Maybe I really am a Villian
Chapter 122: Mission [8]
The masked figure looked at the two Master-rank guards and said in an emotionless tone,
"No one will leave this place alive."
As soon as the two Master-rank guards heard those words, their expressions became even uglier.
They already knew that, no matter what they did, they couldn’t defeat these two.
One of the guards tightened his grip on his sword and asked, "Why are you even killing us? We have no animosity between us."
The masked figure replied calmly,
"Because I’m paranoid, and I don’t trust you."
He paused for a moment before continuing,
"And why would I trust complete strangers to keep this secret?"
His gaze then shifted toward the Viscount’s daughter, who was trembling in fear behind the two guards.
After looking at her for a few seconds, he spoke once more.
"And the biggest reason you’re all dying today..."
"...is because you’re weak."
A brief silence followed.
Then he continued in the same calm, emotionless voice,
"The only thing I can give you is a painless death."
"Nothing else."
After saying those words, both masked figures vanished at the same time.
The battle began once again.
The two Master-rank guards knew they couldn’t escape, so they immediately went all out.
Massive torrents of water surged through the dark dome, while countless wind blades filled the surroundings.
Unlike before, they no longer had to worry about the the other assassin attacking the Viscount daughter, since there were only two opponents now.
However, they still had to protect the Viscount’s daughter, preventing them from using some of their strongest attacks freely.
But there long range spell had no effect on Masked figure.
The two masked figures continuously disappeared and reappeared around them, dodgeing the spells fired at them as well as attacking from every possible direction.
One moment they were in front of the guards.
The next moment, they were already behind them.
The two guards fought with everything they had.
Whenever one of the masked figures attacked the Viscount’s daughter, one of the guards would immediately intercept the attack.
Whenever both masked figures attacked together, the two guards would work together to block them.
The battle continued like this for another five minutes.
By now, both Master-rank guards were covered in wounds.
Their clothes had been dyed red with blood, and their breathing had become heavy after continuously protecting the Viscount’s daughter while fighting two Spatial Masters at the same time.
On the other hand, the two masked figures remained as calm as they had been from the very beginning.
Their breathing hadn’t changed at all.
They continued attacking with perfect coordination, never giving the two guards even a single moment to recover.
Finally, an opening appeared.
One of the masked figures suddenly teleported behind the Water Master, while the other appeared in front of him.
The Water Master instinctively blocked the attack in front of him.
But at that exact moment, the masked figure behind him swung his mana blade.
The blade cleanly severed his head.
His headless body collapsed onto the ground.
Seeing his companion die, the Wind Master knew he had no chance of winning.
Even so, he still stood in front of the Viscount’s daughter.
He had only one thought left.
As long as he was alive, no one would touch her.
The two masked figures vanished once again.
The next instant, they appeared on both sides of the Wind Master.
Two mana blades flashed at the same time.
The Wind Master desperately raised his sword to block one attack.
But he couldn’t stop both.
The second mana blade sliced through his neck.
His head fell onto the ground, and his body collapsed shortly afterward.
The battle had finally come to an end.
Inside the dark dome, only the two masked figures and the trembling Viscount’s daughter remained alive.
Without a single moment of hesitation, the masked figure severed the head of girl in a single clean strike.
...
Asher’s two vessels looked at the corpses of everyone present.
One of them then asked, "So, what should we do now?"
The other replied, "Of course, we’ll only take the corpses of the assassins and leave everyone else’s bodies here. That way, the blame will be shifted onto the assassins, forcing the Reaper Guild headquarters to hold an emergency meeting. Then we’ll have the perfect opportunity to kill all of them at once."
The first vessel looked at the corpses again before saying, "What if this incident still isn’t enough to make them hold an emergency meeting with all of their members present?"
He paused for a moment before a smile appeared beneath his mask.
"I’ve got the perfect idea to make this incident even bigger."
He looked around the battlefield before continuing,
"Let’s leave a message for everyone."
After leaving the message and storing the assassins’ corpses inside his spatial storage, the two vessels deactivated the artifact.
As soon as the artifact was deactivated, the black dome surrounding them began to crumble.
The spatial seal also disappeared, allowing them to teleport once again.
Without wasting a single moment, both of them teleported away before the black dome completely dispersed.
A few moments later, the black dome disappeared entirely.
The guards who had remained outside immediately rushed toward the center of the battlefield.
However, by the time they arrived, the only things left were the corpses of their comrades, the bodies of the two Master-rank guards, and the lifeless body of the Viscount’s daughter, whom they had failed to protect.
And then they saw the message written in blood.
"All Hail the Great God Zevark."
Everyone’s expressions changed to surprise and confusion.
Soon, the incident became the hottest topic in the whole continent because it involved the Church. No one was stupid enough to claim that it was the Church’s doing, but everyone had the same question:
"Who was crazy enough to anger the Church?"
As soon as the Church learned about the incident, they began investigating the culprits behind it to maintain their public image.
