left—but there won’t be anyone opposing you either. Isn’t that the truly perfect world? One supreme ruler, even if only one person remains.

"Come now, don’t worry about where their souls will go. Hell has endless demons ready to equally accept all souls.

"And don’t worry about their corpses polluting the environment. Bacteria will decompose them, beasts will devour them. Eventually everything returns to nothingness. So—"

At that moment, the man dressed as Superman abruptly interrupted him.

"Mhm. Return to nothingness. That’s what you want, isn’t it?"

The Void froze.

Then his previously heated emotions slowly subsided as he calmly replied:

"How could this be what I want? Isn’t this what you want? Don’t you want those who wronged you to suffer an even more miserable fate?

"Do you really think those corrupt white officials who stood by and ignored everything deserve to live?

"Do you truly believe this damned human civilization still has value worth preserving?

"You have the power to change all this—or at least erase injustice from the face of the Earth and destroy a civilization unworthy of continuing. So why not do it?"

"Because..."

Within this strange mental space, the two finally shifted from verbal confrontation to physical conflict.

The man dressed as Superman clenched his fist, aimed straight at the Void, and roared:

"Because I don’t fucking want to!"

His punch exploded outward!

The Void’s horse-like face twisted from the blow as his body smashed through the white room itself. The walls shattered like glass with sharp cracking sounds—then a second layer broke, then a third.

When Superman’s consciousness returned to reality, the magic imprisoning him and the Void had already begun collapsing into fragments.

The Void—previously pinned beneath him—had apparently been blasted outside the barrier by that punch, carving a massive trench through the ground.

And this was despite Superman never physically throwing a punch in the real world.

Though it was nighttime and no yellow sunlight shone upon him, the tiny wounds left on his body by the magic had already stopped bleeding rapidly. They hadn’t scabbed over or healed completely, but the bleeding had ceased.

Superman stared coldly at the Void rising from the distant ground.

Apparently the blow had hurt badly enough that the Void—whose form had gradually been drifting away from humanity—had retracted many of his tendrils and shadows, becoming somewhat human-shaped again, though still shrouded in darkness.

Superman did not press the attack.

Because he saw a familiar figure being held in the Void’s arms.

"Look who this is," the Void sneered. "Do you think she’s real? Or just an illusion? Shouldn’t she be filming in Australia right now? So why is she here? And the final question..."

He grinned.

"What do you think is about to happen?"

The Void’s questions were exactly the doubts inside Superman’s heart.

The woman herself showed little panic. Her expression was mostly confusion. She didn’t understand why she was here, who these people around her were, or what was happening.

Even when her eyes met the man in the red-and-blue suit, Charlize Theron remained bewildered.

That altered face only made her think she was somehow on another movie set.

But...

Hadn’t that actor suffered a horseback riding accident back in 1995 and become completely paralyzed? Why was he wearing the costume again?

None of the countless questions in their minds managed to leave their lips.

Then suddenly—

RIIIP—

The tearing sound struck Superman’s heart like a deafening explosion.

Right in front of him, the Void grabbed the girl by the back of her neck and left thigh—

—and tore her into three pieces.
