Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System
Chapter 719: Prince Andrew
Beatrice forced herself to stand on one leg. "Go down."
Rovan stared at her. "Down? That is where they are."
"There should be a maintenance tunnel under the tower. If we stay here, the ones outside will break in."
"And the ones below?"
"We kill or pass them."
Rovan laughed once, but it came out dry. "You say that like we can."
Beatrice leaned on her staff. "Either that or die."
Rovan's face darkened. "Just where are they right now!? If only they're here."
Beatrice did not answer. She hat tried contacting Alex and MingYue, but got no respond.
"You should worry more that we don't even see any Celestial cultivator coming out."
The city were in chaos, but so far they only see police, robot guard send out. She doesn't even see the city formation being used at all.
Normally at emergency like this, the city wide formation should be able to teleport all the hostile outside, or at least send a warning.
The crawling infected suddenly rushed upward.
Rovan raised the metal bar.
"Fine."
He stepped in front of Beatrice.
"Then we go down."
At the same time, far above them, in the city hall.
The grand hall that once represented the authority of the city was now silent.
Dried-up bodies were scattered all over the ground.
Some wore military uniforms. Some were elders from large clans.
Their bodies had shriveled until they looked like old wood.
Only Kael was still standing.
He leaned against the broken meeting table, one hand clutching his chest.
Black lines spread under his skin, moving like worms.
His face was pale, and blood leaked from the corner of his mouth.
"Primordial soul poison..." Kael said while staring at the man in front of him. "Just where did you get this?"
The man smiled. He wore a simple black coat, and his face was the same face Kael had known before.
His royal family's backer. The one who had supported him.
But now all the higher-ups in the city hall were dead by his hand.
"Dead men do not need to know," the man replied simply.
Kael's eyes trembled with anger. "I don't get it. Why do all this?"
His voice became hoarse.
"You already had everything you needed. The city, the election, the factions under pressure. Why come here and destroy everything?"
The man walked across the bloodless floor slowly. His shoes stepped over the dried bodies without care.
"You should blame yourself."
Kael frowned.
The man stopped in front of the window and looked at the burning city below.
"You brought two uninvited guests. Because of them, I had to change my plan."
Kael's eyes widened.
"Edward? the Dragon Prince's representative?"
The man turned his head slightly.
"Dragon?"
For a second, his eyes widened.
Then he burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Dragon? You still think he's the dragon side?"
Kael's face changed.
The man wiped the corner of his eye as if he had heard something amusing.
"You do not even know who you were talking with. But to be fair, that part was not a complete lie. The Dragon Prince is really on his way here."
Kael's breathing stopped for a moment.
"The Dragon Prince? Coming here? That's impossible."
The relationship between the races was already like dry powder waiting for one spark.
If a Dragon Prince came to a human planet, it would become a huge event. At the very least, people at Kael's level should have received information.
The man smiled. "Well, it is what it is. He is also bringing a huge prize toward us."
He looked through the window. His gaze did not stop at the city.
It passed through the sky, as if looking far into the universe itself.
Seeing that gaze, realization struck Kael.
His face turned pale. "You... you are the second prince in the succession line."
The man looked back at him.
Kael's voice shook. "The All-Seeing Eyes. That is his trademark."
The man's smile grew wider. "Oh. I am sure I hid its appearance. But for you to still feel the fluctuation, it seems you are better than what I heard."
He walked toward Kael.
Kael tried to move, but the black lines inside his body tightened.
His knees almost gave out.
The man stopped beside him and put one hand on his shoulder. "As a prize, let me tell you this."
His eyes began to glow.
A symbol of infinity appeared inside his pupils.
"The Emperor has sat on his throne for too long."
Kael's eyes widened.
"No... no, wait... Prince Andrew..."
The symbol in Andrew's eyes spun.
Kael screamed. "ARGHHH!!"
The scream lasted only a moment. His body dried up from the inside.
His skin shrank. His eyes sank. His hair turned white, then fell out.
When Andrew removed his hand, only a dried husk remained.
Kael's body collapsed to the ground.
Andrew looked at him calmly. "I should have had a few more years, if not because of your foolishness."
He turned his gaze in another direction.
His eyes pierced through layers of buildings, roads, and underground formations.
"Now let it begin." His voice was calm. "Let the Anti-Progenitor stand up."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"That insect progenitor should be a good first target."
Deep underground, far beneath the city, there was a huge dome.
The dome was hidden under layers of old formations, dead tunnels, and sealed space.
From outside, no one could sense it. Even the city-wide formation had been cut off from this place.
Inside the dome, the scene was like the memory Alex had seen.
Many vampires knelt on the ground.
Blood flowed from their bodies and moved toward the center like small rivers.
Their faces were pale.
Many had been chained to the floor, unable to move even if they wanted to stop.
At the center of the dome was a murky ocean of blood.
Faces kept rising from the surface.
Many expression appeared there, then sank back into the blood.
A gray-haired man stood before the blood ocean.
There were two long scars over his eyes, but his face was filled with expectation.
He raised both hands. "Progenitor, you wished for your heir. We waited for thousands and thousands of years, yet no one came."
His voice spread through the dome. "Now we will make our own god."
