Master Of Astral Summoner
Chapter 207: Miniatur transmutation
Dr. Marshal placed his palm on one of the stacks of sacks nearby. In the blink of an eye, a spell symbol formed, quickly covering the surface of the stack, and the stack instantly vanished from Shaan’s sight.
"Huh?" Shaan rubbed his eyes repeatedly, watching the pile of sacks vanish instantly. "W-wait, this isn’t possible. That pile was clearly right there," he said, his voice stuttering, his face pale. "D-Did you make it disappear with your power?"
"No, Shaan." Sebastian patted his shoulder and tried to calm him down. "Dr. Marshal doesn’t have the power to make that pile of sacks disappear at all."
"Th-Then where did it go?" Although confusion still filled his face, curiosity pushed him to seek an answer. "Dr. Marshal, where did you send it?"
"What do you mean by that, Shaan?" He folded his arms and shook his head. "I didn’t take it out of here at all. That pile of sacks is still here. It’s just that you haven’t been paying close enough attention."
"Ehm..." Miss Daisy adjusted her glasses and pointed toward Dr. Marshal. "I think you should move a little closer." She smiled softly. "If you take a closer look, you’ll be able to see it."
"Take a closer look?" Shaan scratched his head, looking even more confused. "I have absolutely no idea what those two are talking about."
He still couldn’t understand Dr. Marshal’s explanation. The pile of sacks had clearly vanished right before his eyes. Even so, Shaan decided to follow Miss Daisy’s advice. He slowly walked closer to Dr. Marshal and stopped beside him. Dr. Marshal then pointed toward the floor. "Now, tell me what you see there."
Shaan followed his finger. The moment his eyes landed on the floor, they widened in shock. He froze. For several seconds, he couldn’t say a single word. Then he quickly crouched down to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.
"T-That’s..." His voice trembled. "That’s the pile of sacks!" Shaan immediately looked up at Dr. Marshal. "How is that possible? Why did they suddenly become so small?"
"That’s Dr. Marshall’s power, Shaan," Sebastian smiled. "Miniature Transmutation."
Shaan blinked."Miniature transmutation?"
"Ehm... " It’s a kind of ability that can change the size of an object to be larger or smaller according to the user’s will," Miss Daisy explained, adjusting her glasses slightly. "Even though the size changes, the shape and weight remain the same as before." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Interesting. I never would have guessed Dr. Marshal was capable of something like that." Shaan slowly stroked his chin. "But is that really true?"
Doubt still lingered in Shaan’s mind, so he tried to prove for himself whether what Miss Daisy said was true or not. Slowly, he tried to pick up the two sacks at the very top of the miniature stack of sacks, lifting them with his fingers.
’Good grief, it weighs the same,’ Shaan thought as he pulled at the tiny sack with all his strength. ’Damn it. I can’t even lift it.’
"Well, Shaan?" Dr. Marshal folded his arms and waited for an answer. "Do you believe us now? As Sebastian said earlier, everything Miss Daisy told you is true. However, this ability only works on non-living objects."
Not me." Sebastian pointed to the side. "Miss Daisy said that."
"Ah, right, right." Dr. Marshal lightly slapped his forehead. "My apologies."
"That’s a very interesting ability, Dr. Marshal." Shaan placed the tiny sacks back onto the pile. "With something like this, we won’t need a large storage area anymore, right?"
Dr. Marshal simply nodded. "That’s right. However, using this power too often will quickly drain my mana," he explained briefly. "That’s why I rarely use this power except at critical moments like this."
"Ah, alright." Shaan nodded. "I understand."
"Okay, enough with the small talk." Dr. Marshall turned his gaze toward Miss Daisy. "Miss Daisy, please explain the process of making the potion to us."
"Ehm... alright." Miss Daisy gave a small nod. "Creating artificial rain requires four stages. Each stage serves an important purpose, and we must complete every step correctly."
"So, what are the stages, Miss Daisy?" Shaan’s expression grew increasingly curious.
"Purification, infusion, drying, and finally grinding."
The furrow on Shaan’s brow was clearly visible. His face grew increasingly confused. "Miss Daisy, could you explain them one by one? I don’t understand a single thing you’re saying."
"Hmm... Alright, if—"
Sebastian immediately interrupted Miss Daisy. "Miss Daisy, let me explain it to Shaan."
Miss Daisy nodded slowly. "Ehmm... Alright. Sebas."
"Purification comes first. We heat the alchemical salt and remove any impurities to produce pure salt," he said. "Then comes Infusion. After we obtain the purified salt, we mix it with the catalyst compounds we prepared earlier."
"What about drying?"
"During the Drying stage, we heat the mixture again after everything combines properly," Sebastian explained. "However, this time we use a much higher temperature. We usually use an oven or something similar. The heat evaporates the moisture inside the mixture and leaves behind solid crystal chunks."
"So, grinding means these solid crystals are ground into a fine powder?"
Sebastian nodded. "Exactly. The crystal chunks will be ground into a fine powder and placed into an airtight container."
’I see.’ Shaan scratched his head repeatedly as he tried to memorize every part of Sebastian’s explanation. ’This is a lot more complicated than I expected.’
"Ehm... Dr. Marshal and I will handle the Purification and Infusion stages." Miss Daisy shifted her gaze toward Shaan and Sebastian. "Ehm... I’d like the two of you to take care of the Drying and Grinding stages."
"Alright, we understand," Shaan and Sebastian replied at the same time.
"So, Shaan, do you understand the explanation Sebas gave earlier?" asked Dr. Marshall. He looked curious. "Or is there something you want to ask?"
"Uh... Yeah, I guess so..." Shaan slowly scratched his head. His voice trailed off.
Seeing Shaan’s reaction, Sebastian immediately raised one eyebrow. "Shaan, what’s wrong? Is there something I didn’t explain clearly enough?"
"Ah, no, no. It’s all clear now." Shaan sighed. "It’s just... I’m not used to things like this at all."
"Hey, relax. I’m sure you can do it." Sebastian patted Shaan’s shoulder encouragingly. "You just need to focus and follow Miss Daisy’s instructions. Easy, right?"
Shaan forced a small smile. ’Yeah... I just hope I don’t mess everything up.’
