Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 1021: Thinking About Miles Sterling
When Vanessa Sterling was the only one left in the studio, she got lost in thought, staring at the blank paper in front of her.
Actually, the assistant was not entirely talking nonsense.
She had indeed been standing by the window, thinking about things related to Miles Sterling.
That call, although it wasn’t connected, would still leave a call record.
So she always thought, maybe Miles Sterling would call back and ask why she had made that call.
With this worry, she had repeatedly rehearsed in her mind what she would explain.
But she never received a call back from Miles Sterling.
He was probably too busy handling funeral arrangements, or perhaps her call record was lost among too many missed calls, and Miles Sterling might not have noticed it at all.
More than half a month had passed, and that black car hadn’t appeared in the parking spot again.
The assistant had been busy with wedding preparations these days, so nobody whispered about it in Vanessa Sterling’s ear anymore.
Vanessa Sterling gradually adjusted her mindset and focused on preparing for the art exhibition at the beginning of the month.
During this time, she seemed to have gotten used to staying up late, feeling that only by exhausting herself could she fall asleep without any thoughts or worries.
On another silent night, the sound of pattering rain suddenly came from outside the window.
Vanessa Sterling turned to look out the window, got up, and walked over, watching the raindrops fall densely, creating splotches on the dry ground.
The rain fell harder, and the night wind brought the rain into the room, adding a chill.
Vanessa Sterling couldn’t help but glance at a certain spot in the opposite building, and as always, it was completely dark.
Her eyes calmly withdrew their gaze, and as she closed the window, she blocked out the sound of the rain outside,
Returned to the easel, picked up the brush, and continued to paint with concentration.
Some time passed, and vaguely, she heard the sound of a car engine mingling with the rain outside.
Focused as she was, Vanessa Sterling seemed suddenly distracted by the sound.
Her body seemed uncontrollably drawn from the chair, her steps heading straight to the window.
The rain hit the window, forming streaks on the glass and blurring the scene outside.
But she could clearly see orange lights coming from that familiar direction.
Vanessa Sterling immediately opened the window, letting the sound of rain and wind pouring in together, and clearly saw the familiar black car parked in that familiar spot through the curtain of rain.
She stood there by the window, her mind blank, completely unaware of what she was doing at the moment, just staring motionlessly in that direction.
The driver came out of the driver’s seat, trotted to the trunk to get an umbrella, and then went to assist the man in the back seat out of the car.
The back door opened, long legs encased in black suit pants stepped out, and shiny leather shoes landed on the ground, immediately splashed with water droplets.
Miles Sterling stood under the umbrella, looking through the rain at the small building across the street.
With one glance, he noticed the lit window and the figure standing by it.
Their eyes met in the heavy rain, the scene seemingly frozen, both stood still, stunned on the spot.
"Young Master, the rain is heavy, let’s go inside first."
Miles Sterling didn’t withdraw his gaze, reached out to take the umbrella from the driver’s hand, and began walking towards the opposite side of the street.
The driver hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly ran to the bus stop by the roadside to take shelter from the rain.
Vanessa Sterling snapped back to reality only when she saw Miles Sterling walking towards her, and when she remembered to hide, it seemed it was too late.
Miles Sterling stood downstairs, looked up at her, and asked, "Is it convenient to come down?"
