Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 729 - 728: Why Are You Crying?
"Oh!"
After Simon Sterling finished speaking, Serena Sullivan responded, a single light word that barely revealed her true emotions.
But after speaking, she reached out to grip the cup in front of her, her knuckles tightening forcefully.
"She was pregnant with twins."
Simon smiled, lifted his hand to put a piece of fish into his bowl, then meticulously picked out the bones before placing the clean fish meat into Serena Sullivan’s side.
"We knew from the beginning."
"She left Alder, and the old man was furious with me, demanding that I bring Wyatt Sterling back!"
Similarly, Simon’s words were light, giving no clue to what his mood might be!
"I went the day she gave birth!"
Simon smiled again as he said.
Even after so many years, he remembered those events from that year vividly.
He recalled how the old man was beyond furious with him for giving so much of The Sterling Corporation’s shares to the Kane Family.
The Sterling Corporation wasn’t just his; it had been the result of generations of The Sterling Family’s efforts to reach its status at the time.
And yet, for Claire Sullivan, he had handed it over to the Kane Family; it was easy to imagine the depth of the old man’s anger!
But, once done, even the old man’s anger and unwillingness couldn’t change anything.
The anger naturally shifted to Claire Sullivan, with the old man demanding a grandson from her!
Simon agreed to it, for the sake of Claire, filled with guilt towards The Sterling Corporation and his family.
That night, he received the call saying Claire was about to give birth.
He drove straight to Solaria, waiting at the hospital gates for the child’s birth. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Anticipation! Excitement! At that moment, he was also deeply anxious.
Indeed, when he took Wyatt Sterling away, Claire Sullivan, ignoring her postpartum condition, rushed out.
The wind and rain were fierce that night, soaking him to the bone as he held Wyatt tightly, afraid that in a moment of impulse, he would return Wyatt to Claire Sullivan and reconcile with her!
So, he left quickly, unwilling to see her suffering and pain, not wanting his heart to soften, and definitely not wanting her to remain in the rain for too long.
Two people and a child, raising them to adulthood, never to meet again; he thought this was the best outcome.
"You’re truly heartless!"
After hearing Simon’s indifferent recounting, Serena Sullivan’s voice became somber.
Rather than saying Simon loved Claire Sullivan, it was more accurate to say he was inherently cold and self-righteous.
To be judged this way by his own daughter, Simon gave a bitter smile, not refuting it.
"You’re not wrong."
He was cold; he hadn’t considered Claire Sullivan’s feelings, but...
"I don’t regret it!"
At least she’s living out there well enough, even if married to Joel Quinn, who isn’t a great person; her life over the years has been reasonably content.
Otherwise, if she had spent a long time in prison, the outcome would have been even more tragic!
"I only regret one thing."
Simon continued, "and that’s you!"
Such a good daughter, and she wasted her legs, enduring countless hardships.
"Heh heh."
Serena wasn’t moved, nor did she accept Simon’s apology.
"Simon Sterling, I still can’t forgive you."
After Serena spoke, seeing the guilt and sadness in Simon’s eyes, her own eyes suddenly turned red.
Who wouldn’t want a complete family, who wouldn’t want a perfect, impressive father?
Simon Sterling rather fit Serena’s imaginings over the years.
As they spoke, Wyatt Sterling returned with ice cream, entering with a cheerful face, sensing something was off.
"Serena, why are you crying?"
Wyatt came over, noticing Serena’s red eyes, he said worriedly.
