Ever since reaching a certain secret agreement, as long as he had time, Gao Yang would frequently call home.

The calls with his parents didn’t last long, and Gao Yang hung up soon after and immediately discarded the phone.

Sometimes, Gao Yang seemed overly cautious, but after mingling with people like Black Demon for so long, he had no choice but to be careful. Even though they claimed his parents’ phone wasn’t tapped, who knew if that were true?

Dealing with people representative of national forces, being a little extra cautious wasn’t enough. Perhaps the people Gao Yang was interacting with now had no ill intentions, but what about in the future? Or if the people changed? Or if someone thought he was always a threat? It’d be better to try and learn about him and track his whereabouts during interactions. Even if not needed now, having this information isn’t a bad thing.

Thus, Gao Yang would never reveal too much on the phone, not just to avoid worrying his parents, but for other reasons as well.

After hanging up, Gao Yang didn’t know what to do.

Feeling melancholic alone for a while, given the intense and exciting recent times, Gao Yang felt utterly exhausted.

The house belonged to Gao Yang, but felt unfamiliar to him. It was evident Yelena had put a lot of effort into the house. Gao Yang opened a bedroom door, looked at the clean and tidy setup inside, and without touching anything, directly lay on the bed, soon falling asleep.

This should have been the most restful sleep Gao Yang had had recently.

Not knowing how long he slept, Gao Yang slowly opened his eyes to see Yelena sitting at the bedside.

Allowing someone into his home and sitting by the bed without noticing was something impossible for Gao Yang, yet it happened.

The reason was simple: Gao Yang was in a state of complete relaxation in his own home, and Yelena posed no threat to him.

Gao Yang sat up, wiped his face, and smiling, opened his arms towards Yelena, who immediately pounced on him.

After lying and embracing for a long time, Gao Yang gently moved Yelena’s hair and said with deep affection, "When did you get back?"

"About half an hour ago. I went home first, saw Dad was back, then came straight here. You’re sleeping so deeply, I’ve never seen you sleep so soundly. You’re really exhausted, aren’t you?"

Gao Yang sighed and smiled, "Yeah, this time I’m really worn out."

Yelena immediately asked, "Are you going to rest for a while longer then?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Gao Yang nodded and replied, "Yes, but even while resting, there’s a lot to do, mainly meeting many people."

Yelena pinched Gao Yang’s face, rubbing hard, saying displeased, "What kind of resting is that? Resting means not working."

Gao Yang turned the tables, pinching Yelena’s face back, and smiled, "Men have to work. Haven’t you heard the saying, women conquer the world through conquering men, men conquer the world to conquer women?"

Yelena laughed, "I’ve already been conquered by you again and again. Now you want to continue conquering the world, does that mean you want to conquer more women?"

Answering yes would be his death, Gao Yang laughed, "No, I just want to solidify my rule over you."

Yelena held Gao Yang’s face, examining it over and over before saying contentedly, "The best decision of my life was seizing you from Catherine in time. Really, it’s my greatest achievement."

Gao Yang felt a bit embarrassed, and Yelena, realizing her slip, stuck out her tongue and laughed, "Sorry, did I embarrass you again?"

Gao Yang forced a smile, "We rarely meet, why mention her? I’m just friends with her."

Yelena sighed, "Yes, why do I keep mentioning her? It’s too much. I think it’s because I lack security. I shouldn’t worry about my life anymore, but I’m afraid Catherine will take you away. I know you two can’t just be friends. There are no pure friendships between men and women. It’s precisely because you and Catherine are so disciplined that I’m afraid."

Bringing up another woman right after meeting felt quite uncomfortable, but Yelena had finished speaking, leaving Gao Yang unsure how to respond. The worst part was the incredibly complex relationship between Catherine, Gao Yang, and Yelena, which couldn’t be untangled or avoided.

Gao Yang lamented how supposed rivals Yelena and Catherine became friends. This situation seemed unreasonable; they were all so familiar, that any attempt to stray was nearly impossible and embarrassing.

Yelena sat up, shook her head, and said, "Have a meeting with Catherine sometime. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting anything beyond friendship. Absolutely not. I’m not that generous. I just think you shouldn’t stop meeting just because of me. Plus, with Adele around, nothing could ever happen between you two."

After this contradictory statement, Yelena frustratedly tousled her hair and said, "Why do we keep talking about Catherine? Let’s change the topic."

Gao Yang remarked innocently, "You’re the one who keeps mentioning her."

Yelena pouted, "That’s because I know what you’re thinking."

Gao Yang shrugged, "I’m not."

Yelena suddenly, seriously looked at Gao Yang, "Look into my eyes and tell me, during this time apart, did you think of me more, or Catherine more?"

Gao Yang replied without hesitation, "Of course it was you!"

"You never thought of Catherine? Look into my eyes, swear you won’t lie to me!"

Gao Yang frowned and smiled bitterly, "Let me think... I swear, ninety-nine percent of the time, I thought of you. As for Catherine, she just occasionally crossed my mind, but absolutely nothing else."

Yelena breathed a sigh of relief, "I feel better now."

Gao Yang found Yelena very strange, so he asked curiously, "What’s up with you? You’re acting so weird today."

Yelena shrugged, "A friend of mine, we’re close, her boyfriend was taken by another woman. I got a bit of a crisis feeling. Okay, I admit, I’m insecure. I’m afraid of losing you, especially because Catherine is so outstanding, how can I not be worried?"

Gao Yang felt he needed to reassure Yelena, but as he racked his brains, his satellite phone rang.

The call was really untimely. Gao Yang answered, only to hear Cui Bo shouting, "Brother Yang, what are you doing? I’m with Little Donnie, and Nate’s screwing us over again. That bastard is such a prick!"
