Marvel: Hunter
Chapter 411: Peter
Sitting on the sofa, Blaine let out a deep breath. He hadn’t expected this round of shopping to completely drain all his assets—not even a single star core remained. Only a little over five billion dollars was left. It truly felt like he had gone back to square one.
However, while the cost had been enormous, the gains were just as significant. Not only had he acquired another cosmic skill, but the greatest achievement was upgrading the Flood Dragon Trident into the Dragon Trident. With so many auxiliary abilities added, the results were undeniably rewarding.
With this many skills at his disposal, Blaine had every reason to believe that if he faced Dormammu again, he would be able to fight on equal footing.
Grrr...
The growl of his stomach broke the rare silence in the villa.
Fortunately, Blaine had stocked up on various curry ingredients in advance, so hunger wasn’t an issue.
After cooking some rice and eating his fill, Blaine realized that night had already fallen.
As darkness descended, who knew what strange things might occur in the night?
But Blaine didn’t care. He only concerned himself with his own path. He was a lone wolf in the darkness—alone, bearing everything in silence.
Perhaps in the eyes of others, a Bounty Hunter was nothing more than a ruthless killer, a villain who would do anything for money. But Blaine was fearless. He would never stop.
Acting decisively, giving everything in pursuit of what he desired—this was his way of living. Just as the prehistoric Bounty Hunters believed: act according to one’s will, without hesitation.
After an exhausting day, Blaine had finally sorted through all his skills and equipment. Then, after dinner, he familiarized himself with them, which led to him oversleeping the next morning.
He had planned to go to school today, but when he glanced at the clock, he realized he had almost slept through the first class.
Startled, Blaine jolted upright from his bed. He rushed through washing up and breakfast as quickly as possible. Then, with two successive teleports, he arrived directly at school—more precisely, at his seat.
Coincidentally, the teacher had just turned around to write on the blackboard. When he turned back, he didn’t notice that the previously empty seat in the last row now had someone sitting in it. Even the young Spider-Man beside Blaine rubbed his eyes in disbelief, as if questioning his own vision. Hadn’t that seat been empty just a moment ago?
As for why Blaine used two teleports—during the first, he had gone to his house in Queens. As expected, the ruins were gone, replaced by a brand-new home. Needless to say, it had to be Tony’s work.
This time, no one would dare blow it up again. Although Blaine didn’t live there often, it was still the home he had inherited after crossing into this world—the only property left behind by parents he had never met. Naturally, it was important to him.
After sitting through the entire morning, Blaine once again experienced the dull monotony of student life.
Not only did he have to endure the teacher’s almost hypnotic lecturing style, but he also had to put up with the constant chatter from Peter Parker beside him. The nickname really wasn’t undeserved—Blaine was genuinely taken aback by how much he talked.
Blaine didn’t do anything all morning—he simply listened to the young Spider-Man’s endless chatter.
Peter started from something as trivial as helping Uncle Leo buy groceries, going into detail about how he bargained over prices. Then he moved on to helping Aunt Juniper find her lost cat, describing just how cute it was. From there, he somehow transitioned into stories about Tony and Happy. By the end of it, Blaine felt completely overwhelmed.
When Blaine had decided to return to school, he had only wanted to relax and enjoy the youthful atmosphere. Who would have thought he would end up being tortured like this by Spider-Man?
In the end, under the combined pressure of Peter and Ned—the chubby kid—Blaine was even persuaded to agree to attend their student party...
After enduring all that, Blaine finally felt a sense of relief when the dismissal bell rang. Since the party was scheduled for the following night, he was already thinking about how to come up with an excuse to slip away as soon as school ended.
School in the United States usually ends relatively late, so by the time Blaine left, it was already close to dusk. Fortunately, the night was his favorite time of day.
Even without company, Blaine enjoyed walking alone through the streets. Watching the city lights and feeling the presence of people around him made him seem less alone.
So after school, instead of teleporting home immediately, Blaine chose to walk at a leisurely pace. It was, in its own way, a form of relaxation.
After walking for a while, his stomach began to growl again. At noon, he hadn’t eaten at all—Peter had kept him occupied the entire time, and the school cafeteria food was practically inedible.
What made things more awkward was that, because he had overslept and rushed out in the morning, Blaine hadn’t brought any cash with him. All he had was his phone. Although the United States was technologically advanced, in some aspects of daily life, it was still less convenient than expected. As a result, Blaine had no choice but to find a bank to withdraw some money.
Activating Hawkeye, Blaine centered his perception around himself and quickly located the nearest ATM in Queens.
Coincidentally, there was one less than five hundred meters away—just turn left at the intersection and walk another three hundred meters.
However, Blaine noticed something unusual. A van was slowly approaching the bank, moving in a suspicious manner.
At first, Blaine didn’t think much of it. He assumed it might just be someone driving under the influence—after all, there were plenty of drunk drivers in the United States. So he continued walking, casually observing the surroundings as he made his way toward the bank.
But when he turned the corner and looked toward the bank, he saw that the van had stopped right at the entrance.
It was around dinnertime, and there were very few pedestrians on the street—especially in such a remote area. From that perspective, the van’s presence seemed even more suspicious.
Suddenly, the van doors swung open, and a group of people jumped out.
Blaine took a closer look—and to his surprise, they were dressed like the Avengers.
