Maybe I really am a Villian
Chapter 50: Gifts
After teasing Adam, Asher then called for the waiter.
After hearing Asher call, the waiter came to their table and asked, "Yes sir, do you need anything else, or should I get you your bill?"
Asher looked at him and then said, "We have finished eating our food."
"Now can you please pack the remaining desserts that are left?" said Asher while looking at the rest of the desserts.
The waiter just nodded at Asher’s request.
Then Asher continued, "Also pack 10 thousand vanilla ice creams."
"Yes si---" The waiter’s professional smile faltered at the mention of 10 thousand vanilla ice creams, because who buys 10 thousand vanilla ice creams? He then calmed himself, thinking Asher must be joking, and said, "Sir, are you perhaps joking?"
Asher, who was smiling till now, had a look of confusion on his face and said, "No, why would I joke about ice cream? I am serious. Can you do it? And don’t worry about the money."
The waiter still could not believe it, but seeing Asher’s expression and the clothes of his friends, he thought that Asher must be a noble, and he might really be serious about buying 10 thousand ice creams.
Then the waiter thought while looking at Asher, this kid must have really liked the ice cream.
Then the waiter said with his professional smile plastered on his face, "Yes sir, we can do it, but it will take some time to prepare it, so could you please wait for some time?"
Asher nodded at the waiter’s response.
Seeing this, the waiter went to the kitchen to prepare the order. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Aria, Noah, and Adam did not even say anything about his request to pack 10 thousand vanilla ice creams, already used to his obsession with desserts.
After a minute of silence at the table,
Aria looked at Asher, who was sitting beside her while Noah and Adam were sitting in front of them.
Then she said, "No matter how rich your family is, they still would not accept you spending money on ice cream like that, so how can you spend it like this? You just ordered 10 thousand ice creams, which 10 thousand people could eat. And from a fairly good restaurant too, it would not be cheap."
Asher looked at her and said with a smile, "Yeah, my family won’t allow this, but this is my own money, so there is no need to worry about it."
The moment Asher finished his sentence, Adam looked at him with disbelief and said, "Your own money? Since when did you start earning money? No, wrong question, how can someone like you even earn money? You are too lazy to work and earn money."
Noah nodded at Adam’s words.
Asher looked at Adam and said, "Well, I found a really good life hack, but only nobles can use that life hack. This life hack can make you rich overnight."
Noah got excited at the mention of this life hack Asher was talking about, but after knowing that only nobles could use it, he lost his excitement.
Aria was curious about this life hack of Asher, so she asked, "So what is that life hack?"
Adam and Noah also looked at Asher to learn what this life hack was.
Asher looked at them and said, "It is nothing much, but on my birthday, merchants, the Church, and other nobles would always send gifts like swords, artifacts, decorations, etc., even though I never hosted a birthday party. And since these gifts were mostly useless to me, I would just sell them. And I have to say, these gifts were really expensive. I earned a fortune, enough that I won’t have to worry about buying food for my whole life even if my family cuts my financial support."
After those words left Asher’s mouth, Adam opened his mouth, then closed it again.
His expression was so full of disbelief that calling it shock would have been an understatement.
Finally, he spoke in a trembling voice, "Yoou sold the gifts sent by the royal family, the Church, and other nobles? Are you crazy? It is a huge insult to nobles if someone sells the gifts they sent. If they find out about it, they will be furious."
Asher simply replied, "I never asked them to send me those gifts. Since they were given to me, why should it matter to them what I do with them?"
Adam stared at Asher as if he were looking at a madman.
For a few seconds, he could not even find the words to reply.
Then he finally said, "That is not how nobles think. Gifts between nobles are not just gifts, they are symbols of status, relationships, and respect. Selling them is basically the same as slapping their faces."
"Especially gifts from the royal family and the Church," Noah added. "Most people would lock them up like treasures and show them off to others. But you actually sold them for money..."
Asher looked completely unconcerned.
"So?" he said casually. "They sent me a mountain of useless things I would never use anyway. Expensive paintings, golden decorations, jewel-encrusted cups, rare antiques... They were just collecting dust in storage."
"Those are treasures!" Adam shouted. "Do you even realize how valuable those things are?"
"I know," Asher replied calmly. "That is exactly why I sold them."
"You should not have done it. You will regret it later," Adam said before falling silent.
Asher looked at him and replied, "Why does everyone keep saying the same thing over and over again?"
He then continued, "Nobles should send things like rare tasty fruits or something delicious. Why send decorations?"
Meanwhile, Aria just looked at him and finally said, "Did you perhaps not receive any education about noble culture and etiquette during your childhood?"
Asher looked at her and replied, "I did receive it, but I never followed it because it seemed stupid."
Noah then sighed and said, "At least we did not get into any serious trouble today. I thought we would definitely get into trouble today."
