Chapter 44: Assassin guild

Lunaris, the capital of the continent under the complete rule of the Royal Family.

The capital city was massive, filled with skyscrapers, busy streets, and advanced technology.

Cars moved through the crowded roads while giant digital screens and neon lights covered many buildings. People from all kinds of backgrounds filled the markets, malls, cafes, and business districts.

And there was a restaurant, which seemed to work like a normal restaurant.

But in reality, it was just a cover to fool people.

Underground, it was the base of a branch of the assassin guild, the Reaper Guild. Most of its members were trained from a young age to become assassins and had no family or friends, making them perfect killers.

But they were also perfect targets to be killed and have their bodies taken over, since most people did not even know them and their names were not registered in the system. There would be no missing complaints and nobody close enough to notice any change in their behavior.

And Asher had infiltrated this guild one year ago when some assassins tried to kill him in his own house. Someone from the inside had helped them, otherwise there was no way they could have done it. But they all met their end that day.

Their bodies were taken over and used to infiltrate this guild, and now almost 80% of the entire branch consisted of Asher’s vessels, with no one suspecting anything.

Now only the main branch was left, which was difficult to take over since it had its best members at Master Rank and the Guild Master at Grandmaster Rank.

Inside one such branch, in a dark room, six people were sitting. All of them were Asher’s vessels, all at 1-Star Diamond Rank.

They were all playing games.

Then another person entered. He was at 4-Star Diamond Rank.

"Enough rest, now it’s time to complete a mission."

All six of them turned toward him and asked, "Is the mission from the main branch?"

The 4-Star Diamond vessel answered, "Yeah, that’s why we have to complete it. Otherwise, why would I even bother with it? We can’t let them notice anything wrong, so of course we have to complete this mission."

One of the vessels asked, "What is the mission?"

"Nothing much, we just have to kill the master of a small guild. He is at 6-Star Diamond Rank."

"Anything else?"

"Nothing important. It is just that he is a sex addict ."

All six vessels turned toward him and said, "These humans and their weird fetishes. Why can’t they live normally? Why do they indulge in drugs and lust so much? There are many more ways to enjoy life."

The 4-Star Diamond Rank vessel said, "We move at 12 PM. It will hardly take an hour to complete this mission."

At 12 PM

Asher’s seven vessels reached the target’s location. In front of them stood a mansion, and at its front gate stood two Silver Rank guards.

Without attracting the attention of the guards, all seven of them entered the mansion.

They could not use spatial magic, as it would leave traces behind.

Without using spatial magic, the seven vessels moved carefully through the mansion like silent shadows.

Their footsteps were almost impossible to hear as they passed through the dimly lit corridors.

From time to time, servants and guards walked nearby, but none of them noticed the seven intruders hiding within the blind spots of their vision.

The vessel leading the group stopped near a large hallway and closed his eyes for a moment.

After sensing the mana fluctuations inside the mansion, he calmly said, "The target is on the third floor."

The others nodded silently.

Just as they were about to move again, two guards suddenly appeared from the corner of the hallway.

The guards did not even get the chance to react.

One vessel instantly moved behind them while another covered their mouths.

A sharp strike landed on their necks, and both guards lost consciousness immediately.

Their bodies were dragged into a nearby storage room without making any noise.

After that, the seven vessels continued advancing deeper into the mansion, their expressions remaining completely calm as if infiltrating a heavily guarded mansion was an ordinary task for them.

After reaching the third floor, they stopped in front of a large room.

One of the vessels slightly opened the door and looked inside.

An old man was sitting alone in the room while reading documents under the dim light of a lamp.

"The target confirmed," one of the vessels whispered. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

The next moment, all seven of them entered the room silently.

The old man sensed something and immediately looked up, but before he could react, one vessel appeared behind him and covered his mouth while another pierced his heart with a dagger.

His eyes widened in shock before the light within them disappeared completely.

The vessels quickly erased every trace of their presence inside the room.

After confirming the target’s death, they silently left the mansion the same way they had entered, without attracting anyone’s attention.

By the time the guards realized something was wrong, the seven vessels had already disappeared into the darkness.

After returning to their hideout, one of the vessels said, "If it were that easy to kill a Master Rank, then we would not have to do this kind of work."

Another vessel replied, "Just a little more time. Once we reach the Master Rank, we can finally begin the real plan."

The hideout fell into a silence after those words.

One of the vessels leaned against the wall and spoke calmly, "The real plan has already taken too long."

Another replied, "Patience is necessary. If we act too early, everything will collapse."

A third vessel stepped forward and said, "The balance of power in this region is still unstable. If we move now, the stronger factions will notice us."

The one with the highest rank said, "Why are we even talking to ourselves? We are the same person in the end."

"Cause it’s fun"

"Let’s just spar for some time now."
