Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 218 - 90: Heaven and Earth Change Color
The screen showed the sky over Hongcheng in June, thick with roiling, dark clouds. Two armed helicopters that had been circling on alert above were now in a hasty retreat.
"Winds, rise!"
The moment the two armed helicopters pulled back, Su Zhou cried out softly. In that same instant, a dazzling, cyan-blue Thunder Light began to flicker around his body, seemingly in response to the roiling black storm clouds in the sky!
RUMBLE! Another, even more violent roar resounded. June in Hongcheng was always a time of clouds and rain, but now, for some unknown reason, the sky abruptly darkened as gales erupted from all directions!
In an instant, the winds surged and the clouds roiled, transforming the very sky. Between the layers of black clouds, cyan serpents of lightning writhed before erupting outwards!
And amidst the deafening thunder, a voice rang out, clearer than the roar of the storm itself!
"Thunder, Come Forth!"
He brought his raised right hand down, as swift and decisive as a conductor’s baton. The intense, almost-corporeal Spiritual Light coiled around it surged toward the empty center of the field. In response to Su Zhou’s command, a thick bolt of Thunder Light descended from the sky, accompanied by an explosive crack!
BZZZT!
In that moment, all electronic equipment across the testing grounds failed. Only the camera, which had been specially shock-proofed from the start, continued to function normally.
And so, it filmed the exact moment the Celestial Thunder descended from the heavens and struck the center of the field!
BOOM!
After the initial crack, the intense current ignited the very dust in the air, creating a powerful shockwave. Even on the insulated ground, a massive electrical charge radiated outward, engulfing everything within a ten-plus-meter radius. Bright flames erupted from the lawn, flaring to life.
And then... a torrential downpour!
SPLASH—The rain that fell was warm, a hallmark of southern summers sometimes called "boiling water rain."
As this sudden, unforecasted downpour extinguished the flames in the center of the field, the sound of the rain finally jolted the stunned audience out of their trance.
"Summoning thunderbolts... Calling the Wind and Summoning the Rain!" A middle-aged man was utterly dumbfounded. "Extraordinary Power can actually do something like this?!"
"Is this really the power of a student who just started his Cultivation?!"
"This is on a completely different level from before! He’s just too powerful! He’s basically an Immortal from the legends!"
"Unbelievable! Simply unbelievable!"
Instantly, nearly every viewer watching the Central channel was, to some degree, shaken by this terrifying power. Someone even muttered to themselves, "If he can summon thunder and make it rain just because the sky is overcast... then how is he any different from a Thunder God?"
"His Tier! It’s the Extraordinary Realm!"
"He’s not Awakening Tier, he’s Extraordinary Tier!"
This scene wasn’t just being watched by the people of Zhengguo.
Extraordinary Organizations across the globe were constantly watching each other, always paying attention to any event that served as a stage to display their power.
The Spiritual Power practical test, held after Zhengguo’s Holy Ascension Selection Test, was without a doubt such a moment—an event akin to a military parade, meant to showcase their strength and depth of talent.
"This is no feat an ordinary Transcendent could accomplish."
Far away on the other side of the world, across the ocean, somewhere in the America Federation.
In a stark white conference room, two elderly Caucasian men stared at the large screen before them, watching the bolt of Thunder Light descend from the sky. They both sighed in amazement. "An eighteen-year-old in the Extraordinary Realm? He can Summon Thunderbolt? Where in the world did the Thirty-Six Saints of Zhengguo find a Monster like that? He’s practically a modern-day Thunder God."
"Even with a built-in brain chip, starting semi-autonomous Cultivation from the age of three, it would still be incredibly difficult to advance to the Extraordinary Tier by eighteen... Besides, the ’Assistive Cultivation System’ is still far from being a success."
After their sighs of amazement came silence. The elder wearing a monocle shook his head and sighed again. "Looks like they’re about to gain another ridiculously powerful top-tier fighter... I can only hope they’ll be foolish enough to grow jealous of his talent and force him out..."
"Forget it. Even if a few of them are fools, there are always some among the Thirty-Six Saints who aren’t. Besides, an age of chaos is upon us. If he’s strong, so be it. Everyone will have their hands full. We just need to stick to our policy of isolationism."
Coincidentally, in a hidden chamber somewhere in the European Union, a council of top-tier Transcendents, meeting via holographic projection, came to the exact same conclusion.
"He is a threat... an extremely powerful one that will become apparent in the future. But this has nothing to do with us. An age of chaos is coming. No matter how strong they become, they won’t have the energy to meddle in anyone else’s business." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Within the next twenty years, everyone in the world will have to adapt to the global changes brought by the rising Demon Tide."
"Add the name ’Su Zhou’ to the highest-level watch list. Of course, we are not to interfere. We only need to watch."
Similar decisions were being made in Extraordinary Organizations in every country.
Get rid of him? Don’t be ridiculous. The highest Extraordinary Rank in the world was currently only the Extraordinary Level, and those at that level weren’t necessarily even as strong as this eighteen-year-old. Get rid of him? It was hard to say who would be getting rid of whom. Besides, most countries already had a mountain of problems to deal with. Who had time to worry about some other nation producing a genius? No matter how shocking it was, all they could do was watch.
Even the large, transnational Mysterious Organizations hidden in the shadows were shaken by this.
"Someone like *that* has appeared over in Zhengguo?"
