Chapter 372 --Setting Out for the Alliance of All Races
Caelan rubbed the space between his brows in distress.
He felt as though matters were becoming more and more complicated, and he did not like the sensation of having his destiny manipulated by someone else.
He tried his best to recall every single detail from the dream. Just then, he suddenly realized one crucial point.
The version of himself within the dream seemed to have appeared inside the simulated world, but this obviously did not make sense!
If it truly had been the simulated world, then why had there been such a massive amount of digital data?
Moreover, the simulated world itself existed around the World of Myriad Races in the form of a subsidiary world.
Therefore, that other version of himself should not have been some parallel-world version of him, as he had initially guessed.
Logically speaking, he should not have existed at all.
And yet, reality was that he had indeed appeared.
In that case, there were only two possibilities.
Either the other "Caelan" was not located in the simulated world at all, but in some kind of digitalized world—one that very likely had a direct connection to the descent of the game.
Or the "Caelan" within the dream was not truly him in the first place, but some unknown existence that wished to convey certain information to him.
Caelan shook his head, temporarily tossing these chaotic thoughts to the back of his mind.
There were simply far too many layers of fog before him right now. He had no way of deriving any analysis of genuine value from them.
Forget it. He would stop thinking about these things for the time being.
After enjoying the butler’s attentive personal service, Caelan ate a simple breakfast before making his way to the headquarters of the Ironclad Legion.
According to the agreement concerning the meeting of the Alliance of All Races, the meeting would be held today. Every race would be required to bring the Fragments of History in its possession in order to exchange intelligence with the others.
A short while later, Caelan spotted Evelyn.
Evelyn would be accompanying Merlinster, and she was similarly one of the participants in this meeting.
After waiting for all the members to gather, they traveled through a Teleportation Array to the permanent neutral territory of the Alliance of All Races.
It was an enormous island located deep within the Infinite Sea, surrounded by desolate waters with no signs of habitation anywhere nearby.
The headquarters of the Alliance of All Races had been established on this island, and every important meeting was held here.
However, as time passed, more and more races began focusing solely on affairs within their own territories.
Combined with the domineering behavior of the elves, the entire Alliance of All Races had gradually become an organization that existed in name only. It had already been a very long time since any proper meeting had been held.
The only reason this meeting had been convened was because of the pressure brought by the Lord of Abyss.
After arriving on the gigantic island, Caelan and Evelyn stood shoulder to shoulder, looking toward the enormous meeting hall in the distance.
"I have to admit, this meeting hall is certainly impressive. I just wonder whether we’ll actually obtain any valuable intelligence from this meeting."
Hearing Evelyn’s words, Caelan naturally understood the implication hidden within them.
Obviously, Evelyn did not think particularly highly of this Alliance of All Races meeting.
After all, every race was selfish.
Making them bring out the Fragments of History they had treasured and concealed for so many years would probably be even more difficult than killing them.
However, Caelan had already obtained the latest intelligence from Caesar. After receiving the prohibition, the myriad races had not stopped their activities at all.
On the contrary, they had intensified all of their efforts to collect more Fragments of History.
"Lord Caelan, tell me, if those elders can clearly deal with matters like this by themselves, why did they have to bring us along?"
At that moment, Kate approached them from the side.
Quite naturally, she wrapped her arms around Caelan’s arm, but her voice was filled with dissatisfaction.
"I thought this would be some kind of interesting place. But everywhere I look, there are nothing but cold, lifeless rocks. It isn’t fun at all. There’s absolutely nothing interesting here."
"Brother, Big Sister Evelyn, why don’t we just leave? It’s not as though they need us here anyway!"
Hearing Kate’s words, Caelan had to admit that he was tempted.
However, he still wanted to obtain firsthand information after the exchange of the Fragments of History was complete.
Although Evelyn had also been constantly complaining, she understood the importance of this matter. Thus, she patted Kate lightly on the shoulder and comforted her.
"Kate, don’t be so impatient. I heard Commander Merlinster say that the representatives of the other races in the Alliance of All Races want to meet the two of you."
"As the Chosen Ones of this era, I imagine they are extremely curious about your existence."
"Besides, quite a number of inheritors should also be arriving at the meeting."
After hearing Evelyn’s explanation, Kate pouted slightly.
However, she now understood the importance of this occasion, so she did not continue causing trouble.
Just then, Orlando’s steady voice rang out from behind them.
"You little brats, do you think this damned place is unbearably dull and boring? That there’s nothing interesting about it at all?"
"Actually, back when I was your age, I also hated this kind of solemn and imposing atmosphere. I always felt that everyone was just putting on airs and trying to act impressive when there was absolutely no need for it!"
Upon hearing Orlando’s words, Caelan and Evelyn exchanged a glance, the corners of their mouths twitching uncontrollably.
Their Orlando really was someone who cared nothing for formalities!
Nevertheless, they still nodded, indicating that they agreed with Orlando’s view.
Orlando, meanwhile, continued explaining to them.
"To tell you the truth, bringing you here this time was also something we had no choice but to do. Several inheritors from the elven race have arrived. As rising stars among the races, if not a single representative of the human race appeared, we would look far too shabby."
"More importantly, it would make it seem as though we possessed no sincerity whatsoever."
"Therefore, after discussing the matter, we old fellows had no choice but to bring the three of you along."
Caelan nodded, expressing his understanding of Orlando’s explanation. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
In truth, at this stage, greater honesty between the races was indeed necessary.
If everyone continued hiding their strength from one another even when the Lord of Abyss could descend at any moment, there would be only one possible outcome.
Everyone would be finished together.
On the other side, Evelyn’s and Kate’s eyes instantly lit up.
However, what the two of them were thinking was completely different.
What Evelyn was thinking was that she would be able to see other inheritors of the [Dark Titan]. That would give her the perfect opportunity to judge their strength and later find a chance to collect all of the [Dark Titan]’s inheritance items.
Kate’s thoughts, on the other hand, were far simpler and much more brutal.
She merely wanted to memorize the auras of those people, then visit each of them one by one whenever she had the time...
And beat them to death.
Just then, Kate suddenly looked toward Orlando and raised a question of her own.
"Orlando, Kate killed two inheritors before this. Is that going to cause any problems?"
Orlando burst into laughter, showing not the slightest trace of concern.
"Little Caelan, there’s no need to be so nervous. The strength of our human race is no longer inferior to that of the elves, who appear powerful on the outside but are hollow within."
"At a time like this, other than the elven race, who do you think would dare come looking for trouble with us?"
