Chapter 737: Chapter 736: Once Close Friends

The Dowager Kane and Mrs. Kane were chatting when they saw Serena Sullivan and others, their faces fell.

The Dowager Kane slowed her pace and blocked Serena Sullivan’s path.

"I hear you’re having surgery in a couple of days to fix your leg?"

The Dowager Kane sneered and was the first to speak.

In her view, Wayne Jennings’s death and Felicity Sterling being released unharmed from the police station were all related to Serena Sullivan.

Serena looked straight at the Dowager Kane, too lazy even to look up.

She knew all too well what kind of person The Dowager Kane was!

Absolutely wouldn’t have a conscience or genuinely care about her.

Answering would be self-degrading and pointless.

Sure enough, as Serena expected, The Dowager Kane quickly continued, "Hope your surgery fails and you die soon, so I don’t have to deal with you!"

"What did you say!"

Such vicious words, before Serena could get angry, Claire Sullivan was already infuriated.

This was the first time Claire Sullivan met The Dowager Kane herself; a face full of wrinkles showed a weak, cunning, and wicked old woman. No wonder she’d raise someone like June Kane to be so selfish and make The Ford Family’s generation fall.

The Dowager Kane looked at Claire Sullivan who walked up to her, recognizing that she was Serena’s biological mother and the one they spared back in the day.

Thinking back on it all now, The Dowager Kane only felt regret; she should have opposed the old man’s decision back then, letting Claire Sullivan stay in prison until death. In that case, Wyatt Sterling and Serena Sullivan, these two bastards would’ve never made it out alive, sparing her current troubles.

"Claire Sullivan, you should be grateful we agreed with Simon Sterling’s conditions."

The Ford Family took advantage and reaped benefits over the years from Simon Sterling.

Claire Sullivan didn’t understand her words and didn’t care to know about Simon Sterling’s affairs.

She sneered and said, "My Serena is lucky, the surgery will definitely be successful."

"But The Dowager Kane, you’re quite old, not much time left to live, eh?"

Claire Sullivan’s stubborn nature made her bold, and regardless of who the old hag was, if angered, she would scold her.

"You scoundrel!"

The Dowager Kane angrily slammed her cane on the ground and yelled, "Were it not for my Ford Family’s kindness, what qualifications do you have, Claire Sullivan, to stand here!"

The Ford Family’s kindness?

This was the biggest joke!

"Give her a good slap!"

The Dowager Kane ordered furiously.

The guards protecting her and Mrs. Kane stepped forward, but before they could act, Yaya stood out.

This round and lovely little girl reminded The Dowager Kane of being thrown out of the hospital room; her back still ached, and seeing the Sterling Family’s other guards made her retreat.

She clutched her cane, calming her emotions gradually, and her gaze fell on Serena’s legs, pondering something, she smirked.

"I won’t argue with you young ones."

"Serena, get your legs treated well. Once healed, make sure you don’t get hit by a car again."

The old lady finished speaking and left with Mrs. Kane and the others.

Mrs. Kane, following behind The Dowager Kane, slowed her pace as she passed Claire Sullivan, giving her a smile.

"Long time no see."

Mrs. Kane greeted Claire Sullivan.

Their brief dialogue intrigued everyone, who looked puzzled at Claire Sullivan and Mrs. Kane.

"Let’s have a meal together someday when you’re free."

Mrs. Kane suggested warmly.

Claire Sullivan didn’t accept, thoughtfully looked at Mrs. Kane, and replied with two words, "We’ll see!"
