Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 272: Adrian, Do You Suspect Me?
Hearing the servant’s uneasy voice, Cecilia Vaughn’s heart skipped a beat and she inexplicably became flustered.
"Are you sure? Mimi is so playful, might it have gone crazy playing and then fallen asleep somewhere?"
There’s reason in that, when we were at Starfall Bay, besides loving dried fish, Mimi liked jumping around, and when tired, would find a random place to lie down.
Once Cecilia searched the entire villa and couldn’t find this little ancestor, and got quite a scare, only to find it later on a bookshelf.
Cecilia wasn’t tall enough, and Mimi was hiding in a corner easily overlooked, which had surprised Cecilia a lot, but finding that little white bundle finally put her at ease.
...
The servant glanced fearfully at Cecilia and Adrian Law, seeing the urgent gaze of the Young Madam, her face became even more perturbed.
"Young Madam, Holly and I have just searched the entire Law Residence from top to bottom, but there’s no sign of Mimi. We’ve also searched the nearby bushes and flower beds, even mimicking a cat’s call several times, but there’s just no response."
"Are you sure you’ve searched everywhere?"
Cecilia’s face suddenly turned pale, and an uneasy premonition surfaced in her heart for no apparent reason.
It’s the Law Residence; it’s Mimi’s first time here, and it might be feeling unfamiliar. She had specifically arranged for it not to wander too far. Mimi is a spiritual lion cat, and it had been obedient ever since she picked it up.
The servant in a black and white skirt twisted her fingers, thought carefully, then shook her head.
"Almost everywhere, except for your and the Young Master’s room, but every other place has been searched."
"Impossible, Adrian and I locked our room, and the windows have been closed the whole time. It can’t be inside."
Just as Cecilia resolutely denied, Adrian Law slowly held Cecilia’s hand.
"Cecilia, don’t worry. Mimi might just be playful, like before at Starfall Bay."
"I hope so... No, I have to go out and find it immediately."
The families here are all established wealthy ones, probably no one would steal a cat, but she’s afraid Mimi, being so beautiful and cute yet having an unusually fiery temperament, might get into trouble if someone provokes it and it retaliates.
Cecilia was worried, clutching the man’s fingers, and her heartbeat couldn’t calm down for a long time.
"Cecilia, don’t rush; finding out more before searching will make the effort more effective."
Adrian Law’s handsome eyes were deep, and his dark pupils glanced at the two maids responsible for watching Mimi.
"When was the last time you saw Mimi? Did it eat anything in the afternoon?"
Holly, the maid, hesitated and bit her lip corner, finally recalling some small details.
"Young Master... um... Mimi doesn’t like us following it, so we were just watching from a distance. Around two in the afternoon, I think I saw it run to the terrace on this floor."
"It wasn’t fed in the afternoon, but at noon, as per your instructions, we gave it a bowl of small fish with the bones removed, and it really did eat. The amount was large, so Mimi shouldn’t be hungry enough to go out and forage."
Adrian Law heard this, and his handsome brows furrowed slightly. He looked distantly towards the terrace not far away.
Under the antique iron flower frame, the potted plants swayed in the wind, seeming not to have anything special, nor that lazy little white bundle.
...
"Hey, Adrian, Cecilia, what are you doing standing here? Did something happen? Why does Cecilia’s face look so pale?"
Rosalind White walked over with a smile, looking at these people with surprise, a face pure and innocent.
Cecilia glanced at Rosalind, recalling the time around two in the afternoon, her eyes suddenly lit up.
"Miss White, when you brought me the Red Jade Bracelet in the afternoon, did you see my cat?"
Rosalind raised her hand, concealing a trace of hatred in her eyes.
"Afternoon... I think I saw it near the terrace, wanted to play with it, but it ignored me, so I left."
She spoke while widening her eyes, showing a curious baby-like expression.
"What happened? Your cat is missing, Cecilia?"
Seen on the terrace...
This statement coincides exactly with the maid’s.
Cecilia felt very uncomfortable inside and shook her head. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"It’s fine... Mimi might have run off to play wildly; it can’t find its way home temporarily."
Rosalind watched Cecilia’s anxious demeanor with enigmatic eyes, trying hard to suppress her inner delight, barely preventing herself from laughing out loud.
Just then, Rosalind suddenly felt a very cool gaze sweep over her, with such bone-chilling coldness that it could not be ignored.
"Adrian, why are you looking at me like that, is there something dirty on my face?"
Rosalind grinned awkwardly, feeling anxious at first, but staring into Adrian Law’s abyss-like eyes made her feel much better.
——In Rosalind’s view, this cat was what Cecilia insisted on keeping, while Adrian Law inherently disliked pets and had severe hygiene issues. She felt that killing a cat maybe did Adrian a favor!
"In the morning, Mimi scratched you, yet you still had the mood to tease it?"
The cold, clear male voice suddenly rang out, jolting Rosalind’s heart.
She somewhat guiltily turned around, slightly lowered her eyes so that people couldn’t see her expression clearly.
"Well, Adrian, no such thing, girls always want to get close when they see cute cats and dogs."
"Didn’t Cecilia say that Adrian initially got scratched by Mimi too? But today I saw that Adrian really likes Mimi, seems not to mind at all."
Because of the noise here, Fiona Vaughn and Tyson Law, who were originally talking in the living room, came over.
Upon hearing the discussion, they soon understood what happened.
"Oh dear, sister, your cat is missing?"
Seeing how Cecilia indulged that cat, Fiona couldn’t hide her schadenfreude, only holding her hand over her mouth to feign a concerned look.
...
Cecilia didn’t have the time to deal with Fiona’s antics, she was in a hurry.
"Adrian, asking like this isn’t working, I’m going out to look for the cat."
"Wait a moment..."
Adrian Law’s phone lit up, he looked at some surveillance footage he just received from the security room, and started to think.
Quickly, he shook his phone, his gaze as cold as ice settled on Rosalind White.
"Here is the surveillance from the security room, Mimi went missing after two in the afternoon, and you drove out around 2:10PM, returning almost four. What were you doing during that time?"
Rosalind’s heart suddenly clicked, her fingers trembling slightly, but she stubbornly raised her head.
"Adrian, what do you mean? I was just out for a stroll, do you suspect I did something to Mimi?"
