Chapter 28: Morning Alarm

The music inside Grand Aurora Hall flowed softly through the air.

Crystal lights shimmered above the guests while conversations mixed with the sound of glasses clinking together. Everywhere one looked, there were wealthy businessmen, investors, executives and important figures moving across the enormous hall with elegant smiles.

Meanwhile....

Mr.Nobody stood beside the dessert table holding a half-eaten chocolate pastry in one hand. Inside his mind was chaos.

He adjusted the collar of his suit awkwardly while staring at the forged invitation card inside his hand. "Man... this system is terrifying sometimes," he muttered quietly.

"The card looks completely authentic. Even the company seal, the employee identification number and the verification strip looks so real. Who the hell gave me this system anyway??" He stared at it with disbelief.

Suddenly....

Someone touched his shoulder. "Momma!!!" Nobody screamed and nearly jumped. He turned around quickly and froze.

Toma stood there smiling softly at him,"Knew it was you."

For a moment, Nobody’s brain completely stopped functioning. "T-Toma?"

She tilted her head slightly, her eyes narrowing with suspicion,"Why are you here?....You’re not secretly following me everywhere... right?"

Nobody immediately waved both hands in panic,"No! No no no! Absolutely not!"

Several nearby guests glanced toward him because of how loudly he reacted. He lowered his voice instantly," I mean... actually... I work here."

Toma blinked once,"Here?"

"I mean not here," Nobody corrected himself awkwardly. "I work as a financial document analyst at Haneul Central Bank."

Toma looked surprised," Oh yeah, you did say you work in a bank last time."

Nobody scratched his cheek,"...You sound disappointed."

She laughed softly,"No, it’s just you don’t really give off office worker vibes."

Inside his mind, Nobody screamed,"Because I literally fight mafia groups wearing a pink bunny helmet at night....!!"

Before he could answer....

"Ahem." Another voice entered the conversation. It was Aiden. He had just finished greeting several investors when his eyes landed on Nobody.

For a second....

Pure disbelief crossed his face,"...Huh?"

He walked over immediately,"You’re here too?"

Nobody gave an awkward smile,"...Surprise?"

Aiden stared at him from head to toe,"How in the actual hell?"

Toma crossed her arms and with a soft smile said, "That’s exactly what I asked."

Nobody quickly pulled out the invitation card the system created. "I’m here officially."

Aiden took the card from him. His eyes scanned the information carefully.

Aiden said," Well..this is real."

Nobody coughed proudly,"Well... obviously."

Aiden narrowed his eyes suspiciously,"You seriously work for Haneul Central Bank?"

Nobody nodded quickly."Yeah." Then he added casually,"I also noticed Nathan Industries’ banking documents are processed through our branch sometimes."

Aiden paused. "...You’ve seen our company files?"

Nobody realized his mistake instantly.

"Oh crap."

Aiden asked," Huh....you’re company checks our files??"

Nobody replied, Yes

Aiden slowly gave a comforting smile."Wow! That’s a hell of a coincidence. Don’t mess up our financial records, alright? Otherwise, we might have to sue you."

Nobody almost choked on air.

Toma lightly smacked Aiden’s shoulder,"Stop teasing him. You’re scaring the guy."

Nobody was panicking and said in his mind," Girl, you have no idea how terrifying rich people lawsuits sound to a guy whose real weapon is a crowbar."

Aiden sighed,"Well... honestly..." He glanced at Nobody again,"At this point I’m not even surprised anymore."

Nobody blinked," What does that mean?"

Aiden crossed his arms,"You appear literally everywhere."

Toma laughed quietly beside them.

Aiden continued,"It’s like some kind of cursed morning alarm."

Nobody looked offended.

"Humph..that’s rude."

Aiden smirked slightly,"But accurate."

A soft announcement echoed across the ballroom. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending the twentieth anniversary celebration of Nathan Industries."

Conversations slowly quieted down. People turned toward the large central stage. A massive screen behind it lit up with golden patterns.

Aiden’s expression became more serious immediately. "It’s starting."

Toma looked toward the stage curiously,"Are you giving a speech?"

Aiden loosened his cuffs slightly."...Unfortunately."

Nobody snorted quietly,"Bro sounds like he’s being sent to war."

Aiden ignored him.

An employee approached Aiden respectfully. "Sir, the directors are waiting backstage."

Aiden nodded once,"I’m coming."

Before leaving, he looked at Toma. "Stay close to the main hall. There are too many people tonight."

Then his eyes shifted briefly toward Nobody,"...And try not to cause problems."

Nobody immediately protested," Why are you saying that like I’m dangerous?"

Aiden gave him a long look. " You’re seriously asking....?" Then he walked away toward the stage area.

Nobody clicked his tongue. "Unbelievable slander."

Toma laughed softly again,"You really do attract chaos though."

"Chaos attracts me," Nobody corrected proudly. He said by himself,"That sounds even worse." Then he replied to Toma,"...Yeah maybe."

A strange feeling crawled across his spine. His smile faded slightly. Nobody frowned slightly,"...That’s weird."

Toma noticed his expression,"What happened?"

He hesitated,"...Nothing."

The announcer’s voice echoed throughout the hall once more. "Please direct your attention toward the main stage."

Golden lights slowly focused toward the center platform. Large digital screens behind the stage displayed the emblem of Nathan Industries while soft orchestral music played in the background. Guests gradually stopped their conversations and turned their attention forward.

Toma looked toward the stage with curiosity," This really feels like something from a drama."

Nobody stood beside her holding another pastry plate,"...Rich people sure love dramatic lighting."

Toma glanced at him. "How many pastries have you eaten already?"

Nobody looked down at the empty plate in his hand. "...That information is classified."

She laughed quietly.

Then....

Aiden walked onto the stage. The hall immediately quieted down. Under the golden lights, dressed in black formal wear, he looked completely different from his usual self. He looked more mature and more sharper. Like someone born for this world of money and influence.

Aiden stood before the microphone calmly. "Good evening everyone. Tonight marks the twentieth anniversary of Nathan Industries." The giant screen behind him shifted through images of company projects, buildings, employees and achievements from over the years.

"Twenty years ago, this company began with a small office and a handful of people who believed in one idea. At that time, we had no influence, no major investors, and no guarantee of success. What we did have... was determination."

Several guests listened carefully while waiters quietly moved through the hall.

"We faced failures. Financial pressure. Competition that tried to bury us before we could even stand properly. There were nights when even keeping the lights on felt difficult.

Guests nodded while listening attentively. Even older businessmen seemed impressed. A few older employees exchanged emotional smiles, remembering those days.

"But despite all of that... people stayed. Employees stayed. Partners stayed. Because they believed this company could become something greater."

He paused for a moment, looking across the crowd. "And today, after twenty years, Nathan Industries stands here stronger than ever."

Clap! Clap! Clap! Applause spread through the hall.

"But a company is not built by one person alone. It is built by every employee who worked overtime, every team that carried impossible workloads and every individual who refused to give up during difficult years. Now... the next generation will continue carrying this company forward."

Nobody slowly ate another pastry while whispering, "Man... he really seems the company ace."

Toma said, "Yeah, he was always confident in his company responsibility."

Some guests turned toward Aiden, whispering among themselves.

"Our future will not be easy. Competition grows stronger every year. The business world is changing rapidly. But I believe Nathan Industries will continue moving forward."

He raised his glass slowly. "So tonight is not only a celebration of our past... but also a toast to the future ahead of us."

The crowd raised their glasses together.

"To Nathan Industries!"
