Maybe I really am a Villian
Chapter 28: Test [1]
"For every beast you kill, you will earn points according to its rank. If a team member is eliminated, your team will lose 10% of its total points. Additionally, for every six hours you survive, you will receive extra points."
"And when you eliminate a member of another team, you will receive bonus points. Also, you are not allowed to use anything from your subspace throughout the entire test," said Elisa while directing her gaze toward Asher.
"You are only allowed to store objects that you find on the island in your subspace, but using any external objects will result in immediate elimination."
"That is all for the rules. After entering the portal, you will be teleported to different locations along with your teammates.
Now, everyone enter the portalat with your team members."
Soon, six teams entered the portal, and only Asher’s team was left.
As they were about to enter the portal, Asher looked at Elisa, who had an amused smile on her face.
Then she said, "There is a special surprise waiting for you when you arrive on the island, Asher."
Asher narrowed his eyes slightly.
Whenever Elisa smiled like that, it usually meant trouble.
"What do you mean by surprise?"
But before he could continue asking, a strong gust of wind came from behind them and pushed them into the portal.
The one who had manifested the wind was Elisa.
And then Asher’s team was also transported to the island.
The moment they entered the portal, their vision blurred.
A strange spatial force wrapped around their bodies as the surroundings twisted and distorted. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
For a brief moment, everything turned completely white.
Then—
Their feet touched solid ground.
A humid breeze brushed past them as the loud cries of beasts echoed throughout the forest.
Tall trees surrounded them from every direction, their dense branches blocking most of the sunlight.
The air itself felt heavy with mana.
Adam immediately grabbed the handle of his sword and looked around cautiously.
"We should first check our surroundings and secure a safe place before nightfall."
Noah nodded.
"Agreed. Fighting recklessly from the start would be stupid."
Aria silently observed the area while gathering information about possible beast tracks nearby.
Meanwhile, Asher stood there quietly.
Very quietly.
"What are you thinking about?" Noah asked quietly.
Asher then said, "I just figured out what the surprise is."
"What is it?" Aria asked with an indifferent expression.
Asher replied, "The whole island seems to be under a spatial interference field."
"What does that mean? Can you use spatial magic?" Noah asked nervously.
Meanwhile, at the mention of spatial interference field ,Adam was cursing in his mind. If only Asher had been on the enemy team, he would have at least gotten a chance to take revenge for all the suffering he had endured because of him.
"I can still use it, but now I can’t just teleport everywhere as long as I know the coordinates."
"What do you mean by that? Explain it properly," Noah said, unable to understand what he meant.
Asher then explained, "I can’t teleport the way I usually do because this field interferes with spatial magic. Even if I calculate the distance correctly, I could still end up teleporting to the wrong place. When I used to teleport behind you, I would calculate the distance between us and then teleport there. But now, if I try that, I might end up some distance away from the position I intended to teleport to."
Then Aria said, "So what are you going to do? It will really affect your entire combat style."
Asher looked at her and replied, "I knew something like this would happen anyway someday, so I’m already prepared. There’s nothing to worry about."
The three of them simply nodded at him. If he said he would be fine, then there was nothing to worry about.
Then they focused on their surroundings.
They were surrounded by tall and dense trees.
Asher then looked at Aria and asked, "Any presence of beasts or students near us?"
"No, at least not within a 100-meter radius," Aria answered calmly.
Asher nodded at her words and then said,
"We will form groups of two. One group will collect food, and the other will find a place to stay for the night. Any objections?"
All three of them stayed silent.
"So no objections. Then Noah and I will try to collect food, while Aria and Adam can find a place to stay," Asher said while plucking some leaves from a tree.
Suddenly, Adam said in a hurry, "Well, you know Noah and I have something important to discuss, isn’t that right, Noah?" he said while looking at Noah, who had a surprised expression, as if saying, ’What discussion?’ But seeing Adam’s panicked face, he too said in understanding, "Yeah, it’s a really important discussion."
Asher was confused by their behavior but did not think much of it and said, "Okay then, Aria and I will be in charge of food, and you two can find a spot to stay for the night. Now, any other problems?"
"None," both of them said at the same time quickly.
Asher then asked them to extended their hand and told to not resist his mana.
They did not understand what he was doing but they still complyed.
Asher then put his hand on theirs and said, "I am marking your hands with my mark, so if you encounter any danger or have something important to discuss, just try to remove my mark. I will know immediately and would teleport to you, and if I can’t due to the large distance, I would still know your location and would be able to arrive quickly. Also, if I try to teleport you, don’t resist it"
Teleporting objects is easy since they don’t have any will, but you can’t just teleport living beings as they have their own will and can resist. You can still teleport them, but only if you have a stronger will than them, and it will also cost a massive amount of mana to teleport living beings.
