Chapter 30: Test [3]

While Noah and Adam were fighting the beast for their lives, Asher and Aria moved in silence while searching for any edible food.

Then suddenly, Aria stopped.

Noticing this, Asher also stopped and asked, "What happened?"

Aria calmly replied, "There is a beast about 90 meters ahead of us, and it has also sensed our presence."

"What species is the beast?"

"A Three-Tail Monkey. It is at Gold 1 Star."

A Three-Tail Monkey is a beast that feeds on fruits. An adult Three-Tail Monkey is almost four meters tall, has four strong limbs, and mostly lives in regions with deep forests.

Asher then said, "That’s good. It will save us a lot of trouble."

Aria was confused by his reply. "What do you mean?"

Asher just smiled and said, "I will tell you later. First, let’s meet the beast."

Aria just nodded and did not ask any further questions.

Then Asher moved toward the beast.

Aria also followed him.

After reaching the beast’s location, they finally saw it.

It was almost 3.8 meters tall, its limbs were as thick as normal tree trunks, golden eyes and orange fur covered its whole body except for its face.

It looked at both humans with a wary gaze.

The Three-Tail Monkey let out a low growl as it stared at the two humans standing before it.

Its three long tails moved slowly behind it while its sharp golden eyes carefully observed their movements.

Asher looked at the beast for a few seconds and then smiled.

Aria looked at him in confusion. "Why are you smiling?"

Asher replied, "Because this beast solves our food problem."

Asher then leaped forward to attack the beast while Aria used her mind attack to confuse it.

The moment Aria used her mind attack, the Three-Tail Monkey suddenly froze for a split second.

Its movements became unstable, and confusion appeared in its golden eyes.

Asher immediately took advantage of this opportunity.

He soon reached in front of the beast and slashed its chest with a mana blade.

A sharp blue mana blade formed around Asher’s hand as he slashed at the beast’s chest.

A deep wound appeared across the Three-Tail Monkey’s chest as blood splattered onto the ground.

The beast let out a furious roar filled with pain and anger.

It retaliated by swinging its arm at Asher, but Asher quickly retreated and fired a massive spear made of mana toward the beast.

The beast managed to dodge it, but its left arm was still grazed by the spear.

The mana spear tore through the monkey’s thick fur and left a long bloody wound across its left arm.

And then the spear hit the tree behind the beast, causing the tree to be destroyed.

The Three-Tail Monkey roared in pain and fury.

Its golden eyes became bloodshot as it glared at Asher with killing intent.

The next second, the beast suddenly charged toward him on all four limbs.

Then he plunged the sword deep into the beast’s skull.

The beast let out a deafening roar and staggered forward, its massive body trembling violently. Cracks began spreading across its skull as mana surged through the blade, destroying everything inside.

The beast tried to turn around and retaliate, but its movements had already become sluggish. Its eyes slowly lost their glow, and after taking a few unstable steps, the massive creature collapsed onto the ground with a thunderous crash.

Asher calmly pulled the mana sword out of the beast’s head and looked at its lifeless body without any change in expression.

Aria looked at the lifeless body of the beast and then at Asher, who hadn’t suffered a single injury throughout the entire battle, and said,

"You really are suited to be an assassin."

It was easy since the beast didn’t know about my teleportation ability. The way you utilize information along with your ability is key to winning a fight."Asher said while storing the corpse of beast inside his subspace.

Aria just nodded at him and said, "So now you are using your mana projectile as a mark to teleport, but now your teleportation destination can be detected easily."

"You’re relying too much on unpredictability," she finally said. "In a real fight, smart opponents won’t just react—they’ll adapt."

Asher just nodded at her words and said, "I know."

And then Asher simply started following the tracks of the Three-Tail Monkey to find the location of the fruits.

Meanwhile, at the Academy, in a room, various professors in charge of teaching the first-year S class were watching a large projection showing footage of various students engaged in fights or wandering around the island.

One projection showed Noah and Adam fighting the Gold Rank beast with impressive coordination. The way things were going, the battle would soon end in their victory.

Elisa said in a serious tone, "Even after limiting his spatial magic, he is unbeatable in a 1v1 fight. His lack of hesitation and full control over his emotions show that he has prior experience in battling beasts."

"Yeah, you’re right. But I wonder how he got all that experience. Did Edward leave him in the wilderness to survive, or is it something else?" Alfred said, the head professor.

"It is not our business to meddle in the teaching methods of noble houses," Elisa said, while looking at the projections showing Leon Zevark using light magic to eliminate a group of Silver Rank blood-sucking bats, and another display showing Princess Celestine using lightning magic to kill a group of Silver Rank wolves, while Kevin raised the dead monsters as undead.

Alfred then said, "But they are still like normal first-years—making mistakes—and it is apparent that they don’t have much experience. Out of the three of them, only Leon can hold his own against Asher due to his higher mastery in swordsmanship."

Elisa said, "But he would only last for a while; in the end, he would still be defeated in a one-on-one fight, and in a real battle scenario, he would likely be killed."
