Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 1013: Loss and Loneliness
After Miles Sterling yelled at her, the girl left with a tearful face.
Such unspoken rules in the workplace often leave people no choice.
But for a wealthy man like Miles Sterling, it’s likely that the girl was eager to be caught up in the unspoken rules.
After all, Miles Sterling was famously unfaithful in the past, and though his female companions changed quickly, he was genuinely generous to them.
Any woman who has been with him has gained quite a lot of benefits.
That’s why some women, who wish to "take shortcuts", despite knowing Miles Sterling’s quick turnover of women, are still willing to "offer" themselves.
Besides, with Miles Sterling’s looks and physique, he probably wouldn’t lack willing women even without money.
After the girl left, Miles Sterling kept his head down, looking at his phone.
Vanessa Sterling no longer focused on Miles Sterling and leaned back on the sofa to rest with her eyes closed for a while.
"Number 36 Vanessa Sterling, where are you?"
Just as she was about to fall asleep, Vanessa Sterling heard the nurse call her name and suddenly woke up.
She then realized Miles Sterling must have also heard it, right?
Inexplicably feeling guilty, she didn’t dare look in Miles Sterling’s direction, just raised her hand to indicate where she was.
Afterwards, the nurse came over with the IV bag, checked the medication list, and replaced her IV solution.
Vanessa Sterling was nervous, thinking that after Miles Sterling knew she was there too, he might come over to find her.
But after the nurse replaced the IV and left, there was no unusual movement.
Feeling slightly puzzled, Vanessa Sterling guessed perhaps Miles Sterling had fallen asleep and didn’t hear the nurse’s voice.
Thinking like this, Vanessa Sterling quietly turned her head to look in Miles Sterling’s direction.
Unexpectedly, her gaze met Miles Sterling’s eyes straight away.
Vanessa Sterling’s expression was obviously startled, and she quickly turned her head back.
Although the eye contact lasted only a fraction of a second, Vanessa Sterling was sure Miles Sterling saw her.
Considering Miles Sterling’s previous nature, if he found out they unexpectedly met in such a situation, he would definitely make some kind of move, even if it was just to come over and say hi, or ask why she was there and why she was sick.
But even until Vanessa Sterling finished one bag of the IV solution and switched to another, there was no reaction from Miles Sterling’s side.
She dared not turn her head again to sneak a look in Miles Sterling’s direction, fearing a repeat of that awkward situation.
Not long after, she heard the voice of the girl from earlier: "President Sterling, are you feeling better? Going back to the company directly?"
Miles Sterling stood up, glanced in Vanessa Sterling’s direction, sighed softly almost imperceptibly, turned, and headed towards the door, answering lightly: "Tomorrow morning I’ll see President Warren, go back, don’t follow me."
The girl hesitated a bit, having been threatened by Miles Sterling earlier, she dared not stick to him shamelessly.
Standing there, she glanced in confusion towards the direction Miles Sterling had looked just now.
What was he looking at?
Vanessa Sterling shrank behind the back of her seat, listening intently to their conversation, aware that Miles Sterling had left.
The feeling in her heart was strange, somewhat... disappointed.
Looking at the young couple sitting opposite, the girl’s condition seemed poor, leaning on the boy’s shoulder.
The boy was patiently accompanying her, frequently asking if she was hungry or thirsty.
Having skipped breakfast, Vanessa Sterling felt her growling stomach.
More than the hunger, she seemed to feel... a sense of loneliness.
