Mr.Nobody: I am inside a webcomic?!
Chapter 5: Under the Wedding Lights
It was a huge wedding event in Grand Walkerhill Centre. Lights filled the hall, soft and golden, reflecting off crystal chandeliers that hung high above. Music flowed gently through the air, blending with the elegant rhythm of conversations.
Voices rose and fell naturally, mixing with quiet laughter.
Mr.Nobody stood still for a moment, blinking as his eyes adjusted.
"...I don’t know how, but the writers are being a little kind today."
He looked around slowly. A grand wedding hall stretched before him, decorated with white flowers and glowing lights.
Guests moved gracefully across the polished floor, dressed in expensive suits and elegant dresses as if they all belonged to a different world.
"...A wedding event..."
His gaze shifted toward the tables. Food. A lot of it. Rich, colourful, perfectly arranged.
"...It even looks expensive."
He stepped forward without hesitation, calm but curious.
"...Didn’t eat something like this in a while."
His hand reached out casually, picking up a cupcake topped with soft cream. Without thinking too much, he took a bite.
"...Not bad."
He kept eating, one hand in his pocket, completely out of place in the middle of such a refined gathering.
Around him, whispers slowly began to rise.
"...Who is that guy?...Was he invited?" "...I’ve never seen him before..." "...Why is he eating like that?"
The irritation in their voices was clear, though none of them approached him directly.
"Hi!" a voice called out from a distance.
Mr.Nobody paused.
"...Huh?"
At first, he didn’t turn. He thought it couldn’t be for him. But something made him look anyway. And then he saw her. "What!..Toma...? Here?"
Toma was standing across the hall. She wore a soft pink dress that flowed lightly as she moved, the fabric catching the light in a way that made her stand out even among the crowd. For a moment, everything else faded into the background.
Nobody’s grip tightened slightly and then his face heated up. "...Why is she here...?" Or rather, why am I here?
He tried to take another bite of the cupcake and suddenly choked. "Cough....!" His body jerked as he struggled.
Toma’s expression changed instantly and she rushed toward him. "Hey! Are you okay?"
He waved his hand quickly. "...Of course...cough!..cough!...I’m fine...!" His voice came out awkward and uneven. "...What could even happen to me...?"
He turned abruptly. "Water...hey....water!
Water, give me the waiter...
What am I even saying!"
"I mean, waiter! Give me some water!"
A nearby waiter hurried over and handed him a glass. Mr.Nobody grabbed it and drank quickly, one gulp after another until the burning faded.
Toma stood there, watching him. The concern in her eyes slowly softened into a small smile.
"...You’re really something," she said quietly.
Mr.Nobody lowered the glass slightly, his thoughts already drifting."Why here? Out of all places... in this wedding. And meeting her again."
"Toma!" A group of girls, Jiniya, Farjana and Raisa rushed toward her. "There you are!" "We’ve been looking everywhere!"
"Is it okay for the bride’s sister to disappear like that?" Jiniya said.
Mr.Nobody blinked. ’’Bride’s... sister?’’
Toma scratched her cheek awkwardly. "Ah...no, no, I wasn’t lost," she said quickly, glancing toward him. "I just met my friend, Mr.Nobody, here."
The girls turned. All eyes landed on him.
"Mr... who?" Farjana asked with confusion.
Raisa leaned closer to Toma with a teasing smile. "So, Toma... is this your dream guy?" Toma froze for a second. "...Will you guys stop it?" she said with an awkward smile.
Jiniya laughed. "By the way, I just saw Aiden looking for you. He looked so hot today."
The name landed quietly.
Mr.Nobody’s expression didn’t change, but inside, something tightened.
Then came footsteps. Calm, confident and familiar. "There you are." It was Aiden. He walked toward them like he naturally belonged there. Because he did, his black suit fit perfectly, his presence effortless, as the world itself adjusted around him. His eyes went straight to Toma. "I’ve been looking all over for you. You remember the dance event, right?" He smiled slightly. "You have to dance with me."
Mr.Nobody stood still, watching again. Just watching. In his mind," Knew... this guy would show up."
Then a glow appeared in front of his eyes.
[System Notification] A major webcomic event, "Under the Wedding Lights", is about to occur. [System Warning] The User may not interfere by his own will.
"...Again...?" His voice dropped, barely audible. "...Why..." His fingers curled slightly. "...Why are the writers doing this... to me?"
The music softened. The lights dimmed slightly, like the scene was preparing itself. Like everything was falling into place. A perfect moment. A perfect setup. For someone else.
Mr.Nobody lowered his head slightly.
"...This again..."
A voice came suddenly, close.
He looked up. "...Huh?" Nobody saw that Toma was directly looking at him.
"Mr.Nobody," she said. Her voice was calm, but her eyes were focused on him. Not Aiden. Not the others. Him. "...Come here, Mr.Nobody."
The girls beside her paused, their expressions shifting as they followed her gaze. Then Aiden turned too, slowly. His eyes landed on Mr.Nobody.
Mr.Nobody stood still. The music continued in the background, soft and distant, but this moment felt louder than anything.
Three different gazes. Toma...looking with a warm, curious gaze. Her friends... looking with a judging gaze. Aiden....with an annoyed gaze
Mr.Nobody’s fingers tightened slightly at his side. The system window flickered faintly in front of him, a silent reminder.
[system warning] Do not interfere.
And yet...
She called him.
"...This again..." he muttered under his breath.
Am I screwed again!
